'Sister Wives' Kody Brown Divorces One Wife Marries Another

TLC's "Sister Wives" star Kody Brown has traded one wife for another ... TMZ has learned.

Polygamy is confusing so here's the deal. Kody claims to have 4 wives, but he's only legally allowed to marry one. He married Meri before meeting any of the other women, but we've learned he decided he no longer wanted her as the official wife.

So Kody quietly divorced Meri and then tied the knot with another sister wife -- Robyn, the youngest of the bunch.

Now you wanna hear a friendly divorce. Meri is still in the fold, and she's become one of the backup singers ... aka sister wives.

As for why Kody made the switch ... we're told he wants to make sure Robyn's kids have security within the family, such as access to insurance and other benefits.

'Sister Wives' School Parents PISSED Over Reality TV Cameras

Several parents at an elementary school in Vegas -- attended by the children of "Sister Wives" star Cody Brown -- are up in arms, TMZ has learned ... and it's all over reality TV cameras infiltrating their school.

Here's how it started -- sources tell TMZ, a production crew for TLC's "Sister Wives" came to the Sheila Tarr Elementary School's Valentine's Ball last Saturday to shoot the Brown family with their children.

According to sources, parents at the school were notified days before filming -- but a large group strongly objected to it, and lodged complaints with the school.

In the end, we're told the school worked out a deal with the production company behind the show -- in which producers agreed not to discuss the location of the school and blur out the faces of any children not associated with the show.

But we're told several parents were still upset -- believing the cameras represented an invasion of privacy -- and now, they want the local school district to revamp its on-campus filming policies.

TLC had no comment. A rep for the Clark County School District tells TMZ, "The district heard the concerns of the parents involved and considered them when developing [the] compromise."

The rep adds, "In the past few months, we've had the Ellen show, ABC News, Oxygen Network, and countless local broadcasts filmed at our schools. TLC and the Brown family deserved the same."

BTW -- the Valentine's Ball was a fundraiser event to raise money for the school ... and we're told the "Sister Wives" production company donated $500 to the cause.

'Sister Wives' Family -- Just Like The Gays!

The Mormons and the gays -- they don't always get along ... but thanks to a brand new lawsuit about to be filed by "Sister Wives" star Kody Brown, it seems they have more in common than you'd think!

Brown and his multi-wife "plural" family claim they're filing a lawsuit against the state of Utah tomorrow -- challenging the bigamy law that makes their lifestyle illegal.

The Brown family attorney posted a statement on his blog saying, "We are not demanding the recognition of polygamous marriage. We are only challenging the right of the state to prosecute people for their private relations and demanding equal treatment with other citizens in living their lives according to their own beliefs."

The attorney adds, "It is a challenge designed to benefit not just polygamists but all citizens who wish to live their lives according to their own values -- even if those values run counter to those of the majority in the state."

The legal argument is virtually identical to the one made by supporters of gay marriage ... which is illegal in most U.S. states ... including Utah.

So, we gotta ask ...

'Sister Wives' Fam -- Not Together for Father's Day

All any dad wants on Father's Day is to gather round the house and celebrate the day with their four wives and 24 children -- but that won't be happening this year for Kody Brown of "Sister Wives."

Sources close to the fam tell TMZ various scheduling conflicts made it impossible for the whole family to get together this year. We're told the Browns had their Father's Day last week over a giant breakfast -- which included pancakes, eggs, bacon, fruit, french toast and cereal.

As for gifts, we're told each of the wives gave Kody a "survival kit" -- some of the basics he needs to have at each house -- like cologne, Q-tips, and dental floss.

How romantic.

'Sister Wives' Mother's Day -- To The Buffet!!!

"Sister Wives" star Kody Brown knows there's only one way to please all 4of his wives on Mother's Day ... and it involves an ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT BUFFET IN VEGAS!!

TMZ spoke with the TLC reality star -- who tells us he's taking Meri, Christine, Janelle, and Robyn to the Red Rock Casino in Las Vegas for their famous Mother's Day Brunch buffet.

Kody says he isn't really a "breakfast guy" -- but his wives are huge fans of the Rock's quiche, eggs, and waffles ... and at $23.99 a pop, it fits in the budget.

Meanwhile, the Duggar family from "19 Kids & Counting" are also having a cost-friendly Mom's Day ... hitting church in the morning ... followed by a family luncheon honoring the women.

In other Mother's Day news -- TMZ also spoke with "Cake Boss" Buddy Valastro ... who told us he's finally gonna take the day off this year and spend it with his wife Lisa ... who gave birth to their 4th kid this year.

Happy Mother's Day people.

"Sister Wives" -- Gather Round, We're On TV!

Let's hope Kody Brown has a big couch -- because he's gonna round up his four wives and 16 children so the whole family can watch the premiere of "Sister Wives" together!

The Brown family has been making the rounds promoting tonight's premiere on TLC (even appearing on TMZ Live), but we're told whole family has returned to Las Vegas to watch the show.

A fight over the remote would be epic.

'Sister Wives' Valentine's Day -- Table for Five

You think it's difficult to get a reservation for two on Valentine's Day? Try making one for you, your spouse, your other spouse, your third spouse, and your new spouse.

Such is the dilemma for "Sister Wives" star Kody Brown. He tells us that in the past, he's spent Valentine's Day with other polygamist families -- since most polygamists don't usually like to be too public about the whole plural marriage thing.

This year, however, is different. Brown tells TMZ since the family is "public about the lifestyle now," he's considering taking all the "Sister Wives" out to dinner together. We recommend ordering a sampler platter.

As for gifts, Brown says he usually gets cards and chocolates for each of the wives and a small chocolate Valentine for his 10 daughters. Brown says he bought Christine a necklace, but still has to shop for the other wives.

Maybe Kay Jewelers is running a buy one, get two free promotion.

'Sister Wives' New Home A Neighborhood Divided

Kody Brown and his "Sister Wives" might need to invest in some good fences -- because a few of their new neighbors aren't happy the polygamist reality show stars have moved into their hood.

As TMZ first reported, Brown and his fam recently relocated to Las Vegas so they could explore new job opportunities. TMZ spoke with several of the new neighbors and while some sound tolerant of the Brown clan ("It's a quiet neighborhood, and as long as it stays drama free, then we're fine") others want nothing to do with them.

One neighbor told us, "I don't want my family surrounded by polygamists."

Another was upset because now her young children are asking her about polygamy -- and now she plans on moving. She told us, "I am not tolerating the polygamists or their TV show in my neighborhood."

What has 2 Thumbs, 19 Kids and 3 Houses?

THIS GUY!!!! "Sister Wives" dad Kody Brown struck his best Fonz pose while moving one of his wives into her new Vegas home this week -- one of THREE pads the 24-member family will be living in.

Sources close to the polygamous posse tell TMZ ... Kody is renting three homes on the same block in a Vegas-area community -- and TMZ obtained photos of K-dog moving Meri into house #1 earlier this week.

We're told the rest of the fam will be spread out in the other two homes -- with two of Kody's 4 wives doubling up in one house.

As we first reported -- Kody moved the gang to Nevada so he and his wives can "explore new job opportunities" -- and although the details of the new careers are still unclear ... Kody seems to have a future in moving.

'Sister Wives' Fam -- Break Down in Las Vegas

"Sister Wives" star Kody Brown has officially moved the family to VEGAS, BABY ... baby, wife, wife, wife, wife, kid, kid, kid, kid, kid, kid, kid, kid, kid, kid, kid, kid, kid, kid, kid, kid and kid.

TMZ has learned Kody and crew moved into their new temporary rental home in Sin City late Tuesday ... but it wasn't an easy journey.

Average travel time from the Brown's home in Lehi, Utah to Vegas is roughly 6 hours ... but Kody's caravan took 30 HOURS to complete the 397 mile voyage.

We're told the gang was slowed down by "multiple car issues" -- including EIGHT blown tires!!!

As we previously reported -- Kody and the rest of his polygamist family moved to Nevada to "explore new job opportunities" ... but it's unclear what kind of career moves they're looking to make.

'Sister Wives' Fam -- We're Moving to Nevada!!

"Sister Wives" polygamist Kody Brown is gonna need a whole LOTTA moving trucks ... 'cause the man with 4 wives and 19 kids is moving his entire family out of the state of Utah ... TMZ has learned.

Sources close to the Brown's -- all 24 of 'em -- tell us Kody will be moving the gang to Nevada so he and his wives can "explore new job opportunities."

Brown -- who was at the center of the felony bigamy investigation in Utah -- shouldn't face as much scrutiny for his living situation in Nevada ... where cohabitation between a man and his unlicensed "wives" is not a crime.

Brown family attorney Jonathan Turley tells us neither Kody nor his wives have been hit with any charges stemming from the Utah investigation.

As for the move -- we're told the fam should be on the road in the next few days.

'Sister Wives' Halloween Braving the Elements

Even polygamists enjoy a little Halloween action -- and TMZ has learned the entire crew from "Sister Wives" are getting in on the devilish festivities ... 21 costumes in all.

We're told the Brown family will be hitting up a costume party on Sunday -- and the four wives will be dressed up like earth (Janelle), air (Christine), fire (Meri) and water (Robyn).

As for fifteen of their sixteen kids (it's hard to keep up with them all) -- we're told they'll be disguised as two vampires, one hippie, two nerds, one goth fairy, one regular fairy, one zombie, an M&M, Cleopatra, a gangster, an angel, a mobster, a "Twilight" vampire, and one "ugly mask."

And last but not least -- we're told Kody has yet to make up his mind about an outfit ... which probably explains why he has FOUR WIVES.

'Sister Wives' Not Backing Down from Season 2

They're still in the middle of a criminal investigation -- but the polygamist family featured on "Sister Wives" has officially agreed to do another season of their TLC reality show.

The Kody family -- 21 members strong -- drew the eye of Utah officials right after their show debuted earlier this year. Authorities completed an investigation and turned the case over to the County Attorney ... who will ultimately decide whether or not to prosecute the family for bigamy.

Season 2 is set to debut in March -- no word if the family will address the investigation on the show.

TMZ Live: MMA Star Daniel Puder Hits the Studio

MMA superstar Daniel Puder was in the house for TMZ Live -- and talked to Harvey about the thousands of emails he's been receiving since he offered up his address on TMZ to anyone being bullied.

Plus: Daniel talks Mel Gibson, Lindsay Lohan, and "Sister Wives."

'Sister Wives' Wedding -- Guests Hide from Cameras

"Sister Wives" star Kody Brown has every aspect of his life filmed for a reality show -- but TMZ has learned when he got hitched to wife #4, a number of his polygamist guests were not nearly as camera-ready.

As TMZ first reported, Brown married Robyn Sullivan a few months back. TLC's cameras were not allowed in the actual religious ceremony, but they did film the reception. But here's the problem ... About half the polygamist guests did not want their faces on camera because of the legal issues in which Kody now finds himself embroiled.

So Kody made accommodations by creating "camera-free zones" -- where lots of publicity-shy well-wishers hung out. As one person said, "The reality is that bigamy is still a felony and the mainstream still doesn't accept it."

As for the particulars of the reception, sources tell us there were about 200 guests ... mostly other polygamists. They served finger foods, open faced sandwiches, relish trays, and lots of varieties of cheesecake.

One of the plural family guests had their son and daughter sing a song for everyone -- "We Are Families," perhaps?
