Mel Gibson did NOT rumble down under with a female photographer ... according to his attorney, who says cops have concluded the whole thing was BS.

Gibson's lawyer, Christopher Murphy, tells TMZ ... police investigated the claim made by the photog -- that Mel had shoved her in the back and spit on her during a tirade last week -- and found no evidence to support her story.

Murphy says police spoke with witnesses in the Sydney suburb where the incident allegedly went down, and also reviewed security camera footage.

Cops nabbed the guy who allegedly sent creepy packages to a "Dance Moms" star who is a minor -- and they believe some of the items he sent were pornographic.

TMZ has learned the suspect is named Phoenix Sundown ... and San Diego PD arrested him Tuesday afternoon. As we reported earlier ... the packages arrived at a Pennsylvania post office on Tuesday, and the bomb squad was called in to destroy them.

36-year-old Sundown was booked for sending explicit or obscene matter to a minor -- specifically images of a minor engaged in sexual conduct. He's being held on $25,000 bail.

We've spoken to reps for the "Dance Moms" student to whom Sundown sent the package. We're not revealing her name because of her age -- but the rep tells us Sundown started harassing the child 2 months ago.

The rep says Sundown would post pics of Elizabeth Smart, tag the the "Dance Moms" star ... and included the hashtag, "#futuregoals." They immediately reported the activity to police.

Former "16 and Pregnant" mom Whitney Purvis tried to clean up -- allegedly attacking her ex with a broom -- and still got herself arrested. Again.

Purvis was busted in Rome, GA on Wednesday afternoon after police say she broke into Weston Gosa's home by throwing a wheel through 2 windows -- and then whacked Gosa with a metal broom handle.

She allegedly hit Gosa in the leg and side. 23-year-old Purvis was booked for felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor trespassing.

Purvis and Gosa are familiar with jail -- they've been arrested multiple times for everything from DUIs to stealing a pregnancy test.

One of the kids on "Dance Moms" got a bunch of suspicious packages in the mail -- and the bomb squad was called in to destroy them.

According to a report, the packages -- sent to a P.O. Box in Allegheny, PA -- contained an Elvis blanket, a tribal-style blanket, a coffee maker, a scrapbook and handwritten letters. Authorities aren't revealing the intended recipient ... since he or she is a minor.

After intercepting the packages Tuesday at the post office, cops said there didn't appear to be any explosives -- but just to be safe, the bomb squad destroyed them with a water cannon.

Bad Religion guitarist Greg Hetson is having a hard time shaking his ex-wife ... so hard, he had to call the cops.

Hetson claims in a restraining order, ex-wife Alia Blue has incessantly showed up at his LA home and each time refuses to leave. He's afraid to leave town because sometimes she just shows up and makes herself at home.

Greg says she just won't accept the fact they divorced 2 years ago and he doesn't know what to do when she bangs on his door for an hour, demanding to hash out their relationship.

Hetson says both he and his daughter feel threatened by Alia and the judge agreed to temporarily protect them. A full hearing is scheduled next week.

Master P won't rest until his estranged wife is homeless, phone-less, and penniless -- according to Sonya Miller who is begging the court to force him to pay up immediately.

Sonya says Master P pulled out the big guns last week in their divorce war ... by having security guards block her from entering the Calabasas gated community where she lives with their 7 kids. The issue is ... Master P pays the rent, but in docs filed last week ... Sonya says he's threatening to stop paying. She also says he cut off her cable service at the home, and her cell phone.

There's more ... Sonya says Master P told her he was going to have her SUV repossessed ... which, she points out, would force her and the children to walk in the blazing summer heat of the Valley -- possibly aggravating her hernia and vertigo.

Judge Joe Brown is celebrating his freedom after doing the exact opposite of hard time -- 5 days in a Memphis jail for contempt of court -- and lashing out at the court that sent him to the pokey.

Judge Joe sounded off on TMZ Live today -- hours after his release -- accusing the Shelby County, Tennessee court system of widespread racism.

Brown goes as far as saying black lives don't matter in Shelby -- but believes he's now in good company after his brief stint in lockup. Think ... mini MLK or Mandela.

TMZ Sports has obtained the mug shots for former San Francisco 49ers teammates Ray McDonald and Ahmad Brooks ... taken after they were charged with sexual crimes stemming from a 2014 incident.

McDonald -- who has since been cut by the team -- was indicted by a Santa Clara County Grand Jury last week on one count of rape of an intoxicated person. The accuser is a 30-year-old woman who says the incident took place at Ray's home.

As for Brooks -- he's still on the 49ers -- and prosecutors have charged him with misdemeanor sexual battery against the same woman.

The alleged victim claims she met McDonald at a bar in San Jose, CA on December 14th and went back to his nearby home. The woman claims she remembers falling and hitting her head near Ray's hot tub and woke up in his bed.

She claims Brooks groped her in a sexual manner while she was unconscious ... and says surveillance video will prove her story.

As for Ray, he claims the sex was consensual.

McDonald will be arraigned on September 25.

11:38 AM PT -- The Lakeland PD has filed a criminal complaint against Gates, charging him with simple battery. The case is now in the hands of the State Attorney's Office.

Kevin Gates is learning ... brutally kicking a fan is a good way to get the cops crawling up your ass, and he's about to face criminal charges.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... police in Lakeland, FL are working with the State Attorney's Office and expect the rapper to be charged for the incident that went down over the weekend. Gates unleashed the kick on a woman who had tugged at his shorts.

The woman was struck in the midsection, and went to the hospital. Based on the video alone ... it appears he severely overreacted.

It's unclear what the charge will be against Gates, but it's expected to come down sooner than later.

Gates also got into it with fans during a March show in Michigan ... but was not charged.

Jay Z raps about being a "pimp in every sense of the word" -- but in reality, Jigga wants to keep his fat pockets and criminal past under wraps when it comes to his court battle over "Big Pimpin'."

Jay filed docs asking a judge to keep his wealth from the eyes of the jury hearing his illegal sampling lawsuit. He's being sued by a man who claims Jay lifted an Egyptian composition for the 2000 mega-smash hit. In the docs, Jay Z says his bank account and rap sheet have nothing to do with the case.

The plaintiff claims Jay stole the tune, so that makes the rapper's criminal past relevant.

The judge is still deciding what he'll allow in court.

Judge Joe Brown's back on the outside after spending 5 days in what he calls "slave quarters."

The ex-TV judge completed his sentence in Memphis Tuesday morning, and ripped the jail experience. JB told People, "Jail's jail. It's boring, it's dirty, but I survived. I'm breathing free air."

As we reported ... Brown was locked up for contempt of court -- he went off on the judge last year when he was an attorney on a child support case.

Chris Brown is chomping at the bit to face his baby mama in custody court ... and the biggest weapon in his arsenal is the woman's boyfriend.

Chris and Nia Guzman will fight it out in 2 weeks. She wants full custody of 1-year-old Royalty and visitation for Chris, BUT only if it's monitored. She says he's a bad guy who hangs with criminals and smokes weed. Chris wants joint custody.

But we're told Chris thinks her argument will boomerang right back in her face, because her boyfriend, King Ba -- the guy who lived with her and is even named on Royalty's birth certificate -- is a wanted man ... on the run for felony forgery.

We're told Chris is eager to tell the judge Nia has terrible judgment ... hooking up with a con man.

As we first reported, Chris believes Nia's real motivation has nothing to do with custody ... she wants to squeeze more child support out of him. He's currently paying $2,500. She wants $15k.

As for Nia, her rep tells us, she's no longer with King Ba.

Convicted felon and legendary scumbag Lenny Dykstra has allegedly struck again ... this time, he's accused of stealing $50k in jewelry from Charlie Sheen's porn star ex-fiancee... TMZ Sports has learned.

UCLA football star Ishmael Adams -- considered one of the best cornerbacks in the country -- was arrested this weekend after allegedly robbing an Uber driver ... right in front of a police station!!

A spokesperson for UCLA confirmed the 21-year-old was busted at 3:30 AM on Sunday morning for "allegedly using force to take a cell phone from an Uber driver."

The incident took place right in front of UCPD headquarters, this according to the Daily Bruin.

Officials tell us Adams was booked and is being held on $100,000 bail.

Cops say the Uber driver sustained minor injuries.

One of Chris Brown's fans is blaming the singer for the gunshot wound he suffered during a Bay Area concert back in January.

Paul Briley filed a lawsuit against Brown for the shooting that went down at San Jose's Capricorn Bash. In the suit, Briley says Brown failed to provide enough security.

TMZ broke the story ... 5 people were injured when the shots rang out around 1:30 AM.

Briley says he sustained permanent injuries. He points out that Brown had multiple violent incidents at concerts before the San Jose show ... and therefore, should have had more security.

A deputy opened fire on a man outside the WWE's training center in Orlando -- seriously injuring the guy ... who has a history of bizarre incidents at the WWE.

An Orange County Sheriff's deputy confronted Armando Montalvo at the WWE Performance Center on Monday afternoon. The situation reportedly turned violent, and that's when the deputy fired.

According to docs, obtained by TMZ, the wrestling org. got a restraining order against Montalvo earlier this month after a string of violent run-ins at the facility. Earlier this summer, the WWE says Montalvo spread his feces and urine on the building. He even posted video of himself mixing the human waste and reduced fat milk in a bucket.

On multiple occasions ... he allegedly showed up in a wrestling outfit, banged on windows, and threatened to kick everyone's ass because they wouldn't hire him. One of the times he was swinging a large chain, and police had to subdue him at gunpoint.

Just 5 days ago, Montalvo posted a video of himself outside the building saying he was going to go ask for a job. He said, "What's the worst they can say?"

Montalvo had to have surgery after Monday's shooting.
