TMZ broke the story ... a source connected with the investigation told us the actor died within a minute of impact, when his jeep pinned his body against a security gate.

The death certificate also states there were no other significant conditions contributing to his death.

Joan Rivers No Kibble, Just Caviar ... Dog Bowl Fetches $14,000!!

Published | Updated

Joan Rivers turned someone's dog into a major baller ... 'cause Fido's gonna be drinking or eating out of a sterling silver dog bowl that mommy and daddy dropped $14k to get!

The Tiffany and Co. bowl belonged to Joan's beloved Spike -- a Yorkie with caviar taste, we're guessing -- and it went for 5 figures during a Christie's auction of a bunch of Joan's stuff.

The buyer, who might love their pet a little too much, is choosing to remain anonymous for now. Christie's thought the bowl would only get about $800.

It hasn't been used in quite a while -- Spike died in 2001. He was 17.

Tinder Co-Founder Dead 'Wolf of Wall Street' Guy Still Owes Me Rent!!!

Published | Updated

Barry Gesser, one of the real-life 'Wolf of Wall Street' guys, has been dead for months but his former landlord -- who's also one of the brains behind Tinder -- still has a score to settle.

Barry rented the Bev Hills home of Justin Mateen for $15k a month back in August. You would think when Barry died in December the 2-year lease would end, but not so ... at least according to Mateen.

The Tinder co-founder has now filed legal docs against Barry's estate, claiming it's on the hook for the balance -- $324k. But that's not all ... Mateen also wants loot for repairs, landscaping expenses and pool cleaning. That adds another $20k.

A little legal lesson. Mateen has a legal duty to make an honest attempt to re-lease the house, and once a new tenant starts paying, the tab stops running on the estate.

Prince DNA Shuts Down Long-Lost 'Son'

Published | Updated

Prince is NOT the father of the federal prisoner who claimed he was the singer's long-lost son ... according to Maury Povich DNA testing.

Sources with direct knowledge of the case tell us the DNA test returned a 0.0% chance that Carlin Q. Williams is Prince's spawn. In docs, Carlin said his mother met Prince in 1976 and knocked her up in a Kansas City hotel.

Carlin -- in prison for gun possession -- is one of several people who've come out of the woodwork claiming blood relations. Another woman, Taz Walker, also claims Prince was her pops.

It's unclear what the status is of her case.

Anton Yelchin Jeep Recalls Backed Up ... Customers Fear Fatalities

Published | Updated

Anton Yelchin's death is sending Jeep owners into a tailspin as they scramble to repair the flaw that likely caused the actor's fatal freak accident.

Several Jeep dealerships around the country tell us calls have been pouring in from panicked owners of the Grand Cherokee Laredo who are worried they'll suffer the same fate as Anton ... if their gear shifter isn't fixed pronto.

Problem is ... we've learned that not all dealerships have the 4-hour software fix yet, and those that do are backed up with a wait list ... 60 deep in some cases. We're told some spots won't have it until July.

TMZ broke the story ... Anton's SUV had not gotten the recall repair after a notice was issued in May.

We're told Jeep employees are giving owners tutorials to avoid the potentially deadly problem until their vehicles can get fixed.

Prince Singer with Him During Overdose ... Also with MJ Before He Died

Published | Updated

Even in death, Prince and Michael Jackson have something in common -- singer Judith Hill, who is opening up about what she saw the night Prince overdosed on his private jet.

Hill was on board the flight that made the emergency landing in Moline, IL ... and says she was talking to him when "his eyes fixed" and he nodded off. She told the NY Times she would have thought he just nodded off if she hadn't been "looking into his face."

But she says she immediately realized it was a medical issue and alerted an assistant and the pilot to put the plane down. TMZ broke the story -- Prince had suffered an overdose on Percocet, and emergency responders had to give him a save shot.

Hill -- who spent long hours recording and performing with Prince at Paisley Park -- NEVER mentions anything about his addiction. She refused to discuss his treatment in Moline, but said he reached out to Dr. Michael Schulenberg afterward "because he was concerned, and he wanted to do the right thing for his body."

Prince died six days later from an overdose of Fentanyl.

Interestingly, Hill rehearsed with Jackson days before his death -- she famously dueted with him in "This Is It." Dark coincidence, but there's your trivia answer.

Anton Yelchin Died Quickly After Jeep Accident

Anton Yelchin died within a minute of being pinned between his Jeep and his security gate ... this according to sources connected with the investigation.

Yelchin, who was found dead early Sunday morning at his San Fernando Valley home, suffered severe injuries to his chest and head ... this according to our sources. We're told the Jeep was crushing against his lungs and investigators believe he died within 1 minute of impact.

We're told the 27-year-old actor had no history of drugs, and no prescriptions or alcohol were found in the vehicle. Investigators determined Yelchin was not known to smoke marijuana.

We're also told there were security cameras trained on the gate and police are looking to see if they captured the accident.

As we reported, the Jeep had been recalled a month earlier because the e-shift created a dangerous situation where drivers put the vehicle in neutral, thinking it was in park.

Anton Yelchin Chrysler Had JUST Rolled Out Recall 'Fix'

Published | Updated

A crucial repair to Anton Yelchin's Jeep -- that ultimately might have saved his life -- was made available to the public just days before his death ... TMZ has learned.

As we've told you ... Anton's Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo was tagged for a recall in May. But we're told the manufacturer, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, did not have an actual repair for the e-shifter problem at that point.

Sources with direct knowledge of the recall process tell us some Jeep dealerships just got the "fix" last week -- and according to documents, ALL dealerships should have it by August.

We're told the fix is a software download to install an "auto park" feature -- which will automatically shift the vehicle into PARK as soon as the driver's door opens.

There's no official determination yet on what happened to Anton, but as we've reported ... his Jeep was running, and in neutral, when police found his body pinned.

Anton Yelchin Recall Repair Never Completed

Published | Updated

Anton Yelchin's Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo never got the fix that very likely could have saved his life ... TMZ has learned.

According to NHTSA docs, obtained by TMZ, the recall on Yelchin's SUV had not been addressed -- meaning he was susceptible to the PARK problem with the shifter.

The recall notice went out on May 14, 2016 ... and says, "Drivers may inadvertently fail to achieve the PARK position before exiting."

As we've reported, the problem is a driver might think the car is safely parked, when it's actually in neutral.

Anton Yelchin Shifting Device Possible Cause Of Fatal Jeep Accident

Published | Updated

The Jeep that rolled backwards and killed 27-year-old actor Anton Yelchin was recalled because the shifting mechanism caused drivers to unintentionally leave it in the wrong gear.

TMZ broke the story ... the 'Star Trek' star was leaving his home sometime before 11 PM Saturday when he got out after clearing his security gate. The 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee -- which was on a steep incline -- rolled backwards, pinning him against the gate. His friends found him dead at 1 AM.

The 2015 Cherokee models were recalled because of the e-shift transmission. It lacks the grooves found in old school transmissions that allow drivers to feel the various gears. According to the recall notice, the e-shift provides "poor tactile and visual feedback to the driver," which makes unintended gear selection more likely. Translation: A driver could put a car in neutral thinking it was in park.

The 2016 models reverted to an old school shifter.

So far no word on whether the shifting device contributed to the accident.

Yelchin died from blunt traumatic asphyxia.

Disney Gator Attack Cause of Death ... Drowning, Traumatic Injuries

Published | Updated

The 2-year-old boy attacked by an alligator at a Disney hotel in Florida died from a combination of drowning and traumatic injuries ... this according to the Orange County Medical Examiner.

The M.E.'s office made its determination just a day after the body of Lane Graves was retrieved from the Disney lagoon.

For some reason the resort is still hunting for the alligator that killed the boy, despite the fact that all alligators are capable of killing a small child and mistaking it for food. Search teams have already captured and euthanized five gators.

The forensics team is comparing the teeth of the alligators they've captured against the bite marks on the child's body to make their determination.

Christina Grimmie Killer Went Under the Knife to Win Her Affection

Published | Updated

Christina Grimmie's killer was on a mission to make himself so appealing she couldn't resist him, and when it didn't work he changed his plan to kill her ... this according to his former co-workers.

Various people who worked with Kevin Loibl tell TMZ his infatuation with Christina was boundless. He went on a mission to change his appearance for her and, toward the end, got hair transplants and Lasik eye surgery. He also went vegan to lose weight.

He would also listen to her music at work and vow she would someday be his wife.

Loibl's Best Buy co-workers say he went to one of Christina's shows in March and hinted that he actually met her. The co-workers also say the Geek Squad killer claimed to have played online games with the singer. A source close to the singer, however, tells us Christina never had contact with Loibl.

And there's this. The co-workers say they teased Loibl that he would never score because Christina had a boyfriend ... her producer. That relationship was never public, but pictures of Christina and the guy together on social media made it pretty clear ... they were together. We're told that enraged Loibl.

That rage was vented last Friday after Christina's show, when he shot her in the head and then killed himself.
