11:28 AM PT -- The suspect's name is Mauricio Ortega -- a former executive at a Mexican news organization called "Diario La Prensa."

According to La Prensa, Ortega resigned from his position on March 14th. The paper was unaware of the investigation into Ortega until today.

Here is video of the man suspected of stealing Tom Brady's Super Bowl jersey ... according to Ian Rappaport of NFL Network ... and it sure looks like he's got something under his arm.

The suspect was captured on video by FOX, the network that aired Super Bowl 51 -- and while his face is blurred, you can see his tie is terrible.

We are told the frame that shows the suspect clutching an item under his arm is what blew the case wide open for authorities.

The video was first aired on "The Herd with Colin Cowherd" on FS1.

Officials have said the suspect was a credentialed member of the media. His name and alleged media organization have not been released.

The Broncos helmet is likely that of Von Miller, as Jay Glazer reported.

We're told no cleats have been recovered ... at least not yet.

Glazer said Miller's cleats also went M.I.A. after Super Bowl 50. Unclear if it's connected to this investigation. The man who jacked Tom Brady's Super Bowl jerseys may have ALSO stolen Von Miller's helmet and cleats from Super Bowl 50 ... so says Jay Glazer.

Glazer appeared on "Undisputed" on FS1 and said investigators used video footage to identify the suspect in the Super Bowl 51 caper.

Glazer says investigators saw the suspect enter the locker room behind Bill Belichick and leave a short time later with something tucked under his arm.

Glazer says the suspect had a legitimate media credential -- but may not be a real journalist. He may have been running a scam.

And get this ... Glazer says the Denver Broncos believe the suspect hit Von Miller in the previous Super Bowl.

Houston PD Blames NFL Security For Stolen Tom Brady Jersey

3/20/2017 9:38 AM PDT
Breaking News

The Houston PD wants to make it perfectly clear it was NFL security that had watch over the Patriots locker room ... and therefore it's NFL security who should get the blame for Tom Brady's jersey going missing.

Chief Art Acevedo says it was the Houston PD that led the search for the jersey and should get the majority of the credit for its return.

Acevedo says he put a "handful" of investigators on the case because of the national and international attention ... and felt it was the only blemish on an otherwise perfect Super Bowl.

Acevedo says Houston PD developed the first major lead from an informant that led officials to the suspect.

Acevedo did give some credit to the FBI and other law enforcement agencies but it's clear he wants everyone to know HPD was the leader.

As for NFL security, Acevedo says he hopes the NFL can learn from the incident and correct the way it handles Super Bowl locker room security moving forward.
