Shannen Doherty went above and beyond the call of duty to help a possibly suicidal fan Sunday night ... working with police from across the country to make sure the fan didn't harm herself ... TMZ has learned.

The Westampton Township Police Department in New Jersey confirms ... Doherty -- who lives in L.A. -- contacted officers late Sunday night and told police she had been receiving several disturbing tweets from a fan who threatened to kill herself unless she got a phone call from the actress.

Sources close to Shannen tell TMZ ... the actress had reason to believe the fan was in possession of a gun.

According to the WTPD, Shannen was able to get the fan to reveal her address ... and cops were immediately dispatched to the woman's home.

Once police arrived, the officers met with family members who said the person of interest was a 27-year-old woman who was at home in her room.

Cops spoke with the woman ... who insisted she did not wish to harm herself. Cops also say they found nothing that would lead them to believe she was a danger to herself.

The woman was offered medical attention -- which she declined -- and cops left the scene after determining she was safe in the care of her family.

CNN anchor Don Lemon says Jonah Hill is a rude, arrogant a-hole who treated him like "the help" when he tried to shake the actor's hand during a recent run-in at a hotel ... and now he's trashing the actor to anyone who will listen.

For the past 24 hours, a very bitter Lemon has been on a mission to blast Hill across multiple media platforms ... starting on Twitter ... and ending on "Starting Point with Soledad O'Brien."

It all began yesterday ... when Lemon tweeted, "Said hi to @jonahhill in hotel. Think he thought i was bellman. Didn't know his name til bellman told me. A lesson to always be kind."

Hill -- clearly upset -- fired back, "I said hi what do you want me to do move in with you? I was in a hurry. Didn't realize you were a 12 year old girl. Peace."

Jonah added, "I walked out of the restroom and found you waiting for me. Shook hands, said hi and was on my way. Sorry if you found that rude."

The two continued to cyber-spar ... until Don went on CNN this morning to further exploit the feud and said, "Jonah Hill doesn't owe me anything, and he may have been having a bad day ... but Jonah Hill treated me like the help."

"Normally it doesn’t bother me, but I was done ... because I’d been taught by mother to always be kind to people," Lemon said.

Don also said he expected an apology from Jonah. Don't hold your breath.

John Mayer is a douchebag ... in fact, he's "King Douche" ... this according to country music bigshot Shooter Jennings -- the son of country legend Waylon Jennings.

Shooter -- a powerful country music DJ -- just went after Mayer on Twitter ... saying, "I love how the 'neil young of our generation' self-naming king douche grows his hair out + buys a place in Montana just to do [Rolling Stone] article."

Shooter continues, "Claims he's 'done w hollywood game' and has 'roots' and then immediately cuts hair, goes back to hollywood clubs + starts banging Katy Perry."

The attack continues ... "And don't anybody say he's a great guitar player. Gary Clark Jr & [Lukas Nelson] wipes their asses with this dude."

Lil Wayne says he's all good ... despite suffering from two seizures in the past few days which left him hospitalized until yesterday evening.

Wayne tweeted just moments ago, "Thanx for all the prayers! I am good."

TMZ broke the story ... Wayne made an emergency landing over Texas in his private plane Thursday after we're told he suffered a seizure mid-flight and was admitted to the hospital. Then, on Friday his plane made another emergency landing over Louisiana after he suffered a second seizure.

He was released from the Oschner Medical Center in Kenner, LA Friday afternoon (below).

A creepy Twitter fan is threatening Christina Applegate and her fiance with terrifying messages like ... I'll "blow your f**king head off!!!" -- and LAPD has launched an investigation, TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell us Applegate's fiance, musician Martyn LeNoble, got the threatening tweets on Sept. 20th -- and according to documents filed in the case, they included: "You stole [Christina] away from me. If not for you she would be mine."

The tweet continues ... "I will not accept this. I am going to kill you!!!!!!!!!"

LAPD obtained a search warrant 6 days later -- which was served on Twitter HQ in San Fran -- and the docs list several other violent threats:

- "I'm going to bust your head in for taking her away from me!!! Be afraid, be very afraid!!"

- "You think this is a joke? I want to see how funny you think I am when I blow your f**king head off!!!"

The big problem cops are facing is ... Twitter is so damn anonymous.

According to the search warrant, LeNoble didn't recognize the Twitter profile sending the threats. Police want to access Twitter's records related to the profile ... which has been deleted.

Kanye West made a triumphant return to Twitter yesterday and did something very out of character for him ... pay his respects to someone else's accomplishments.

The rapper -- who made a dramatic exit from the site Thursday and deleted ALL his previous tweets -- came back a day later to honor the legacy of Apple founder Steve Jobs, who passed away one year ago.

Kanye compared Jobs' influence to three other famous people, tweeting, "He is one of the most inspiring and influential human beings of our existence along with Michael Jackson, Walt Disney and Dr. King."

So we gotta ask ...

Seems the excuse-making shoe is now on the other foot as Lindsay Lohan is now defending mother Dina and her insane interview with Dr. Phil ... placing the blame squarely on his shoulders.

Dina seemed completely out of it during her interview with Dr. Phil that aired earlier this month (check out a clip below), swearing she was not drunk.

Lindsay came to her mother's defense on Twitter yesterday, saying Dr. Phil should be "ashamed" of himself and calling him a "fraud" and a "bully."

Apparently those are all buzz words in the Lohan Guide to Excuses and Blame Shifting.

Charlie Sheen has had a major change of heart ... and has decided to re-open his Twitter account because "he misses his fans."

TMZ broke the story ... Sheen quit Twitter in July after 16 wild months because he just didn't feel like he was getting anything out of the Social Network anymore.

But now, sources close to the Warlock tell TMZ he just re-activated his account and plans to reach out to his 8 million followers ASAP because "He misses interacting with his fans ... and really wants to talk to them about important things in his life."

Among Charlie's list of important things -- we're told he's pretty fired up about an upcoming episode of 'Anger Management" which guest stars his famous father Martin Sheen.

We're told Charlie wants to try and keep his tweeting "professional" going forward ... but he's Charlie Sheen, so crazy isn't exactly off the table.

So there we were ... walking around NYC today when we saw a woman giving birth in the middle of a park. And get this, Jonah Hill was there too ... taking pictures.

The whole situation was pretty crazy ... our photog stumbled upon the scene by pure happenstance ... where emergency workers had just loaded the woman into an ambulance.

But after the dust settled ... we randomly noticed Jonah snapping a cell phone pic of the birthy aftermath near the bench where the woman was sitting when she went into labor.

We tried to ask Hill about the situation ... but he seemed a little too embarrassed to talk and beat a hasty exit with his pretty lady friend.

Ryan Lochte won't have to ever worry about losing a swimming race by a hair, because he just received two gold and diamond encrusted razors from Gillette.

The 11-time Olympic medalist tweeted a pic of the new blinged-out shaving set gifted to him by one of his biggest sponsors and wrote, "U gotta hand it to @Gillette for getting me my own personally gold plated and diamond encrusted razor. #jeah"

Ellen Page claims a crazed fan has been terrorizing her on Twitter -- sending her multiple DEATH THREATS -- and now, she's turned to the LAPD for help.

The LAPD recently sent a search warrant -- obtained by TMZ -- to the micro-blogging site, demanding information regarding two Twitter accounts believed to be associated with an individual bent on killing the actress.

According to the warrant, the two accounts sent Ellen multiple threatening messages back in June -- such as, "I'm going to murder Ellen Page. She's dead."

And, "Ellen Page if you continue to date Alexander [Skarsgard] I will K-1-L-L you in public in the next year ... Be it in a club, at a game, in a restaurant, or when you're signing autographs."

The tweets have since been removed.

According to the LAPD, the threats also coincided with a creepy telephone call received by the non-profit that organizes the LA Film Festival, where Ellen's new movie "To Rome with Love" premiered on June 14th. The LAPD claims the caller promised to go to the festival and "kill Page."

Obviously that didn't happen -- but the investigation's still ongoing.

Leaving little to the imagination -- and looking ridiculously sexy -- in some sort of black lace body stocking thing, supermodel Bar Refaeli tweeted a pic of her gorgeous self on the set of her latest photo shoot in London on Monday.

This is definitely worthy of an Olympic gold medal.

"Basketball Wives" star Tami Roman has gone to the cops ... claiming she's the latest victim of a diabolical internet hacker who managed to hijack her Twitter and e-mail accounts simultaneously.

Sources close to Tami tell TMZ ... the reality TV star was hacked sometime on Friday night. We're told a friend tipped her off that that someone had taken over her Twitter account -- which carried 600k plus followers -- and declared himself in charge (below).

According to our sources, the hacker also broke into her email account and changed her personal security questions, as well. We're told Tami has used her email account for 14 YEARS and she's scared to lose a lot of her personal information.

Our sources say Tami reached out to both AOL and Twitter, but didn't receive a response back.

They say you are what you eat, so it's no surprise failed Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum loves him some anti-gay chicken.

The conservative 54-year-old just showed his support for controversial fast food chain Chick-fil-A -- whose president has been very vocal about the company's support for all things anti-gay lately -- by tweeting, "With two of my boys, Enjoying chick-in-strips and awesome peach shake at Chick-fil-A."

Then, in a reference to fellow GOP evangelical Christian Mike Huckabee's campaign for a Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day on August 1st, Santorum added, "See you here next Wednesday."

"Office" star Ed Helms is officially boycotting Chick-fil-A ... claiming the restaurant chain's anti-gay stance has caused him to lose his appetite.

Helms is responding to a statement issued by Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy ... who recently told a Christian publication that when it comes to accusations his company is actively opposed to gay marriage, Chick-fil-A is "guilty as charged."

Cathy claims his chicken people support the "biblical definition of the family unit." In fact, Chick-fil-A reportedly donated nearly $2 million towards religious groups that oppose gay marriage in 2010 alone.

The comments clearly didn't sit well with Helms ... who tweeted, "Chick-Fil-A doesn't like gay people? So lame. Hate to think what they do to the gay chickens! Lost a loyal fan."
