Sources tell TMZ West was not scheduled to attend the New Yorkers for Children's 8th annual "Wrap to Rap" event at the Ainsworth in NYC this afternoon ... but around 6:00 PM, he strolled right in and asked if he could help out.

We're told some people at the event asked West why he decided to roll in -- and Kanye explained he simply felt compelled to lend a hand because he believed it was a good cause.

Our sources say West cheerfully wrapped some of the 2,000 gifts that were donated by Wal-Mart ... and then quietly slipped out the back.

A rep for Kobayashi tells us .... the Kobester is set to chow down at a close friend's home -- where he will get his own turkey with all the trimmings ... including corn on the cob, beets, okra and pumpkin pie.

The rep tells us Kobayashi is “excited to gobble up." We're guessing he's also excited for that mega-nap after the feast.

Apple and Cider -- the luckiest turkeys on the planet -- were hanging out at the W Hotel this morning ... moments before their big moment at the White House.

A rep for the turkeys -- yes, the turkeys had a rep -- told us each bird had their own separate room at the hotel ... with bottled water and "good, clean beds."

Dressed up like a court jester, Rosie emptied out the garage of her Nyack, NY home last night and filled it with boxes and boxes of giant sized candy ... all for the lucky costumed kids in her neighborhood.

We're told the kids were allowed to take as much candy as they wanted -- and if that wasn't cool enough ... everything was King Size!!

The video that inspired this "costume" -- in which Anna was whacked out of her mind and couldn't remember if she was pregnant -- was admitted as evidence in the Howard K. Stern prescription drug case.

Now, with Stern and Anna's former psychiatrist Dr. Khristine Eroshevich being found guilty of conspiracy -- Anna's former friend thought this would be funny.

Is it?

We're told the Brown family will be hitting up a costume party on Sunday -- and the four wives will be dressed up like earth (Janelle), air (Christine), fire (Meri) and water (Robyn).

As for fifteen of their sixteen kids (it's hard to keep up with them all) -- we're told they'll be disguised as two vampires, one hippie, two nerds, one goth fairy, one regular fairy, one zombie, an M&M, Cleopatra, a gangster, an angel, a mobster, a "Twilight" vampire, and one "ugly mask."
