Mary Tyler Moore Death Creates Problems for Famous House

Published | Updated

Mary Tyler Moore's death has created a big problem for a real estate company that is trying to sell the house used in her iconic TV show -- how do you sell it without creating a fan frenzy?

The exteriors of the house were featured for years on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," although interiors were shot on a Hollywood soundstage.

Get this ... the house, listed by Barry Berg and Chad Larsen with Berg Larsen Group of Coldwell Banker Burnet, went on the market 4 years ago and no one was biting. The people who bought it paid nearly $3 mil but they're trying to unload it for a skosh under $1.7 mil.

Here's the problem. MTM is an institution in Minneapolis, and Mary's death has people in the city scrambling for memories. The realtors want to hold an open house this weekend, but they don't want lookie-loos ... they want serious buyers.

So, the plan now is to discreetly tell realtors to bring clients and then quietly invite them.

Good luck.

Published | Updated

It's creepy and it's kooky, not really mysterious but spooky ... 2 years after his death, Ken Weatherwax, aka the OG Pugsley on "The Addams Family" TV show, is closer to getting a proper Hollywood burial.

Ken's family friend, Scott Michaels, has launched a fundraiser to cover the cost of making Ken's final resting place the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

Ken's ashes have been with his nephew since he was cremated after his fatal 2014 heart attack.

They already have a spot in the famed mausoleum reserved, but it ain't cheap. They're looking to raise $7,500 by April to cover fees. The fund launched Wednesday night and has raised $700 so far.

Ken will be in good company -- Mickey Rooney, Anton Yelchin, Cecil B. DeMille and Johnny and Dee Dee Ramone are all chilling at Hollywood Forever.

Mary's most acclaimed movie was "Ordinary People" -- she got an Oscar nom for Best Actress -- so it's no surprise sales for the film have skyrocketed too -- up almost 3,000% on Amazon.

Yordano Ventura Crash Investigators Believe He Was Speeding

Published | Updated

Transportation authorities in the Dominican Republic tell TMZ Sports they believe Yordano Ventura was speeding at the time of his fatal crash.

The K.C. Royals pitcher was traveling on a mountainous highway around 4 AM on Sunday when he lost control and flipped his customized Jeep ... killing him in the process.

We're told the speed limit in the area is 25 kph ... which is only about 15 mph ... and a local official tells us they believe there's evidence showing he was over the limit.

Officials have previously said Ventura was driving through a foggy area and over-corrected when his tires went off the road. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was thrown from the vehicle.

We're told there was no obvious signs of drugs or alcohol at the scene -- but toxicology tests are being done anyway. Results can take about 3 weeks.

Royals Pitcher Yordano Ventura Killed in Car Crash Same Day As Andy Marte

Published | Updated

Kansas City Royals ace pitcher Yordano Ventura was killed Sunday in a car crash in his native Dominican Republic ... the same day former MLB player Andy Marte also died in a separate crash in the same country.

Ventura was known for his electric fastball, but also for his short temper. He was suspended for 9 games last season for throwing a ball at an Orioles 3rd basemen.

His nickname was Ace Ventura, and he was on the team when the Royals won the World Series in 2015. Ventura finished 6th in the Rookie of the Year vote in 2014.

At his last game, Ventura wore a hat honoring the late and fellow pitcher Jose Fernandez. The hat also paid tribute to the late St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Oscar Taveras, who also died in a car crash in the Dominican Republic a few years ago.

The Royals confirmed Ventura's death Sunday, saying "Our prayers right now are with Yordano's family as we mourn this young man's passing."

As for Marte ... he was a third basemen in the MLB for 14 years, having played with the Braves, Red Sox, Indians, and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Ventura started in Marte's last professional game with the D-backs in 2014.

Ventura was 25 years old, Marte was 33.

Marilyn Monroe Mausoleum Marker Up for Grabs

Published | Updated

Marilyn Monroe fans have a chance to score a pretty rare relic -- one of the markers on her final resting place ... but it won't be possible unless you've got a fortune.

The bronze marker was removed in the '80s from Marilyn's mausoleum at Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in L.A. and replaced with a new one ... which happens every so often because fans manhandle it and it gets worn.

This is the marker that ID'd her final resting place. Now, more than 30 years later, it's up for grabs.

Heritage Auctions tells us opening bid is $10k, but it's expected to haul in a lot more -- a marker from the '70s went for $212,500 in 2015.

Online bidding will begin in about a month and the live auction will be on March 18.

Ferg was presented with a custom 14k white gold chain and piece featuring a new moniker for the late producer: Yamborghini. The piece is also laced with 65 carat diamonds ... meaning it'll burn your eyes out with its sparkle and shine.

The chain and piece was designed by jewelry company IF & Co., and took 1 month to design and make. We're told jeweler Ben Baller was personally responsible for overseeing its creation and transfer to Ferg for Wednesday night's Yams Day 2017 concert.

Yams died 2 years ago on January 18 due to a drug overdose.

Less than a year after Harambe's tragic death, another gorilla has died at an Ohio zoo, but this time of natural causes.

Colo, known as the queen of the Columbus Zoo, died in her sleep Tuesday. She was 60.

While she was less famous than Harambe she had a rather special call to fame as the oldest gorilla to be born into and live in captivity. She also lived a lot longer than most gorillas, whose usual lifespan is 40 years, and got a special shout-out from Betty White back in December when she turned the big 6-0.

The zoo is planning on cremating Colo and burying the ashes on their premises.

The primate is survived by 3 kids, 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandkids. #RIP.

WWE Legend Jimmy Snuka Dead at 73

Published | Updated

Jimmy Snuka, the WWE Hall of Famer, has died after losing his battle to stomach cancer.

Jimmy wrestled from the 1970s onward ... all the way through 2010. Jimmy came into the WWE as a heel, and became famous for his acrobatic wrestling style. He eventually turned and became a good guy. He had a number of shots at the WWE championship -- both as a villain and hero -- but never won.

The Fijian wrestler, also known as Superfly Snuka, would often punish his opponents with his signature move -- the Superfly Splash ... which was an epic body slam.

Jimmy was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1996, while continuing to wrestle. He was managed by the famed Captain Lou Albano.

Jimmy's daughter, Tamina, who's also a WWE superstar, just tweeted, "I LOVE YOU DAD." The Rock also said in Samoan, "Alofa atu i le aiga atoa" which means, "Family is forever."

Snuka was charged with 3rd degree murder in 2015 in connection to the 1983 death of his then-girlfriend Nancy Argentino. The charges were dismissed just 12 days ago, after the judge determined he had dementia and terminal cancer ... and was about to die.

He reportedly last wrestled in 2014 ... in a cage match. Jimmy died Sunday at the age of 73.

THE EMOTIONAL REVEAL

Back in May, Mike had alluded to his father's illness while performing on "Conan," where he changed the lyrics to his hit song "I Took a Pill in Ibiza" to ...

And my dad has cancer
I'm still wrapping my head 'round that
Sat by the hospital bed, nurses poked in their heads
And asked me to sign autographs
And my dad has cancer!
I shouldn't be here, I should be home
But in case you couldn't tell, I'm busy playing myself
In this little Mike Posner show

Nothing's cooler than that.
