This year's Golden Globes had an air of heaviness around it -- with the Time's Up blackout, and #MeToo ... but there were also moments of joy.

Lots of folks were having a great time ... Oprah, Nicole Kidman, Jessica Chastain, Halle Berry, Eva Longoria, Mariah Carey, Salma Hayek, Sarah Jessica Parker ... and many more.

The guys got in on the grins, too -- Nick Jonas, Neil Patrick Harris, James Franco, Hugh Jackman, and Ricky Martin all seemed pretty chummy at the show.

Seth Meyers came out swinging against Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey in a blistering opening monologue at the Golden Globes ... and he didn't pull any punches.

Meyers -- who's this year's host -- threw out two jokes aimed at the disgraced movie producer and actor back-to-back Sunday inside the Beverly Hilton hotel.

He said of Weinstein - the "elephant not in the room" -- "Harvey Weinstein isn't here tonight because, well, I've heard rumors he's crazy and difficult to work with. But don't worry, he'll be back in 20 years when he becomes the first person ever booed during the In Memoriam."

Meyers followed up right away with a jab at Spacey, saying ... "Well, despite everything that happened this year, the show goes on. For example, I was happy to hear they're going to do another season of 'House of Cards' ... is Christopher Plummer available for that, too?"

He also mocked Spacey's Southern accent in the show, adding ... "Oh, is that too mean? To Kevin Spacey?"

We're probably in for a long night.

The Golden Globes was a sea of black Sunday -- except for some speckles of red and white ... from a few ladies who apparently didn't get the memo.

The only women who appeared not to wear black in solidarity with the Time's Up and #MeToo movement were German fashion model Barbara Meier and actress Blanca Blanco.

Meier rocked a beige floral gown, and Blanco wore a revealing red dress -- reminiscent to her even more revealing outfit from last year's Globes.

They might not immediately stand out as Hollywood heavyweights -- Meier was a winner on "Germany's Next Top Model" ... and Blanco has starred in flicks like "Showgirls 2" and "Bermuda Tentacles."

The Prez of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Meher Tatna, also did not wear black to the show.

Debra Messing was the first actress in the Time's Up movement to take a swipe at E! on the red carpet for the Golden Globes ... calling them out for their apparent pay disparity.

Debra was being interviewed Sunday by E! host Giuliana Rancic, at which point Debra says ... "I was so shocked to hear that E! doesn't believe in paying their female co-hosts the same as their male co-hosts."

She goes on ... "I mean, I miss Catt Sadler. And so, we stand with her."

It was an awkward interaction, especially since Giuliana did not directly address Debra's gripe about Catt -- who recently revealed that she left E! after discovering her male counterpart, Jason Kennedy, had been paid nearly double her salary for several years.

As we reported ... these interviews are all live and unvetted. Clearly, anything goes.

Lots of women in Hollywood are showing up in solidarity for the 75th Golden Globe Awards -- dressed in all black ... and appearing with activists, including the founder of #MeToo.

Scores of actresses and their guests left their hotels for the Beverly Hilton hotel draped in a variety of black dresses and outfits.

Some big actresses have formed the activist group, Time's Up, and penned an open letter. Among them ... Meryl Streep, Reese Witherspoon, Debra Messing, Shonda Rhimes, Emma Stone, Charlize Theron, Sarah Jessica Parker and Michelle Williams, who brought #MeToo founder Tarana Burke as her guest.

The blackout was staged as a protest of sorts, but it's also an effort to raise money for a legal defense fund for victims of sexual misconduct in the workplace. As of Sunday, the group had already raised upwards of $15 million, with a goal of at least $16 mil.

The TV anchors and reporters covering Sunday's Golden Globes are walking a tightrope ... asking the wrong question or even an offhanded comment could put them in a world of hurt. Yet people involved in the coverage tell us, many networks aren't imposing ground rules.

We've spoken with several on-camera folks, all of whom say their bosses haven't given specific instructions on interviewing celebs. As one source put it, "They have clearly conveyed the sensitivity thing but haven't given me any instructions on what to say or what not to say."

One person who will be interviewing a number of celebs says, "Of course people are going to talk about the movement, but I also want to spend as much time on the celebration, celebrating their work."

Another personality says if someone goes off on Harvey Weinstein or anyone else for that matter, that person can have their say. The personality says, "Pretty much no matter what they say I'm not going to weigh in. It's not my place."

There has been a race to the finish for a number of stars who will be attending the Golden Globes -- a race to score a black dress -- and we know this because of a famous tailor who can't keep up.

We've been asked not to mention the name of the tailoring & alteration company but a huge number of stylists use this shop, so the employees have context.

We're told in the past 2 weeks, there has been an insane run on black dresses that have come into the shop. The number of dresses leaves stats for prior Golden Globes in the dust.

The owner tells us normally they have a staff of five but they've hired on 10 more in the last week or so because of the swell.

What's more ... the shop owner says normally stylists bring in 2 to 3 dresses for the Golden Globes. The range is now 6 to 10 dresses after the movement was announced.

The owner also told us stylists said to her they were worried lots of people would show up in the same outfit, so they're asking for small changes. The owner said they just turned a black dress backless and put a high slit on another.

Final thing -- the shop owner says some people have been asking for small hints of yellow ... underneath a slit, outlining a backless dress, a hem across the breast line.

The Golden Globes solidarity movement for Sunday night's show is clearly strong ... but judging from last year, wearing black to the Globes is also simply a fashion statement embraced by a bunch of stars.

The Golden Globes isn't as formal as some of the other awards shows, and black has been a default color.

Evan Rachel Wood says it's great that people want to wear black to the Golden Globes, and those who don't want to ... well that's great, too.

We got the "Westworld" star at LAX Friday and asked her about actors who will wear black in support of Hollywood's anti-sexual harassment movement. Evan's totally on board ... but she also supports anyone who has other ways of protesting.

Ben Affleck engaged in a sizable cover-up Saturday as he tooled around L.A.

Ben -- who loves his hogs -- was cruising around Brentwood on his BMW S1000 RR Superbike. It was designed to complete in the Superbike World Championships, but went into commercial production.

It's unclear if Ben's gonna hit up the Golden Globes Sunday night. He's taken heat in the sexual harassment movement and by all accounts there will be pointed references to the scandal throughout the evening.

It will be an interesting night.

Golden Globes nominees James Franco, Tracee Ellis Ross, Kyle MacLachlan aren't waiting around 'til Sunday's award show to start partying.

W Magazine held their Golden Globes pre-party at Chateau Marmont Thursday night and it brought out some big celebs.

Justin Hartley, whose show "This Is Us" is nominated for a Best Television Drama Series, showed up with his new wife. Kate Beckinsale, Salma Hayek, Jim Belushi, Cody Simpson, Selma Blair, Candace Cameron Bure and Mena Suvari were there too.

Gotta hand it to the East Coasters Tommy Hilfiger and Patriots owner Robert Kraft for making it out of town during the bomb cyclone. Must've been a helluva party.

Harvey Weinstein's not hanging out in L.A. preparing to crash a 'Golden Globes' party this weekend ... because he's still hundreds of miles away.

Rumors started circulating online Thursday the notorious producer had made his way back to Hollywood and was staying at a Beverly Hills hotel where press for the awards show was being done ... but it's not true.

TMZ's obtained a photo of Weinstein -- which we're told was taken around 4 PM Thursday in Arizona -- and word is ... he's not planning on going anywhere anytime soon.

A few actors -- including Rosanna Arquette and Ellen Barkin -- posted messages earlier suggesting Weinstein was in town ... and expressing disapproval.

Christopher Plummer has ice water in his veins when it comes to nailing a role -- which is why he says stepping in for Kevin Spacey in "All the Money in the World" was simple ... for him.

The acting legend was leaving Mr. Chow Friday night when we asked him how he pulled off shooting more than 20 scenes in 9 days ... with very little advance notice. His answer was basically -- ain't nothing but a thang. Except way more British and classy.

You'll recall, director Ridley Scott made the 11th hour decision to scrub Spacey after rape accusations surfaced, and he tapped CP for the role.

Fashion designer Michael Costello says stylists have cleaned him out of black dresses ... which is hard evidence a silent protest of sexual harassment in Hollywood is going down at the Golden Globes.

We spoke to Costello from his L.A. store, where he told us black designs flew off his racks in the past few days ... in the immediate wake of Monday's Golden Globes nominations.

There's a report more than 2 dozen women will be wearing black in solidarity, and Costello wasn't shy about name dropping some of his recent A-list clientele, including Meryl.

Netflix will be hosting its own after-party for 2018's Golden Globes Awards -- 'cause they've cut ties with longtime partner and co-host The Weinstein Company ... TMZ has learned.

Our Netflix sources tell us Netflix has opted to take TWC off the billing for their famous party after the awards ceremony in January -- and the allegations against its co-founder, Harvey Weinstein, have everything to do with it.

The Netflix-Weinstein after-party is one of the biggest shindigs during the Golden Globes -- they've been hosting it together for the past 3 years, and even held it at The Beverly Hilton in 2017.

TWC has been a prominent partner with the streaming service for a while now, having produced a handful of movies and shows for them -- including "Marco Polo" and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend."

As for the upcoming bash ... we're told Netflix hasn't locked down a location yet for their after-party, but sources say they're eyeing the Waldorf Astoria in Bev Hills.

Dana White says Meryl Streep is an "uppity 80-year-old lady" who was completely WRONG when she took a shot at MMA during the Golden Globes.

We spoke with the UFC honcho about Meryl's comments Sunday night -- when she was ripping Donald Trump's immigration plans and said if we kick out foreigners, "you'll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts, which are not the arts."

White objects in a BIG WAY -- calling the dig at his sport "stupid" and "uneducated."
