"Saturday Night Fever" Starlet Is Stayin' Alive

Published | Updated

Disco may be dead but, believe it or not, John Travolta's "Saturday Night Fever" co-star isn't! More than a woman!

While the 1977 film made Travolta an international phenomenon, his female co-star, Karen Lynn Gorney (remembah huh?!), hustled off into obscurity. And that ain't no jive talkin'. Although disco duck John was a Scientolono-show, Karen, who played Tony Manero's dance partner, turned up at a special 30th Anniversary party for the dance classic in Manhattan on Monday. She finally made it out of Brooklyn!

While her career may have turned to dust, at least the 62-year-old is holding up better than Travolta's weave!

Trolling through the IMDB page for the new Brad Pitt movie "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," one cast member pops out from the rest -- Brad's daughter!

The Spawn of Brangelina is listed among the credits, below the likes of Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton and Elle Fanning. Shiloh is credited below Dakota's little sis? Somebody call her agent!

The movie, based on a 1922 short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is about a 50-year-old man who begins aging backwards -- perhaps Shiloh plays the role of Brad as an infant? We can see the resemblance.

Move Over Optimus Prime, "Voltron" Is Coming

Yet another '80s cartoon is set to hit the big screen -- "Voltron." And I'll form ... the head!

New Regency is working with the Mark Gordon Co. to turn "Voltron: Defender of the Universe" into a live-action film. That formula worked out pretty well already this year -- "Transformers" anyone?

The studio also has "Alvin and the Chipmunks" scheduled for a December release -- and the writer of "Voltron," Justin Marks, penned the script for "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe."

As much as we'd love to rip these people and throw in a line like, "Doesn't anyone in Hollywood have an original idea anymore?" -- it's freakin' "Voltron," man!

"Bourne Identity" Director Dishes

Published | Updated

Director Doug Liman has a major hit on his hands, but his exclusive EW "Bourne Identity" diary reveals that the blockbuster auteur almost didn't get to make the movie -- and that megastar Matt Damon's career depended on "Bourne's" success.

Liman says that he first had to convince "Bourne Identity" author Robert Ludlum to let him make the film. Then, he had to secure a studio and a leading man.

Liman eventually scored Matt Damon, but then two of Damon's movies bombed before "Bourne" started shooting.

"Matt tells me his career is now fully riding on this movie -- three strikes and he is out," wrote Liman. "Worse, the director of one of those movies has literally been hospitalized, a casualty of his creative battles with his studio." No pressure!

Liman later went on to produce the "Bourne Supremacy" and the "Bourne Ultimatum."

Are People Still Into "Just Not That Into You"?

Published | Updated

After failing in the talk show world, Greg Behrendt's immensely popular book, "He's Just Not That Into You," is now being developed as a feature film starring Drew Barrymore and Jennifer Connelly. Drew Barrymore in a romantic comedy? Get out!

The book, a self-help man-guide for women, was spun off from a 2003 episode of "Sex and the City," which used the title as a catchphrase. Behrendt is listed on IMDB as having served as a consultant on the show in 2001 -- meaning he didn't even work on the episode. This guy has made a career off of six words he didn't even write!

Behrendt gained notoriety for the book after several appearances on "Oprah." He landed his own talk show last year, but it was canceled after one season -- when viewers just weren't that into it.

Matt Leinart -- 'Acting' Like a Good Dad Should?

Published | Updated

NFL stud Matt Leinart has scored himself another high profile job -- but TMZ has learned the pretty boy QB is busting his ass to make sure his new Hollywood gig doesn't interfere with his daddy duties.

A spy on the L.A. set of a new Adam Sandler project has confirmed that Leinart landed an acting role in the untitled flick, featuring "Scary Movie" star Anna Faris. While sources claim Leinart is serious about the part, we're told that he's only shooting on days he's not scheduled to visit his 9-month-old son with baby mama Brynn Cameron, and when he's free from any football obligations with the Arizona Cardinals. But according to Brynn, Leinart's "Hollywood stuff" is taking his focus away from being a good parent, as she complained to the Ventura County Star, "It's kind of hard for me as the mom ... he comes and goes whenever he wants."

When contacted by TMZ, Leinart's rep wouldn't talk about the movie, but assured the Cardinal faithful that "Matt is focused right now on his way to training camp. He has a job to do with the Arizona Cardinals. That's all we have to say about that."

As TMZ first reported, Leinart is embroiled in a nasty legal battle with his Cameron, who is asking for more than $30K a month in child support from the $50 million-contract jock.

Vin "Begging" for Fourth "Furious"? Not So Fast.

Published | Updated

Is Vin Diesel's career so pacified that he's "begging" to get back behind the wheel of a low-riding Japanese import tuner?

A source tells TMZ that contrary to a report in Sunday's Page Six, Vin isn't desperate to do the fourth installment of the "Fast and the Furious," and the reason he passed on the second and third sequels was because he was off doing other hits -- like "Chronicles of Riddick" and "The Pacifier."

As for the Post's report about his current project, "Babylon A.D.," being in deep financial straits, and rampant on-set clashes between Diesel and director Mathieu Kassovitz, we're told that there was "no scandal," and that "the budget of the film was over as is normal" for such big-budget projects.

Get into John Travolta's Dress

John Travolta, 53, allegedly donned a fat suit (and another wig!) to fit into this fabulous pink sequined dress for his turn as Edna Turnblad in "Hairspray," and now the glittering pink frock can be yours!

Thanks to New Line, the actual outfits from the movie are being auctioned on eBay to benefit City Meals on Wheels, which helps needy New Yorkers, and Harry's Fund, which assists sick kids.

Lohan Flick Crashes Over Cash

Published | Updated

TMZ has learned that the Lindsay Lohan/Shirley MacClaine crime caper pic "Poor Things" was brought down by problems with cash flow, and not by Lohan's recent mini vacation in Vegas, as today's Page Six reported.

"The spending was out of control," we're told, and that ultimately caused the film's demise.

As for the Post's report that it was Lohan's hard-partying ways that sent the film packing -- not true. Lohan's arrest on suspicion of DUI happened just a few days before she was set to start shooting. The production company, it seemed, was fine with waiting for Lindsay's recovery, even telling TMZ that Lindsay would be shuttled back and forth from Promises in Malibu to the set in Santa Monica. That, obviously, never happened.

Lohan's rep, Leslie Sloane Zelnik, would not discuss the project, saying only that Lindsay was "not the reason" for the film's problems.

A call to the film's production company was not immediately returned.

Good Will (Gay) Hunting

Published | Updated

In the latest issue of GQ, Matt Damon talks about how, when they were younger, he and Ben Affleck wanted to buy the exact same car. But each tried to talk the other out of it, "Because we knew it would just be so gay to get the same car." Maybe not the best choice of words, either.

TMZ had qualms with the usage of "gay" -- since it's not exactly politically correct to use the word "gay" to mean "bad" or "negative." But then, after thinking about it -- for two best friends who wrote and starred in the same movie, won an Oscar together and have generally been linked together for their entire careers -- buying the exact same car really is sooooo gay!

For Your Consideration ... Brokeback Barrio?

Gay Mexican cowboys are all the rage! Ride 'em vaquero!

Sensing that homo Hispanics are Hollywood's next trendy disenfranchised minority group du jour, shirtless "Capote" star Clifton Collins Jr., and "Napoleon Dynamite's" Efren Ramirez's twin brother Carlos joked that they made an "Oscar type" film about "two hot Mexican lovers" called, "Wetback Mountain"/"Brokeback Barrio." I wish I knew how to quit you, papi!

It's too bad no such movie really exists, because it sounds infinitely funnier than Adam Sandler's upcoming faux-gay marriage "comedy," "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry."
