At first glance, the pics seem to back up reports the Chicago Bears QB was the one who did the dumping ... because why the hell would K-Cav put herself through the misery of a wedding shoot if she was contemplating breaking off the engagement???

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler will be about 110 pounds lighter when he enters training camp this year ... because he just dropped his fiancee, ex-MTV star Kristin Cavallari.

10 months after they began dating ... and just 3 months after they got engaged ... People.com is reporting the couple has split ... and suggest it was Jay who did the dumping.

Pretty shocking news considering they just hit Miami together earlier this month.

Williams recently filed the lawsuit against Brooke -- a former Miss Texas USA he dated for about a year -- but her mom tells TMZ the ring was returned to Williams' attorney yesterday near Houston.
