Christina Applegate's husband was mercilessly hounded by a paparazzo -- and may have gotten annoyed enough to reach out and smack the guy.

As TMZ first reported ... Porno for Pyros bassist Martyn LeNoble was briefly detained by police after a weekend incident where a freelance pap (not one of TMZ's) accused him of getting physical.

LeNoble told cops he was trying to stop the photog from shooting his family during their daughter's birthday party -- when the guy challenged him to a fight in a back alley.

The photog's own video backs that up, as he tells Martyn ... "Let's fight over there. Let's go to the alley. Let's see if you're a man."

Look, the paparazzo is clearly being an antagonistic jerk ... but LeNoble does appear to smack the guy's camera at some point.

Christina Applegate's rock star husband was detained by police in Studio City yesterday after allegedly roughing up a photog ... but the Porno for Pyros bassist insists the pap crossed the line by taking photos of his child.

The video begins with rocker Martyn LeNoble being approached by police on a street corner in broad daylight -- he was detained, and patted down.

LeNoble -- who was not handcuffed and not arrested -- then begins to tell his side of the story ... insisting a paparazzo (not a TMZ guy) tried shooting photos of his wife and 2-year-old daughter at a birthday party.

LeNoble says, "I went outside to talk to him and he got physical with me ... he wouldn't back off."

At one point, LeNoble says the pap challenged him to a fight in a back alley -- saying, "Let's see what kind of man you are."

Eventually, LeNoble was released and sent on his way without further incident ... though it sounds like he may try to take legal action against the snapper.

Celebs are clearly drawing a line in the sand about kids and it's creating a lot of issues, because there are some photographers that are not backing down.

Dear paparazzi: It may be okay to talk to Kanye West again ... at least based on this incredible video of KW chatting up photogs at a gas station.

What's amazing is that Kanye not only talked to a few paps ... he joked with them while filling up his Lambo today in Calabasas -- and then launched into an explanation for why he went ballistic on that photog at LAX back in July.

Yeezy claims Daniel Ramos set him up by antagonizing him ... and it just happened to go down right after he learned his grandfather was dying.

Kanye's been charged with criminal battery and attempted grand theft for the incident.

But there's a ton more he talks about ... like being fearful his daughter will have to deal with the media frenzy that follows him. He even tells the paps, "We in this together."

Kanye West made it clear last night on Jimmy Kimmel's show ... he will fight the paparazzi with physical force if they cross the line in the sand ... the line Kanye has drawn.

It's pretty amazing. Kanye is facing criminal charges for attacking a photog at LAX. Prosecutors want to use video of Kanye's greatest hits. And now you can bet they will use his comments on Kimmel to show he's an angry man out for blood. And by the way, he's sayin' that's how people from Chicago are raised.

Kanye also buried the hatchet with Jimmy over the skit that caused a huge rift -- and Kimmel kinda apologized.

The photog Kanye West attacked at LAX is NOT willing to commit to staying away from the rapper, as the judge requested ... TMZ has learned.

TMZ broke the story ... the judge in the criminal battery case told the prosecutor Monday to get in touch with the alleged victim -- Daniel Ramos -- and ask him to stay clear of Kanye and not provoke him. The judge also ordered Kanye to stay 10 yards away from Ramos.

Kanye's lawyer, Blair Berk, told the judge Ramos had been "stalking" and harassing Kanye in the past, and she had great concern he would continue doing it ... and that appears to be why the judge asked the prosecutor to reach out to Ramos.

So we just reached out to Ramos, who told us he had to consult his civil lawyer, Gloria Allred. We called Ramos back a while later and he simply said "no comment."

It's interesting ... because in Ramos' civil suit against Kanye, he claims the attack caused him "physical and nervous pain and suffering."

Doesn't seem that nervous ...

The Game lashed out -- threatening to go all Kanye on paps last night -- and it was all in defense of Khloe Kardashian.

Khloe and Game were getting swarmed as they walked out of Tru Nightclub -- where she was hosting -- and Game put all the paparazzi on notice, shouting ... "Put your cameras down, or there's gonna be 7 broke cameras!"

And just to make sure the paps were paying attention, Game played the Yeezy card, adding ... "You thought Kanye was a problem? I'm a REAL problem!"

As for what set Game off -- the crowd around Khloe was seriously obnoxious (see vid below) ... shouting comments about Lamar Odom's crack addiction, and coming on to her. Problem is ... the photogs weren't the ones yelling that stuff.

Kanye West was just ordered to stay 10 yards away from the photog he attacked at LAX, but prosecutors got shut down when they asked that Kanye attend anger management classes ... TMZ has learned.

Blair Berk -- considered one the most effective criminal defense lawyers in the country who reps tons of celebs -- appeared in court on Kanye's behalf to ask the judge to make prosecutors fork over all of the info they have in their criminal battery case.

The judge ordered that the info be turned over, and then told prosecutors they should advise the photog -- Daniel Ramos -- to also stay away from Kanye. The judge said everyone involved should NOT use "self-help" -- aka, inciting and ass-whooping.

But then ... prosecutors asked the judge to order Kanye to attend anger management classes as a condition of bail. The judge scoffed, and rejected the request.

Berk is an interesting selection for Kanye because she's known for getting things done under the radar ... something foreign to his baby mama and her relatives.

Kanye needs a Houdini because sources tell us prosecutors have 7 videos showing the attack from virtually every angle.

As far as lawyers who are up to the task ... he chose right.

Kanye West is getting on an airplane right now ... bound for the airport that has triggered multiple run-ins with the paparazzi and 2 criminal prosecutions ... TMZ has learned.

Kanye left Milan early this morning and landed in Newark. He's about to board a plane for LAX and our sources say he will leave the terminal and walk right into the always-present paparazzi frenzy -- by his choice.

Kanye has told friends it's too much of a hassle to fly out of his way to avoid LAX. When he left for Paris, he took a private jet to San Francisco and picked up an international flight. As we reported, his reps wanted him to avoid LAX because they didn't want to give prosecutors in his pending criminal case more ammo, in case another confrontation erupts.

Kanye is determined to remain cool, regardless of how the photogs act. But he's also hedging his bets. He's spending a couple of grand for 3 security people to flank him as he leaves the airport.

Elton John REAAALLLY hates the paparazzi ... A LOT ... which is why it's weird that he went to a Hollywood restaurant last night that's right in the thick of the pap zone.

The whole clip is pretty comical ... Elton arrives to Craig's -- famously patronized by big celebs on a nightly basis -- and immediately goes off on the waiting paps.

F-bomb here ... C-bomb there ... another F-bomb. He's really angry.

In fact, Elton was so passionate about his cussing ... that he tripped over his own feet and almost fell on his way in. It's kinda funny.

Eventually, Elton angrily galumphs inside the front door ... to meet up with more famous people (the Osbournes were there, along with Giants owner Steve Tisch).

FYI -- there are more than 9,000 full-service restaurants in the L.A. area -- and while the salmon is pretty good at Craig's, it's not the only game in town.

So, the question -- why not give your blood pressure a break and hit up another food joint next time?

You gotta see this one ... Kanye West is at his bizarre best on the streets of Paris, ragging on L.A. photogs and telling French paparazzi they do it a lot better.

Kanye started the encounter by warning the photogs not to talk to him. But then he started rambling on about how much more respectful they are than their L.A. counterparts.

It seems it was meant more for the photogs back home than the Frenchies.

Kanye West flip-flopped back to nice guy mode with the paparazzi in France today -- a far cry from Friday's nuclear meltdown on the photogs filming in his driveway.

Ye was stepping out of a Porsche at some fancy schmancy building in Paris when once again he silenced a paparazzo from asking questions. The difference today -- he was smiling, and the pap stopped talking.

Kanye even compliments the guy ... twice!

Prosecutors in the Kanye West battery case want jurors to see all the videos of Kanye attacking photogs ... TMZ has learned.

Sources connected with the case tell TMZ ... the L.A. City Attorney believes Kanye has an M.O. -- when confronted by the paparazzi ... ATTACK. They believe what Kanye did at LAX on July 19th (see video above) -- allegedly battering a photog and trying to steal his camera -- is what he typically does ... and they want the jury to see 4 other incidents to prove their point (see videos below).

-- Friday's 4 AM incident at Kanye's Hollywood Hills home, where he went nuclear on the photogs, whom he claims were trespassing

-- July 12th: Kanye ordered a TMZ photog not to talk to him or anyone he knew, and then grabbed the camera

-- March 10th: Kanye went nuts on a photog shortly after he ran into a metal sign in Bev Hills

-- September 11, 2008: Kanye went postal on a photog at LAX. Criminal charges were filed, but later dropped after Kanye paid for the damage

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian just arrived at San Francisco International Airport, en route to Paris ... and they did exactly what we said they would do ... avoid the paparazzi at LAX.

Kim and Kanye took off from the Van Nuys Airport a few hours ago and landed at SFO. They're transferring to a commercial flight that will take them nonstop to Paris.

As we first reported, Kanye has been advised by his reps NOT to fly out of LAX, because they don't want another confrontation with photogs while his criminal battery case is pending.

Problem is ... the reps didn't bank on photogs showing up at his house early this AM ... resulting in yet another confrontation.

The paparrazzi at SFO -- not ours -- also shot video of Kanye and Kim, and much like this morning ... they're clearly getting under Kanye's skin.

Also, note to all paps -- if nothing else, pronounce the guy's name right. It's KAHN-YAY.

Kanye West says he's got the goods to get at least one of the photogs who showed up at his house today PROSECUTED ... TMZ has learned.

Sources directly connected to Kanye tell TMZ ... Kanye has reviewed the security footage from his Hollywood Hills home, and he says it CLEARLY shows at least one of the photogs trespassing on his private property.

We're told Kanye says he will file a police report and ask that the photog be prosecuted for criminal trespass.

As you know, two photogs (not TMZ) showed up at Kanye's house at 4 AM and peppered him with questions about his feud with Jimmy Kimmel, and Kanye went ballistic.

It's unclear who will go to the cop shop and file the report, because Kanye and Kim are on a plane right now, heading for Paris.

Kanye West went nuclear again on the paparazzi -- but this time Kanye has good reason to be pissed.

Kanye was at his bachelor pad at 4 AM, when several photogs (not TMZ) approached him as he was getting in his car to leave .... and asked about his feud with Jimmy Kimmel.

It appears Kim is also there. Sources say he and Kim were on their way to the airport with the final stop -- Paris.

Take a look at the video. An infuriated Kanye lunges at the photog but it does not appear there is any physical contact.

It looks as if the photogs are very close to Kanye's driveway -- but the photo agency insists they did not trespass.
