Trump Dept. of Defense Disguised Military Plane Attack Violates International Law
The Pentagon used a military aircraft painted to look like a civilian plane to attack a boat off the coast of Venezuela in September -- the Trump administration claimed the boat was transporting drugs -- and that deception violates international law, The New York Times reports.
This is one of the attacks that is already controversial -- after the initial bombing, a second strike was ordered, killing two survivors who were clinging to the hull of the destroyed boat. That is considered a war crime.
The bombing of unconfirmed criminal suspect boats and their occupants is also legally questionable in international maritime law.
The aircraft used in the Sept. 2, 2025 attack -- which killed 11 people -- reportedly flew low enough for the boat's passengers to see it ... meaning they would have been under the impression it was a civilian plane. The plane's munitions were also concealed, according to the report.
9/2/25
Legal specialists told the NYT that's vital ... as the laws of armed conflict prohibit combatants from pretending to be civilians to trick adversaries into lowering their defenses before attacking them, which is a war crime known as "perfidy."
The type of aircraft used in the attack hasn't been publicly revealed.
White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly issued a statement defending the strike -- President Donald Trump has called these attacks acts of war against drug cartels -- and described it as "fully consistent with the law of armed conflict."
The U.S. military has reportedly killed at least 123 people in boat attacks near Venezuela and Colombia since September.

Fishback says his proposed "Sin Tax" is meant to deter young women from selling their bodies online ... which he says is something they're compelled to do by society's objectification of them -- not as a choice.
He specifically calls out Sophie Rain, the popular content creator who rakes in millions of dollars per year in the state ... saying he thinks she could be a nurse or teacher, or homemaker, instead of posing naked for money.
Bill Clinton Skips Epstein Deposition ... Oversight Committee Will Seek Contempt
The Republican-led House Oversight Committee is looking to hold Bill Clinton in contempt of Congress, according to its chairman ... after the former president didn't show up for a deposition about his connection to Jeffrey Epstein.
Oversight Committee Chair James Comer spoke to reporters Tuesday morning and announced he would move to hold the former President, who served from 1993 to 2001, in contempt next week, reports NBC News. If a panel vote moves it forward, the contempt would need a full House vote to proceed. Then the Dept. of Justice would decide whether to pursue it.
Bill and Hillary were scheduled by the committee to be deposed Tuesday and Wednesday ... but the Clintons sent a letter to Comer stating they would not show up, pointing out they've already made sworn statements.
The Clintons wrote they expected to be held in contempt for their decision ... and claimed the subpoenas they'd been sent were "invalid and legally unenforceable," reports The New York Times.
The House Oversight Committee announced it had sent the Clintons deposition subpoenas last August, and their depositions were originally scheduled for last October.
Bill's received scrutiny for his connection to Epstein over the years, and photos featuring the him have appeared in newly released photos from the Epstein Files. Other powerful political, business and entertainment figures, including President Donald Trump, have also been closely associated with Epstein, a disgraced financier and convicted pedophile. The Dept. of Justice has said less than 1 percent of the Epstein Files have been released, despite a December legal deadline.
Bill's denied any wrongdoing on his part and has claimed he cut ties with Epstein before his crimes came to light.

Donald Trump Adios, Drug Cartels! We're Coming For You!
Donald Trump said U.S. forces are preparing to attack cartels on land in an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News that aired Thursday night ... and it appeared he was suggesting Mexico was the target.
Discussing the recent Venezuela military operation that resulted in the arrest of President Nicolás Maduro, Trump told Hannity ... "We’ve knocked out 97 percent of the drugs coming in by water, and we are going to start now hitting land with regard to the cartels. The cartels are running Mexico."
POTUS' intention to invade Mexico is not new ... he said the idea of ordering strikes were on the table in November, according to NBC News.
Trump said then the United States would do "whatever we have to do" to stem the apparent flow of drugs into the country ... although he didn't say if he'd obtain the Mexican government's permission to conduct operations in Mexico. Mexico has rejected the idea outright.
Trump asserted he knew about the locations of all of the alleged major Mexican drug traffickers and described their actions as warlike -- and said he is more than willing to utilize physical intervention.
Trump's policy towards Latin America has been highly controversial ... especially given the recent capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and POTUS' comments regarding a potential U.S. military operation in Colombia and Cuba.

Donald Trump Homes Are For People, Not Corporations!
President Donald Trump is planning to ban institutional investors from buying up single-family homes ... according to a new Truth Social post.
Trump said buying a home was the "pinnacle of the American Dream," but that's become nearly impossible under policies he blamed on former president Joe Biden and Congressional Democrats.
Trump claimed he'll take steps to keep institutional investors from purchasing more homes and said he'll call on Congress to make it official.
He promised to discuss proposals related to housing and affordability in his planned speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos in two weeks.
Trump has previously pledged "some of the most aggressive housing reform plans in American history" during a televised address last month, The New York Times reports.
He claimed "the colossal border invasion" is one of the biggest factors in the rise of housing costs -- that claim is widely disputed by economists.
It's not clear how Trump would be able to utilize executive action to keep institutional investors from buying single-family homes.

Judge to Lindsey Halligan Explain Why You're Still Using The U.S. Attorney Title!
A federal judge has ordered Lindsey Halligan to explain why she continues to use the title of "U.S. attorney" in the months since her appointment was ruled unlawful, CBS News reports.
Halligan -- a former personal attorney to President Donald Trump -- was named the head of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia in September. She had no experience in criminal law prior to her appointment, and primarily focused on insurance law.
Although she brought cases against former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James, they were dismissed after a district judge found Halligan's appointment to head that U.S. Attorney's Office was invalid in November.
The issue was noted following an indictment filed in early December in which Halligan was listed as a "United States attorney and special attorney."
Judge David Novak has since given Halligan seven days to explain why she continues to represent herself as a U.S. attorney and how her identification "does not constitute a false or misleading statement."
Novak also ordered Halligan to tell the court why it "should not strike Ms. Halligan's identification as United States attorney" from the indictment.
