Karmelo Anthony's new attorneys are making a bold first move ... asking for a new trial and trying to sideline the judge who presided over his murder case.

The defense filed two major motions Tuesday -- one seeking to remove Judge John Roach from all remaining post-trial proceedings, and another asking the court to throw out Anthony's conviction altogether. Anthony's lawyers argue the new-trial issues should be decided by a different judge and want Judge Roach to recuse himself.

In the recusal motion, Anthony's attorneys point to Roach's post-verdict interview with a local TV station and his written statement to Fox News ... arguing he publicly endorsed the guilty verdict, defended his courtroom rulings, and declared Anthony received a fair trial -- comments they say make it impossible for him to fairly rule on the defense's post-trial motions.

Nolan Wells' friends are grieving his devastating loss ... flooding social media with touching tributes to the teen.

As you know, the 18-year-old's body was found in the water near Mississippi's Horn Island Monday ... he'd been missing since Saturday, when he and some pals took a boat out to the island.

And now, his friends are mourning his tragic death online, sharing sweet snaps and meaningful messages about what Nolan meant to them.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's epic wedding bash at Madison Square Garden ended up hosing some local businesses ... and when one pub dared to speak up, Swifties lashed out.

Andrew Gillum -- the former Florida politician who lost to Ron DeSantis by a slim margin in the 2018 governor's race  -- allegedly had methamphetamine, cut straws, weed, pipes and a bong on him when he was arrested in Alabama.

According to the incident report, obtained by TMZ ... Gillum was arrested last week on U.S. Highway 98 near Walmart Drive in Daphne, where cops say they found 3 grams of methamphetamine, 8 pre-rolled marijuana joints, 4 cut straws, 3 pipes, and a bong during the bust.

Police say they pulled Gillum over because he was driving erratically.

We broke the story ... the ex-gubernatorial candidate was arrested and charged with felony unlawful possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

2:27 PM PT -- Nolan's family hired prominent civil rights attorney Ben Crump and is calling for a "thorough and transparent investigation" into the teen's death, according to a press release.

The mystery surrounding the death of Mississippi teen Nolan Wells has taken another twist ... law enforcement is investigating a viral video that allegedly shows a heated Fourth of July confrontation on Horn Island, near where his body was found.

Check out the clip ... it appears to show a tense argument involving several people gathered near the shoreline as boats line the beach.

The video has sparked widespread speculation online that it could be connected to Nolan's disappearance -- but, so far, there's no confirmation that's actually the case.

Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter tells TMZ his office is aware of the circulating video, and investigators are actively looking into it as part of the ongoing investigation.

Louise Lasser -- famous for her work in Woody Allen movies and her starring role in "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman" -- is dead.

The actress died on Monday at her home in Manhattan ... according to multiple reports. The official cause of death is unclear but Variety reports she died of natural causes.

The comedy actress and writer got her start in Woody's films before getting the top billing in the iconic "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman" ... where audiences around the country would see her marvelous portrayal of an Ohio housewife on nighttime TV Mondays through Fridays.

Lauren Bennett's sudden death is under investigation in England ... and while the coroner is involved, it could take months before we have any answers.

UK authorities tell TMZ ... the Kent and Medway Coroner Service is leading the death investigation, which will proceed until October 30.

We're told Lauren died May 29 in Meopham, and the death investigation was opened on June 12.

A private memorial service in London was held in the musician's honor about a week and a half ago, with Lauren's family and closest friends gathering to celebrate her life ... including her former bandmates from G.R.L. and Paradiso Girls.

Tyler Robinson, the 23-year-old alleged assassin of Charlie Kirk, is now in the second day of his preliminary hearing ... and a law enforcement officer is testifying against Robinson's noticeable limp -- caught on video the day of the shooting -- which is claimed to be because of a weapon tucked in his pants.

Check out the video ... Tyler is seen going up a flight of stairs on Utah Valley University campus with a noticeable limp ... and this was moments before he allegedly assassinated Charlie Kirk.

Police are saying that limp is not because of any physical injury or deformity, but rather because he had a gun -- or perhaps part of a gun -- tucked away in his pants which inhibited the use of his leg.

Family friend Allayah Denis started the crowdfunding page less than 24 hours ago ... and it's already raised $100,000 in Nolan's memory.

Allayah wrote on GoFundMe ... "Nolan Xavier Wells was a beloved son, grandson, brother, friend and teammate whose life touched so many people. His smile, kind heart, and love for others left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him."
