Jeremy Roenick U.S. Women's Shootout 'Top 3 Moments In Hockey History!'

Published | Updated

Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson's insane shootout goal -- which essentially clinched the gold for Team USA -- is one of the TOP 3 MOMENTS in hockey history ... so says Jeremy Roenick.

Roenick was at the Women's Hockey gold medal game at the Olympics in South Korea -- and tells TMZ Sports the energy in the building was INCREDIBLE when Jocelyne hit the shot.

What's more impressive, Roenick says ... is the fact Jocelyne was able to perform such an incredibly difficult move under such incredible pressure!

Roenick also says the fact the women's team was able to bounce back after a power play loss at the last Olympics and win gold -- with 10 rookies on the team -- is simply amazing.

Roenick still hasn't gone to sleep after the game -- he was very excited -- and told us everyone should be proud of Team USA!

Bob Costas Mike Tirico's Killin' It at the Olympics ... No Hard Feelings!

Published | Updated

If ya think Bob Costas is bitter about Mike Tirico holding his old seat in Pyeongchang, think again -- 'cause Bob tells TMZ Sports Mike's doing "a great job" with Olympics coverage.

Costas wasn't keen on talking gun control (remember his Sunday Night Football speech?) when we got him out in Bev Hills -- but he was as friendly as ever to our guy, and seemed legitimately happy for his NBC successor.

There were some rumors that Bob's passing of the torch might not have been entirely up to him ... but either way, looks like things are all Gucci.

Guessing it helps that he's in L.A. instead of freezing his ass off.

FYI, Costas began hosting Olympics coverage for NBC back in '92 and hadn't missed the Games until he hung it up this year.

Miley Cyrus Shaun White's Gold Has Me Feeling Like ...

Published | Updated

Miley Cyrus elevated Shaun White to Almighty status (holy hell ... check out that candle!!!). Just some of the perks of winning a gold medal.

Miley hung out with the Flying Tomato a week after he brought home gold for crushing the halfpipe event in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Dude landed back-to-back 1440s on his final run to help the U.S. clinch its 100th all-time gold medal at the Winter Olympics.

Shaun also seems to have bounced back after getting slammed with questions surrounding a 2016 sexual harassment lawsuit against him. Helps when his old pal refers to him as an American legend.

Winter Olympics Alpine Skiers Want to Hook-Up Most Says Dating App

Published | Updated

PyeongChang's Olympic village is hook-up central for alpine skiers ... who are hitting the dating app, Bumble, as hard as they hit the slopes.

Bumble says most competitors -- from all countries, not just the U.S. -- have seen a 50% spike in swipes since the games started a little over a week ago. Translation: someone's gotta help you "stretch" on your off days, right?

That mostly applies to athletes who love going downhill -- Bumble says the alpine skiers are getting more hook-up action than their fellow Olympians. According to the app ... hockey players rank second, freestyle skiers and cross-country skiers tie for third. Snowboarders and ski jumpers bring up the rear.

Ya won't get crucial stats like that on NBC!

It's also good info to keep in mind while watching the Games. You're welcome.

Gold Medalist Eric Radford Trudeau and Canada Embraces Openly Gay Athletes

Published | Updated

Justin Trudeau makes gay athletes feel lucky as hell while President Trump and his lackeys make them feel like second-class citizens ... that's the sad truth according to the first openly gay athlete to win a gold medal at the Winter Olympics.

Canada's Eric Radford says he's gotten a hero's welcome after he and figure skating partner Meagan Duhamel won gold this week in PyeongChang.

It's a stark contrast to the drama U.S. figure skater Adam Rippon's dealing with after snubbing Veep Mike Pence, who invited Rippon to meet with him after his bronze win. Rippon declined ... citing Pence's staunch opposition for gay rights (he once referred to gay marriage as "societal collapse").

Check it out ... Radford extends his own invite to Rippon. Guessing he'll definitely accept!

Olympic luger Chris Mazdzer's historic silver-medal finish didn't just come with one of those cute plush white tigers ... it came with a buttload of dirty messages, since his win also made him a big heartthrob.

Mazdzer became the first U.S. men’s singles luge medalist ever and says he can't keep up with the way his phone's been blowing up, mostly with congratulatory DMs ... but some want him to take it off.

The Olympic Village is known for being a Tinder-friendly international hook-up zone, and Chris says the layout makes it super convenient.

BTW ... he's got a hot girlfriend. Sorry.

GOIN' FOR THE GOLD

Kangaroo loving Utah Jazz guard Dante Exum is letting USA Basketball know ... the future of International basketball could be down under, 'cause the Australians are up next.

The Aussies have some hoopers -- including Ben Simmons, Patty Mills, Joe Ingles, Matthew Dellavedova and more -- so when we got Exum in L.A., we asked if the Star & Stripes should be worried.

Exum clearly thinks so, telling our guy Australia should've done better in the last Olympics, and absolutely WILL do better in the next games, promising an appearance in the Gold medal game.

Be careful Dante ... you're in America, ain't no koalas here to help you if you start talking too greasy on us.

James Caan Jokes About Shaun White Who Didn't He Sexually Harass? (Except Me)

Published | Updated

James Caan doesn't seem too shocked about the Shaun White sexual harassment case -- telling TMZ Sports, "Everybody had sexual harassment. How the f*ck do you think we repopulated?!"

Caan was riffing on the topic outside Craig's in West Hollywood -- where he took a second to make one thing perfectly clear ... "I mean, I never did anything wrong!"

Caan's clearly joking about the situation -- but we guarantee Shaun's accuser ain't laughing ... just last night, she issued a statement slamming the snowboarder for minimizing her allegations by referring to it as "gossip."

Shaun White Slammed by Accuser ... My Case Isn't Gossip!!!

Published | Updated

Shaun White's sexual harassment accuser -- his former bandmate Lena Zawaideh -- is furious he referred to the case as "gossip" ... and she's carefully unloading on him, through her attorney, in a way to avoid violating the terms of her settlement.

"Yesterday, Shaun White used the word 'gossip' to refer to the past sexual harassment lawsuit by his former drummer ... our client," says Lena's lawyer, Lawrance Bohm.

He continues ... "There are powerful legal forces at play which prevent Ms. Zawaideh from speaking about the allegations and ultimate outcome of the sexual harassment case."

"Before Mr. White made his comments, [Lena] believed that this matter was in the past and she was happy to put the situation behind her ... Unfortunately, by his recent comments and conduct, Mr. White has minimized the problem of sexual harassment in this country."

"Mr. White's comments, on the world stage, directly impugn the character of Ms. Zawaideh. No woman wants to be called a 'gossip' or a liar by the harasser. Minimizing sexual harassment maximizes the harm to Ms. Zawaideh."

He concludes ... "Hopefully, before our country declares someone 'the best of the U.S.' there will be investigation and due diligence."

As we reported ... White apologized on the "Today" show Wednesday for dismissing his sexual harassment case as "gossip" when an ABC reporter asked him about the allegations possibly tarnishing his legacy. The question came up at the media conference following Shaun's gold medal run on the men's half-pipe Tuesday.

We broke the story ... White was sued by Zawaideh in August 2016 for allegedly sexually harassing her for years, and had text messages to back it up. She claimed during her 7-year run with the band, White would text her penis pics, sex videos involving fecal matter and demanded she change her hairstyle.

White denied the allegations, but ultimately settled the case with Lena in May 2017.

Shaun White Sorry For Sexual Harassment Case Comments

Published | Updated

Shaun White says he's "truly sorry" for referring to his sexual harassment case as "gossip" -- saying, "It was a poor choice of words to describe such a sensitive subject in the world today."

The snowboarding legend appeared on the "Today" show early Wednesday to address the comments he made during Tuesday night's post-Olympic media conference ... where he was asked about the graphic sexual harassment suit filed against him in 2016.

TMZ Sports broke the story back in August 2016 ... White was sued by his female bandmember, Lena Zawaideh, who claimed White would text her penis pics, sex videos involving fecal matter and forced her to style her hair in a way that appeased him during her 7-year run with the group.

White denied the allegations -- but ultimately settled the case with Zawaideh in May 2017, the terms of which were not disclosed.

But Tuesday night in South Korea -- right after White won gold in the men's halfpipe -- he was asked by an ABC reporter to address the allegations. White said he was there to talk about the Olympics, not "gossip."

ADDRESSING THE ALLEGATIONS

A second reporter wanted to ask follow-up questions about the case, but was shut down by the moderator.

There didn't seem to be a lot of mainstream media interest in the case back in 2016 and 2017 -- interesting why not.

I'LL NEVER FORGIVE HIM

America's Olympic Luger Chris Mazdzer says he isn't having any issues in or out of the Olympic village in PyeongChang 'cause Ryan Lochte taught him exactly what NOT to do.

Chris just made history as the first American man to medal in singles luge, and he told us things are going smoothly for U.S. Olympians in S. Korea. A much different story from the disaster Lochte created during the Rio games 2 years ago.

THE GAS STATION VIDEO

You'll recall ... Lochte was at the center of an international scandal when he was charged with filing a false police report about being robbed at a gas station. He was eventually cleared, but not without a lot of hoopla and intrigue.

Chris made it clear to us ... he's still pissed about the swimmer's antics, but added it's pretty easy to avoid a repeat of any Lochte-like shame at the Winter Olympics.
