Boxer Jermain Taylor My Shrink Says I'm Fine ... Judge Wants More Testing

Published | Updated

Jermain Taylor's psychiatrist says the boxer has been a complete "gentleman" at his lockdown mental facility ever since he was arrested on gun charges ... and is begging the judge to let him out.

As we previously reported, an Arkansas judge ordered Taylor to undergo a complete mental and physical evaluation after several disturbing incidents -- including an altercation at a parade where Taylor allegedly pulled a gun on a family and another incident where he shot his cousin.

But today in court, Taylor's shrink told the judge that while Taylor has some signs of impulse control problems (possibly due to boxing) ... he ultimately recommended Taylor be released ... with a few caveats.

The shrink says Taylor would need to be monitored, needs random drug and booze testing, needs therapy and would be forbidden from possessing a gun.

Taylor's shrink also said Jermain "seems to really want to change his life" and noted that when he's sober and away from guns, he's "not a danger."

However, the judge isn't sold quite yet -- and said he doesn't want to release Taylor until more tests are completed.

Boxer Jermain Taylor Bizarre Bathtub Video ... After Shooting Arrest

Published | Updated

Boxing superstar Jermain Taylor -- the WBC middleweight champ -- released a disturbing new video in which he essentially apologizes for firing a gun during a MLK parade in Arkansas.

"I know y'all disappointed in me ... I'm sorry if I let anybody down or hurt anybody."

But here's where things get even more puzzling -- the 36-year-old says he had a beef with parade organizers that day because none of the kids at the event had any candy.

"Y'all need to get it together," Taylor said to event organizers ... "Had my little girl out there. Nobody had no candy."

Taylor then suggests he could be in jail for next year's parade -- and says he won't try to duck serving time by claiming he has drug issues.

"If I gotta go to jail, I'm gonna sit my ass in there ... but I'm not gonna say I have no problems with no drugs to get out of jail ... I worked too hard for my life to put that in it. So you can kiss my ass."

Taylor has less than 24 hours to turn himself back in to authorities. No word on when he plans to surrender.
