They might suck at the moment, but Jack Black refuses to turn his back on the L.A. Lakers.

Black was out in L.A. last night when he was asked if he would ever consider buying a sports team -- or at least part of one ... a la Usher (Cleveland Cavs) or Justin Timberlake (Memphis Grizzlies).

Jack, being the huge Purple and Gold fan that he is, picked the Lakers ... but noted he could "probably get it for a steal right now."

But, as Black points out ... if the Clippers sold for $2 BILLION -- how much would the Lakers sell for if the Buss family was looking to unload????

There are some experts who believe the Lake Show could be worth close to $5 BILLION!!!

The Lakers are rallying around their new teammate Wayne Ellington ... after getting the news that the guard's father was murdered in Philadelphia.

Ellington's father was killed Sunday night. The Lakers say they've given Wayne an indefinite leave of absence while he copes with the tragedy.

Ellington's 57-year-old father was shot while sitting in his car Sunday night. Police say an unknown gunman shot him in the head, and he died later at the hospital. So far they have no leads on a suspect.

The Lakers GOT IT MADE ... so says Snoop Dogg, who had a strong opinion about what Charles Barkley should eat to celebrate the team's 1st win of the season -- ALLIGATOR SOUFFLE!

FYI -- last week, Barkley had said he was going to stop eating until the 0-5 Lakers finally won a game.

Well, the Lakers beat the Hornets on Sunday ... so on his way out of Supperclub in Hollywood, Snoop had a dinner recommendation for Sir Chuck.

Seems Nick Young and Iggy Azalea are one step closer to the alter ... because they just bought a house together -- and Nick says they've started talking about marriage.

Nick just spilled his guts about his relationship with the rapper to DuJour Magazine ... saying, "Me and Iggy just bought a house. We’ve been getting really close lately. I’ve never been with somebody like this."

The couple has only been dating for about a year ... but when Nick was asked if the two have talked about getting married, he replied, "It’s come up a couple times."

Nick wouldn't say if they have a time-table on tying the knot -- but ya don't just buy a house with someone you don't plan on being with for a while.

The Oscar-nominated actress was leaving Craig's in L.A. this weekend -- when we asked if there was a shot the 40-year-old baller would return to the squad after suffering ANOTHER major injury.

After an 0-3 start, the L.A. Lakers are in trouble ... but Lil Romeo says he's got the solution -- SIGN HIM.

Here's the thing -- we don't think he's joking ... since Romeo played college ball at USC with his good friend and NBA star Demar DeRozan ... and he's earned a reputation for being one of the best celeb ballers in Hollywood.

"Me and Chris Brown -- the two best celebrity hoopers ... I bet if we were on the Lakers they'd be championship contenders," Romeo told us.

Los Angeles Lakers rookie Julius Randle got some unexpected support this morning after breaking his leg in his NBA debut -- when two players from the opposing team visited him in the hospital.

Randle broke his right tibia while the Lakers were playing the Houston Rockets in L.A. on Tuesday night -- and was rushed to a hospital where he underwent surgery.

But before he went under the knife Wednesday morning, he was visited by James Harden and Trevor Ariza ... who stopped by to check up on the 19-year-old.

We're told Randle was touched by the visit ... and was in good spirits overall.

Sucks that Randle is injured ... but a pretty cool gesture from some respected NBA vets.

There's still a HUGE reason to go to Lakers games this year -- not for the team (they're not great), but for the stargazing ... and Tuesday night some of the BIGGEST showed up at Staples Center.

Kim and Kayne ... Will Ferrell ... Terrell Owens ... Gerard Butler ... Adam Levine, Jack Nicholson and many, many more were all on hand to watch the Lakers get their asses kicked by the Houston Rockets.

The question is ... if the Lakers continue to play horribly (as many experts predict they will) ... will the stars begin migrating over to the OTHER team that plays at the Staples Center -- the Clippers?

Steve Nash's latest injury setback might be the death knell of his NBA career, so says former roundball stud Sidney Wicks, who tells TMZ Sports it's OVER for the Lakers point guard.

Wicks was at LAX when our camera guy asked him what every purple and gold fanatic wants to know ... will the 40-year-old Nash ever lace 'em again after suffering yet another injury to his ailing back?

TMZ Sports spoke with the NBA legend out in Malibu this week -- and Riley made it clear, the Mamba will have his revenge on the network for ranking him #40 on the list of the best players in the league.

Of course, Kobe took issue with the ranking himself -- calling ESPN a "bunch of idiots."

L.A. Lakers star Nick Young is finally stepping in to the war between his GF Iggy Azalea and Snoop -- calling the rapper a loser who's going through a "midlife crisis."

Snoop has been tormenting Iggy for days -- first making fun of the way she looks without makeup .... then comparing her to Marlon Wayans in "White Chicks."

Iggy fired back -- tweeting at Snoop that she didn't understand why he was being so mean to her. She also posted a pic comparing him to a "drugged out" old woman."

Snoop responded to that ... with a video in which he called Iggy a b*tch and a *c**t" -- and warned her "n**ger" to keep her in check.

Finally, Young decided enough was enough -- and joined the fight on Twitter ... writing, "Ain't nobody worried about no SnoopLion .. This dude Just goin thru a midlife Crisis."

He added, "You Go get convertible yet . OG's out here losin."

Young also posted another tweet seemingly directed at Snoop -- saying, " These old heads turnin into sucka's."

Iggy Azalea was standing by her man Monday ... even when he couldn't ... escorting Lakers star Nick Young out of a medical building following surgery on his thumb.

Besides his GF, Nick's parents were also there as he was wheeled into a waiting ride in L.A. -- after undergoing surgery to repair the torn radial collateral ligament in his right thumb.

Despite the fact he'll be out for 8 weeks, we're told Young was still smiling on his way out of the surgical center ... possibly because he'll still be raking in paychecks from his new 4-year $21 million contract.

The ex-girlfriend of L.A. Lakers player Jordan Hill has dropped her lawsuit against the 27-year-old -- after claiming he beat the crap out of her back in 2012 -- and all signs point to a settlement ... TMZ Sports has learned.

We broke the story ... Hill was charged with felony assault -- and ultimately pled no contest -- after his ex Darlene Luna claimed he punched and choked her during an argument in their Houston apartment back in Feb. '12.

Hill got a one-year deferred sentence and a $500 fine in exchange for his 'no contest' plea -- but Luna lawyered up with Gloria Allred and sought big money in a civil suit.

Now, we've learned Luna has officially DROPPED her lawsuit -- with prejudice -- which means she can never refile against Hill for the incident ever again ... usually a telltale sign of a settlement.

We reached out to Allred and asked about a possible settlement -- to which she replied, "The matter has been amicably resolved."
