Chris Brown was just on the receiving end of the old adage, "If at first you don't succeed, try try again," because Karrueche FINALLY was able to serve him with legal docs triggered by alleged death threats.

And speaking of adages, it's the classic insult to injury, because Chris was served at his birthday bash. We've confirmed he was leaving Grooves nightclub in Houston when a process server slapped him with papers ... and Chris was pissed.

TMZ broke the story ... Karrueche wants a judge to order Chris to stay clear of her, claiming he threatened to shoot her and has resorted to physical violence, punching her in the stomach and throwing her down the stairs.

The hearing is set for later this month.

Another comeback for Julian Edelman?

Just a few months after calling it quits, the Patriots WR and supermodel Adriana Lima reconnected in NYC Monday night to party together after the Met Gala ... but it's not exactly a reconciliation.

The two were spotted together hitting up Rihanna's after-party at 1 OAK -- where they arrived in the same car.

Our sources tell us things were pretty frosty between the two after they split earlier this year -- but it seems the ice has thawed. We're told they're definitely NOT back together but it's clear they're on much better terms.

Edelman and Lima were not each other's dates for the Gala -- Edelman arrived to the affair with fellow Pats WR Danny Amendola and they sat at Tom Brady's table.

Stephen Belafonte gave the LAPD an audiotape in which you hear a woman -- whom he says is his baby mama -- try and extort him for a million bucks, and TMZ has obtained the audio.

Belafonte claims the woman on the phone is Nicole Contrereas. They were together for 6 years and have a 12-year-old daughter named Giselle. Contreras tells us she's not the woman on the tape.

You hear the woman in the call -- recorded March 20 -- tell Belafonte, "I'm gonna take you down" unless he pays her $500,000. She later ups the demand to $1 million.

She says Mel B's people asked her to tell her story, which says is "so ugly."

The woman, who sounds intoxicated, refers to Giselle and monthly payments Belafonte deposits in her account.

She rambles on, saying she will "bury" Belafonte.

The LAPD has the audio and is conducting an extortion investigation.

Kenya Moore's ex-BF, Matt Jordan, no longer has to stay away from her because a judge tossed the restraining order when she couldn't find him to serve legal docs.

Kenya's temporary restraining order was dismissed Wednesday after she was a no-show at a hearing on the matter. Kenya's lawyer tells TMZ ... she only skipped court because she knew the judge would toss it once he heard Matt hadn't been served.

You'll recall ... Kenya said Matt was blowing up her phone 30 times a day and had also threatened her. The temporary restraining order required him to stay 200 yards away from Kenya.

Stephen Belafonte did Mel B dirty and she's not the only one ... so says a woman who had a baby with him.

Nicole Contreras was at Craig's Wednesday, and she had nothing nice to say about her ex. She says, among other things, Belafonte is a deadbeat dad who has not paid child support for their 12-year-old daughter, Giselle.

She didn't marry Belafonte but, based on the timeline, it looks like Mel B was Belafonte's rebound after breaking up with Nicole.

Ellie Goulding ran into her ex bf during his gig in "Magic Mike Live," and decided to take him for a ride ... suspended above the stage.

Ellie was sitting front row Saturday at the new Las Vegas revue when her ex, Jackson Williams, pulled her onstage for one of his airborne stunts. You can probably figure it out from the video, but the stunt is called the "air f***."

Sources at the show tell us a bachelorette is supposed to be called up for the segment, but Jackson called an audible and chose Ellie instead. She didn't seem to mind catching up with her former backup dancer turned bf.

We're guessing Ellie felt safe with a guy who's been trained by Channing Tatum himself.

Mel B says her estranged husband is involved in the porn industry, and that means he shouldn't be allowed to have unmonitored visitation with their kids.

Mel B's attorneys are in court fighting Stephen Belafonte's efforts to regain visitation rights. Mel currently has a restraining order which bans him from all contact with the kids.

In court, her counsel said there was "evidence" on multiple computers in the family home that indicates he's connected to porn, and possibly shooting it himself. They claim there's a paper trail on him renting spaces around L.A. to shoot porn.

The hearing is still in progress, but so far the judge is leaning toward awarding Stephen monitored visits with Madison, the daughter they have together. However, the judge is also denying Stephen's efforts to get any visitation with Angel ... Mel and Eddie Murphy's daughter.

Mel B is not disputing what her former nanny claimed in her defamation lawsuit against the singer -- that Mel B, husband Stephen Belafonte and the then-nanny had 3-ways for 7 years ... but Mel B says the 2 of them crossed the line.

Sources connected with the singer tell TMZ ... Belafonte hired Lorraine Gilles and then convinced both her and Mel B to have 3-ways, which they did over a period of 7 years.

Mel B claims the deal was broken several years ago when Belafonte and Gilles had sex without her. According to Mel B sources, she claims sometimes they would have 3-ways, but other times Belafonte and Gilles would do it together without her knowledge.

Our Mel B sources claim Belafonte convinced her to have 3-ways with numerous people over the 10-year marriage.

Nick Cannon has been hanging out with Mariah Carey in public a lot lately, and he says that won't change ... for one obvious reason.

We got Nick Saturday night going into Au Fudge, where he was meeting up with Mimi and the kids. We asked if it's coincidence they've been seen together quite a bit since Mariah's breakup with Bryan Tanaka.

Jimmy Gulzar has a question for Mel B -- if Stephen Belafonte is as bad as you say he is ... why did you let our daughter live with him all these years?

Mel's ex-husband blasts her for failing as a mom to keep their 18-year-old daughter, Phoenix, out of harm's way with Belafonte. He says he's known for years Stephen had a gun which he's not allowed to own, and claims it's another example of Mel's poor parenting.

Mel B's ex-husband, Jimmy Gulzar, claims she goes to great lengths to block their 18-year-old daughter from visiting him.

Gulzar -- who was married to Mel from 1998 to 2000 -- was out in WeHo Thursday, and claimed Mel B carried a grudge when it came to his relationship with their daughter.

He claims Mel B gave their daughter an ultimatum ... which involved cops and the law.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are official ... so Nick proclaimed Thursday night as he squired her out of a fancy restaurant.

The two dined at Mr Chow in Bev Hills and left together in the same car.

Nick doesn't think they ever really went their separate ways, even though he had a baby with another woman and she was engaged, dumped the guy and then got a new BF.

Fact is ... relationships come and go, but kids are forever, and they have 2.

Mel B's former nanny is filing a lawsuit against the singer, claiming she told lies about her in the divorce case against Stephen Belafonte.

TMZ has learned the lawsuit centers on declarations Mel B filed in which she claims Belafonte and Lorraine Gilles told her they had an affair and that Lorraine was pregnant with his child. Mel B also claimed Gilles had an abortion.

Mel B goes on to accuse Gilles and Belafonte of pilfering money from her.

In another declaration, Mel B claims Lorraine has control over her sex tapes and might disseminate them.

There are numerous exhibits and pictures in the lawsuit which Gilles believe will convince a jury Mel B's allegations are a pack of lies.

Carmelo Anthony and La La are hashing out a temporary custody agreement in which she will get primary custody of their son ... TMZ has learned.

Sources close to the former couple tell us 10-year-old Kiyan will live with La La in NYC, but Melo has a totally open line of communication and will able to spend time with his son as much as he'd like.

We're told the 2 believe they can work out all the details without going to court ... it being done with their lawyers.

Both Carmelo and La La agree it's important they work out a structure for Kiyan so he's not whipsawed from place to place while they end their marriage. We're told La La has issues with Carmelo for sure, but she's adamant he's a great dad and deserves time with his son.

We're told they are absolutely getting divorced, even though legal docs haven't been filed ... yet.

Mel B has alienated Stephen Belafonte's daughter and stepdaughter from him ... and now he wants a judge to make things right ... so says Belafonte in new legal docs.

When he last saw them he says the 2 kids told him, "Mommy is really mad at you and that's why she won't let us come and see you."

Belafonte claims his 5-year-old daughter, Madison, and 10-year-old stepdaughter, Angel, miss him terribly, yet he hasn't seen them in 3 weeks. He says he's received "a series of heart wrenching text messages from Angel," including "I Love You," "Daddy Where are you" followed by a crying emoji. Belafonte says he couldn't reply to them because of the restraining order.

As for Angel, whose biological father is Eddie Murphy, Belafonte says she hasn't seen Eddie since birth and had no idea Stephen was not her biological dad.

Stephen is asserting his rights under a California law that gives stepparents visitation, claiming he was a highly involved parent since birth. He says he's the only parent who cooks. He also says he plays games with them, cuddles with them and tells them stories.

La La Anthony's got her own team of all-stars helping her cope this week with her split from Carmelo.

Kim Kardashian, Serena Williams, Ciara and Kelly Rowland are among the close friends who've gone "above and beyond" to be there for La La ... sources tell TMZ. Two of those women -- Kim and Ciara -- have gone through very public breakups, so they've been offering La La advice with positive phone calls and support.

La La also had dinner Wednesday night at Del Posto in NYC with Ludacris and his manager, Chaka Zulu ... who considers her a little sister.

We're told La La's main focus is taking care of her son and staying busy with work -- she's shooting for "Power." Her friends, meanwhile, are trying to surround her with positive vibes.
