Chad Johnson is putting the "MAN" in manicure -- telling TMZ Sports he hasn't missed a mani-appointment since 1999 ... and he's damn proud of it.

The former NFL superstar showed off his nail job in a photo on Instagram -- and our crack news team immediately noticed that it appeared the guy was sporting a "gel" job on his digits.

We reached out to Chad ... who told us, "I always get gel so my sh*t doesn't chip" ... adding, "That's all I care about on women, so I have to be right."

Chad says he's obsessed with having polished paws -- and says he's been a regular at his local nail salon "every Friday since 1999 ... I've never missed."

Comer Cottrell -- whose Curly Kit made the Jheri curl an insanely popular hairstyle among African-Americans in the '70s and '80s -- has died. He was 82.

Before Cottrell came along, the Jheri curl was a $200 process at a salon ... but his kit sold over-the-counter for about $8.00 ... and there was no turning back.

The hairstyle was famously parodied in "Coming to America" and the list of celebs who rocked it was epic: Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Eazy-E and Ice Cube ... and athletes like Deion Sanders, Eric Dickerson and Rickey Henderson.

He died last Friday.

Cottrell's soul is glowing in heaven now.

The soul of the sports world just lost a little of its glow ... 'cause Comer Cottrell, the man who popularized the Jheri cdeurl, has died at 82.

Cottrell founded the Pro-Line Corp in the '80s which manufactured the Curly Kit that allowed guys like Deion Sanders, Walter Payton, Pedro Martinez and Sugar Ray Leonard to ruin couches all over the country.

Apparently, there was a lot of money in dripping, because Cottrell was also part owner of the Texas Rangers from 1989-98 ... during which time Sammy Sosa was a proud curl wearer.

Bruce Jenner changed his look up for the Elton John concert in L.A. Saturday night.

B.J. went to the show with his son Brandon Jenner and Brandon's wife. Another random girl tagged along ... but no word on who she is ... or if it was any sort of date.

Bruce and Kris Jenner made their split official last month when Kris filed for divorce.

Taylor "Lil' Bit" Wright -- who quit the TV show "Party Down South" -- is rubbing her old bosses the wrong way ... with a line of body lotions that capitalizes on her reality show persona.

Wright's been on social media lately promoting a brand of moisturizer and suntan lotion called "Lil' Bit Country" ... but TMZ has learned the network honchos at Viacom (CMT's parent co.) sent her a cease and desist letter demanding she stop using her nickname to promote the skin care products.

Nicki Minaj just beat her hairstylist's ass in court after the judge wigged out.

Terrence Davidson had filed a $30 million lawsuit against Nicki ... claiming he helped design her multi-colored wigs and she in turn agreed to partner with him on a new line of the iconic hairpieces but then cut him out.

But the judge sided with Nicki ... dropping some serious wig knowledge in the process. Hizzoner explained there's nothing special about colored wigs ... anyone has a right to make them so Davidson's creative claim is bogus.

The judge called out 3 of Nicki's wigs to illustrate his point ... The Pink Upper Bun Wig, The Fox Fur Wig and the Pink High Top Wig.

The judge also said any so-called deal Davidson made with Nicki was vague -- nothing more than barber shop talk.

So case closed.
