As we previously reported, John Travolta is currently hammering out a deal to play the bossman himself.

It's no small movie either -- according to sources, the budget so far is $75 million.

No word yet on what Lindsay would be getting paid -- but hey, a job's a job.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the trailer for H.O.2 -- which is rated R -- debuted on April 1 in front of the movie "Source Code" -- which is rated PG-13.

The MPAA is ticked because one of their main objectives is to make sure movie advertising is in sync with the ratings system.

A rep for Warner Bros -- the company behind the flick -- tells TMZ, "In our haste to meet the placement schedule for this trailer, we failed to properly vet the final version with the MPAA. We acted immediately to correct the mistake and removed the trailer from screens."

The movie's called "Eyes of a Dreamer" and is being produced by Brad Wyman ... one of the guys who did "Monster" with Charlize Theron.

The part of Charles Manson will be played by celeb photographer Tyler Shields -- whose work you might recognize -- and get this ... Tyler's directing the whole shebang.

We're told the whole thing is going down next month at the Pasadena Convention Center -- and all proceeds will help Smith foot the bill for distribution of his new movie, "Red State."

We broke the story -- in 2009, Sly learned his custom built 1950 Mercury was about to be auctioned off by a company that provides "on-camera vehicles" for movies.

Sly never directly accused the company of stealing his ride ... he just wanted the damn thing back -- so he filed a lawsuit to regain possession.

Now, TMZ has learned, Stallone and the company reached a settlement ... under which Sly will regain ownership of the whip ... estimated to be worth more than $250,000.

It's unclear if any money changed hands ... but who cares, Sly's getting his "Cobra" car back!!!

The whole thing's hosted by an organization called "Profiles in History" ... and it's scheduled to go down in May in Beverly Hills.

The "Chitty" car -- still functional by the way -- is the crown jewel of the auction, estimated to sell for anywhere between $1-2 million. Other awesome items to hit the block include:

-- James Dean’s tweed jacket worn in "Rebel Without a Cause"
-- An original production cell from "Cinderella" signed by Walt Disney
-- A real-life EVERLASTING GOBSTOPPER from "Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory"

Gough has one hell of a resume dating back to the '40s ... including "Out of Africa" and "The Boys from Brazil."

Ironically, the guy Tarantino is feuding with is another Academy Award winning writer -- Alan Ball -- the guy who wrote "American Beauty" and created "True Blood."

According to Quentin's lawsuit, filed today in L.A. County Superior Court, Tarantino claims ever since Ball installed an "exotic bird menagerie" -- Quentin has been forced to endure the "obnoxious pteradactyl-like screams" of the macaw birds.

In fact, Q claims the noise has "seriously disrupted [his] ability to work as a writer in his home."

It's just one of the allegations made by the director and a producer of the animated flick "Escape from Planet Earth" ... a movie about aliens escaping from Area 51 ... which was supposed to be made by The Weinstein Company. The movie was never completed.

According to the lawsuit, the Weinsteins -- who also executive produced "The King's Speech" -- were "out-of-control" ... and ran the project into the ground. Among the allegations:

-- The Weinsteins often issued "incessant, incoherent, and even contradictory notes" about the movie and forced the writer to re-work the script 17 times.

-- Harvey Weinstein paid Kevin Bacon $25,000 NOT to be in the film ... despite the fact that Bacon previously agreed to take a role for $50,000 ... all because Weinstein felt $50,000 was too much to pay Kevin Bacon.

-- The Weinsteins kept 200+ animators on payroll doing nothing because they couldn't get the script locked (see above).
