Robert Durst Arrested with Latex Mask In Apparent Attempt to Change Identity

Published | Updated

Robert Durst was apparently trying to change his identity with a latex rubber mask and a new name, and that's when authorities swooped in and arrested him ... TMZ has learned.

According to the search warrant, which we obtained, the mask -- which was recovered in the New Orleans hotel room where he was arrested -- covered his head and neck and served to completely alter the characteristics of his face. Cops also found a fake Texas ID with the name Everette Ward.

According to the warrant, Durst was using the mask and ID to flee the country. And get this ... also included in the docs, Durst had more than $42,000 in cash, but the money was in hundred dollar bills, parceled out in various small envelopes.

Authorities believe Durst wanted to use the envelopes to send money to the place where he was fleeing. Cops even found a UPS tracking number in the hotel, which Durst told them was so he could ship a large sum of cash.

The docs say Durst is worth $100 million and he was in the process of planning to ship a lot more than $42k. Authorities obtained bank records showing Durst withdrew $9k a day for 35 consecutive days ($315,000).

Authorities recovered the .38 Smith & Wesson revolver with one spent shell casing and 4 live rounds. It's unclear where the gun was fired.

And finally, police found 3 books in Durst's Houston apartment. Two copies of the same book titled: "A Deadly Secret: The Strange Disappearance of Kathie Durst" -- chronicling the murder of his wife, Kathie. He had 2 copies of the book ... one in paperback and one in hardback.

A rattled Stefani -- who had her 1-year-old son Apollo with her -- called police who spotted a suspicious man and questioned him. Turns out, it was just some random guy who happened to get some fresh air at the wrong time.

We're told investigators are still trying to track down whoever's sending the messages.

Marvin Gaye's Family Out for More Cash ... Targeting T.I.'s Pockets Now

Published | Updated

Marvin Gaye's family didn't score enough in their "Blurred Lines" lawsuit -- now they're going after T.I. and a few record labels to pay up ... on top of the $7.4 million they won last week.

Only Pharrell and Robin Thicke were hit with the judgement last week, but attorneys for the Gaye family want Universal Music, Interscope Records and Star Trak Entertainment to fork over some cash too -- as well as T.I., who rapped on 'Blurred.'

Attaching the record labels could be the first step toward the family's other goal -- getting an injunction to stop distribution of the hit song until Marvin gets a writer's credit ... and, of course, the family gets royalties.

And don't forget ... the family is also still deciding whether to file a separate suit over Pharrell's "Happy."

Jessica Alba She's Crushing My Dream, Honestly ... Candlemaker Claims

Published | Updated

Jessica Alba has cornered the market on the word "honest" ... according to a small business owner who happened to pick a company name dangerously similar to Alba's nearly billion dollar venture.

Kiki Rupert tells TMZ ... Alba's "The Honest Co." is making things very difficult for her candle biz "Honest Earth Candles." Rupert's been warned by the U.S Patent and Trademark Office she could be in big trouble because she could be creating confusion in the marketplace. Alba's biz also sells candles.

Rupert claims an Honest Co. lawyer notified her it obtained a trademark back in 2012. The bad news for Rupert is she didn't file her TM application until last November.

Rupert says she's invested thousands in her small biz, and a name change could ruin her. We've reached out to reps for Alba's company, but no word back yet.

The USPTO says Rupert can appeal its decision, but let's be honest -- she's gonna have to change the name.

Robert Durst Police Raid Houston Home

Cops are tearing through Robert Durst's Houston home right now ... possibly seeking evidence in the Susan Berman murder case.

Several marked and unmarked Houston PD cars pulled up outside Durst's high-rise complex Tuesday afternoon. The subject of HBO's "The Jinx" docuseries is still sitting in a New Orleans jail following his weekend arrest, and awaiting extradition to L.A to face a murder one charge.

It's unclear if the search warrant relates to the murder case ... or if cops in NOLA are trying to build a separate case. Cops there say Durst had a gun and drugs when he was arrested -- and there's a possibility he could face charges.

Suge Knight Hit & Run Victim Told Cops 'I Fu**ed Him Up!'

Published | Updated

The guy who survived the Suge Knight hit and run proudly told deputies ... he attacked Suge with a flurry of punches right before getting run over.

According to investigator's docs ... Cle "Bone" Sloan was still in his hospital bed when he described the incident to cops by saying, "I fu**ed him up!"

In the docs, Sloan adds he punched Suge several times through the driver side window ... and when Suge tried to exit his truck ... he punched him some more. That part of Sloan's story matches exactly with the surveillance video TMZ first posted of the incident.

But Sloan also told investigators he was attempting to walk away from the truck when he was hit -- but in the video he still appears to be fighting when Suge throws the truck in reverse and smashes Sloan.

Another inconsistency ... Sloan says he arrived at the Tam's parking lot AFTER Suge. In the video ... Sloan is waiting right next to the parking lot when Suge pulls up.

Suge has claimed he only ran over Sloan and Terry Carter in self-defense ... believing they were getting ready to shoot him.

Aaron Schock Resigns From Congress Partly Because of Katy Perry

Published | Updated

Rep. Aaron Schock -- who gained national notoriety back in 2009 after TMZ posted a shirtless photo of him -- has resigned his seat in Congress after questions about his spending habits surfaced.

Schock was accused of using campaign money on private jets, massages and taking interns to a Katy Perry concert.

In his statement, Schock made no admission of wrongdoing ... only saying the "great distraction" has made it difficult for him to serve the people of the 18th District of Illinois. The resignation is particularly shocking (no pun intended) because Schock was considered a rising star in the Republican party.

His swimsuit modeling career can finally begin in earnest.

Pam Anderson Rick Salomon Made $40 Mil Last Year ... Playing Poker with ONE GUY!!!

Published | Updated

Pam Anderson says Rick Salomon may not be screwing her anymore, but he's definitely screwing the tax man ... because he's dodging a tax bill on $40 million in poker winnings in 2014 alone.

TMZ broke the story ... Rick has filed for an annulment from Pam in Nevada. She wants a California divorce, not an annulment, because it could entitle her to half his poker earnings.

Pam claims in new legal docs -- obtained by TMZ -- Rick won $40 MIL from ONE GUY -- Andy Beal, a billionaire real estate mogul who plays high stakes poker. In one weekend, Beal gambled at the Bellagio in Vegas and was up $13 mil at one point and down more than $16 mil later.

Pam says in the docs, Rick is lying in his annulment papers by saying he's a resident of Nevada, where there is no state income tax. Pam says they have lived in Malibu, California, where the state tax rate is a whopping 13%.

Pam says Rick actually used some of his earnings last year to buy a $4 million Nevada pad by paying cash, and then had his assistant use Rick's credit card in Nevada to make small purchases, making it look like Rick was living there.

Rick's people say Pam is on a mission to ruin Rick because she's not happy about the proposed divorce settlement.

ASU Linebacker Alleged Victim Says He Didn't Hit Me ... It Was Just a Hickey

Published | Updated

The girlfriend of an Arizona State football player is adamant her man has never laid a hand on her -- instead she tells TMZ Sports her alleged "injury" was really a hickey.

As we've reported ... Davon Durant was arrested for felony aggravated assault after a witness reportedly saw the star recruit hit his girlfriend last month.

But the girlfriend tells us she and Durant got a little loud during an argument ... prompting someone to call police. She insists she did not suffer any injuries during the dispute.

Here's the problem ... the girlfriend told police on scene Durant hit her in the face and grabbed her around the neck. She now claims she was just being "dramatic" at the time, and was too embarrassed to tell police the mark on her neck was a hickey -- and the eye "injury" was just an irritation from crying. She says she's told police several times since the arrest that she wasn't hit.

Prosecutors can still take Durant to trial without the gf's cooperation ... but it would make it more difficult to convict him.

ASU has suspended Durant indefinitely.

Robert Durst Court Order Protecting Relatives from Him

Published | Updated

Robert Durst was enough of a threat to his relatives that a judge issued a protective order, despite the fact Durst is being held without bail on first degree murder.

A New Orleans judge issued the order, which protects Robert's brother Douglas, who runs the multi-billion-dollar Durst Corp. It also protects Susanne Durst, Douglas' wife, and Helena their daughter.

And the order protects Helena's husband Mark and their son Frank.

The order also protects Douglas' son, Alexander, and his wife Eva and their son Sven.

According to the order, obtained by TMZ, Durst is prohibited from annoying or alarming his relatives. He cannot communicate with them in any fashion. He must also stay away from their offices and residences.

Robert was arrested in 2013 for lurking around Douglas' house.

The documentary "The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst" profiled the feud between Robert and Douglas. Robert was enraged that their dad chose Douglas to run the family company.

According to the docs, obtained by TMZ, the LAPD got the arrest warrant for Robert on March 11th -- last Wednesday. That warrant called for $1 million bail, but apparently that has changed because the new docs say when he was arrested he was held without bail because he's considered armed and dangerous. He was carrying a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver when he was captured.

The docs say Robert is also considered a flight risk.
