Paramedics rushed to a street near Beverly Glen around 4:30 PM yesterday --and found 35-year-old Nick Loeb with a severely broken leg and a deep gash across his chest.

We're told Loeb was rushed to a nearby hospital -- and is currently being treated in the ICU.

Juan-Carlos Cruz is accused of hiring 3 homeless guys to slash his wife's throat with a pair of box cutters.

TMZ broke the story ... alleged victim Jennifer Campbell was suicidal over not being able to have a baby. But suicide is a mortal sin in Campbell's religion, so authorities believe Cruz was attempting to execute a murder/suicide out of mercy.

Law enforcement sources tell us Campbell is solidly supporting her husband, and police and prosecutors have compassion for the couple. We're told there have been active plea bargain negotiations and it's possible a plea could be reached before Tuesday's hearing ... though we're told it's going to be hard to work out all of the details before then.

We're told the likely disposition of the case is that Cruz will plead no contest to solicitation of murder and the attempted murder charge will be dropped.

The sentence for solicitation of murder is anywhere from 9 years in prison to probation. One source familiar with the case tells TMZ the likely dispo is 1 year in jail followed by probation.

We're told the couple plans to stay married.

The 38-year-old "Modern Family" beauty showed off her robust God-given talents while sunning her supple skin in Italy on Monday.

Sofia just received an Emmy nomination, but she's already won the golden globes.

The "Modern Family" star -- who's currently on a two week vacation in Italy -- just posted this photo on her Twitter page, declaring that her white bikini would be her "uniform" for the rest of her trip.

Lopez was scheduled to perform in Turkish-occupied Northern Cyprus ... an area that neither the United Nations nor the European Union recognize as an independent sovereign state ... because of the way it was illegally occupied by the Turkish military in 1974.

In fact, multiple Greek and Cypriot politicians expressed anger after reports surfaced claiming Lopez had agreed to perform at a swanky hotel in Northern Cyprus on July 24.

But a rep for Lopez tells TMZ, "Jennifer Lopez would never knowingly support any state, country, institution or regime that was associated with any form of human rights abuse."

The three homeless guys told TMZ on camera how Cruz allegedly offered them money to kill his wife.

The judge asked Cruz's lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, if she's received "TMZ records and video of the witnesses" -- she said she had not. Prosecutor Joe Marcus also said he had not received the video.

TMZ has not received a subpoena for the video, but it's up on the site -- see it below.
