We gave the hard-hitting question to McCloud when we linked up with the wide receiver/music producer ... and he said Kendrick's Super Bowl halftime show edges out Beyoncé's Christmas performance.

"Beyoncé's was hard," he said. "You can't knock Beyoncé. She's one of the best performers ever. But Kendrick, the moment, the whole setup, the aesthetic, all of it man."

In court docs filed Thursday -- obtained by TMZ -- prosecutors laid out their reasons for why Diddy should remain behind bars as he awaits his sentencing, following his conviction on 2 counts of violating the Mann Act. As you know, Diddy was acquitted of the more serious racketeering and sex trafficking charges.

On Wednesday, Diddy filed docs asking Judge Arun Subramanian to overturn his Mann Act conviction, arguing the crime involves the transport of people across state lines for the purposes of sex ... which Diddy denies doing.
