Roger Goodell NFL's Looking Into Antonio Brown Video

1/19/2017 12:45 AM PST
EXCLUSIVE

NFL commish Roger Goodell tells TMZ Sports ... the NFL is officially looking into the Antonio Brown locker room video incident.

Goodell was leaving a media event for the Los Angeles Chargers when he decided to mingle with the fans ... signing autographs, posing for selfies and even talking a little football.

At one point, Roger asked the crowd who they liked in the Super Bowl ... one fan said, "Not the Patriots!" Someone added, "Cheaters!"

Another fan said, "As long as the Cowboys aren't there" -- Roger smiled at that one.

Les Moonves Best Super Bowl Matchup (For TV Ratings) Is ...

1/18/2017 8:42 AM PST
EXCLUSIVE

Two cities are gonna be real upset ... 'cause TV super boss Les Moonves -- the guy who runs CBS -- is telling TMZ Sports which two teams are the best Super Bowl matchup for TV ratings.

We got Moonves in L.A. with wife Julie Chen when we asked him which two teams mean the biggest bucks for the network broadcasting the game this year (it's FOX).

It's tough ... GB has a red-hot Aaron Rodgers, ATL has the best offense in the league, New England has this pretty boy QB people like ... and the Steelers give you unprecedented locker room access.

Don't be mad ... Les is just keepin' it real.

NFL Says Lady Gaga NOT BANNED from Talking Politics ... At Super Bowl

1/17/2017 2:53 PM PST
EXCLUSIVE

0117-lady-gaga-tmz-01The NFL tells TMZ Sports ... Lady Gaga has NOT been instructed to keep her mouth shut about politics and Donald Trump during the Super Bowl halftime show ... despite reports to the contrary.

A report surfaced earlier Tuesday that Gaga -- who's famously outspoken about social issues and politics (and is anti-Trump) -- was specifically told to keep politics out of her performance.

But an NFL spokesperson is calling B.S. -- telling us, "This is unsourced nonsense from people trying to stir up controversy where there is none."

"The Super Bowl is a time when people really come together. Lady Gaga is focused on putting together an amazing show for fans and we love working with her on it; we aren’t going to be distracted by this."

10/4/2016 7:09 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Cuba Gooding Jr. doesn't think there are racial overtones when he's mistaken for Terrence Howard.

Cuba was leaving Craig's in WeHo Monday night when he weighed in on the Television Academy mistaking Terrence for him in a tweet this year at the Emmys.

One other thing he makes clear ... he doesn't need Lady Gaga to score Super Bowl tickets.

L.A. Reid Pumped for Gaga at Super Bowl ... 'Incredible' Choice

9/30/2016 10:00 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

L.A. Reid says he's stoked the NFL tapped Lady Gaga for the Super Bowl LI halftime show ... despite the fact he once DROPPED her from his record label.

True story.

Back in 2006, Reid 86'd Gaga from Epic Records ... and now calls it "the biggest mistake of my career."

He recently explained the whole situation to FOX 5 saying, "I feel a little bad about it. I do. I feel bad. I signed her. She comes in, she plays the piano, she’s incredible, she sings, I sign her, I tell her she’s going to change music. A couple of months later I say, maybe I wasn’t right. Maybe I don’t like this so much and I make the biggest mistake of my career. I dropped Lady Gaga."

Good news ... they managed to move past it -- and he's still a huge fan.

Breaking News

0929_lady_gaga_nfl_tmz_gettyLady Gaga has been promoted from the National Anthem at last year's Super Bowl ... to headlining Super Bowl LI in February ... the NFL has confirmed.

The timing couldn't be more perfect for Gaga ... who is launching a new album in October.

Gaga received all types of praise for her rendition of the National Anthem at Super Bowl 50 -- and clearly impressed the NFL enough to lock her down as the halftime performer for Super Bowl LI.

Gaga follows Coldplay -- who performed at Super Bowl 50 -- and joins an esteemed group of S.B. halftime alum that includes Beyonce, Katy Perry, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty ... and of course, Prince.

Tanya Tucker Super Bowl Overdue to Go Country, Again

8/16/2016 7:27 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

Yeah, Adele would've been great but since she's out, it's high time the Super Bowl halftime show go full country -- according to country music legend Tanya Tucker.

Tucker performed at the SB in 1994 along with Travis Tritt, Clint Black and The Judds -- but other than Shania Twain in 2003, it's been all pop and ancient classic rock artists. We got TT in NYC and she broke it down real quick -- there's one artist who'd be perfect for such a big stage. And no, she's not ruling out a duet either.

BTW, if you forgot that '94 halftime, it's probably 'cause the game was a joke ... Cowboys beat the Bills for the 2nd straight year.

Don't blame country ...

8/4/2016 12:29 PM PDT

We caught up with the country star Thursday at LAX and straight up asked which Super Bowl role he'd choose -- headline the halftime show or play QB in the game? The former college QB doesn't skip a beat.

We also ask Sam why chicks in men/women duets don't get the same billing as men country singers.

His answer will melt your heart ... again.

NFL's Emmanuel Sanders I Never Take Off My Super Bowl Ring Not Even When I ...

He may not be married, but Emmanuel Sanders says he has a "Til Death Do Us Part" relationship with a ring ... the one he got after the Super Bowl ... 'cause he NEVER takes it off.

The Denver Broncos wide receiver hit 1 OAK in Hollywood after the ESPYs -- wearing his precious -- when we asked if he got Peyton Manning a retirement gift.

"No, but I did get him a Super Bowl ring!"

Check out the clip -- Sanders says the Broncos got insurance for the ring in case he loses it, but he's not worried ... 'cause it ain't coming off his finger, EVER!

Pepsi Sued Over Super Bowl Commercial ... You Jacked Our Idea!

6/7/2016 9:58 AM PDT
EXCLUSIVE

0607_-Janelle-Monae_pepsiAn advertising agency is calling bah bah bah bah BS on Pepsi (get it, like the jingle?) -- claiming the soda company jacked its idea for their fancy 2016 Super Bowl commercial with Janelle Monae ... and now they're suing.

You know the ad ... it starts with Janelle dancing to the '60s hit "Do You Love Me" in front of a jukebox -- before moving to another room with '80s music ... and another room with a more current vibe.

Turns out, an ad agency called "Betty, Inc." claims they came up with a virtually identical idea and pitched it to Pepsi back in November ... but the two sides couldn't agree on a deal.

Betty says Pepsi emailed them in December to tell them they were going in a different direction.

Fast forward to February ... when the ad aired -- an ad that Betty says was based on their concept.

Betty's pissed -- and wants Pepsi to pay up for stealing their idea ... especially since Pepsi hailed the spot as a smashing success.

A rep for Pepsi said, "This lawsuit is without merit and we plan to vigorously defend ourselves."

Willem Dafoe Who Wants My Super Bowl Dress?

6/6/2016 12:10 PM PDT

0606_Willem-Dafoe_snickers_commercialThink you got better legs than Willem Dafoe? You might get your chance to prove it ... 'cause the Marilyn Monroe dress he donned for his Super Bowl 50 commercial is hitting the auction block.

You remember the clip ... Dafoe rocked a replica white dress from Marilyn's legendary subway grate scene from "The Seven Year Itch" for a Snickers commercial. Funny stuff.

Now, the folks at Julien's Auctions got their hands on it -- and are putting it up for grabs at their Monroe-themed auction in September.

So, how much is it going to go for?

Hopefully A LOT -- because all proceeds will benefit Feeding America, the nation's largest hunger relief organization.

FYI, Marilyn's original white dress went for over $4.6 million at auction back in 2011 when Debbie Reynolds -- another Hollywood legend -- sold it from her private collection.

That's a WHOLE LOTTA candy bars.
