Efron appeared in great spirits as he hit up the Griffith Park Haunted Hayride with Julianne Hough and former "Hairspray" co-star Brittany Snow ... as well as director Adam Shankman.

TMZ broke the story -- the 25-year old actor completed 2 rounds of treatment earlier this year to combat the cocaine problem that took over his life.

Julianne's brother Derek Hough snapped a pic with the group sharing hugs and smiles -- and posted it online afterward saying, "Great time last night with great friends."

For a guy coming off of rehab, Zac Efron couldn't have picked a worse home to buy ... because his new crib is well-known as one of the biggest Hollywood party pads in L.A. ... and we have the pics to prove it.

A source tells TMZ ... just last year, Sean Kingston was living large bachelor style in the house ... and says it was a pool party house where "some of the most ungodly events" went down.

We're told ... Sean rented the place for 45k a month ... and threw some wild ass parties for his friends, including Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Rihanna and Soulja Boy.

According to our source ... Sean's ragers were so off the hook ... guests had to sign a non-disclosure agreement -- and then be photographed holding the piece of paper -- before they could ever get past the door. So you know there was some crazy s**t.

11:20 PM PT -- Lamar bailed on the flight to NYC. We're told he became uneasy about making the trip after we posted this story about his plans -- and he has not rescheduled.

Lamar Odom is flying to New York later today ... to meet with honchos from several basketball teams, and he's carrying what he claims is proof that he's clean and sober ... sources connected with Lamar tell TMZ.

Our sources say on Tuesday ... Lamar underwent blood and urine tests for drugs, and he tested NEGATIVE for drugs.

This is consistent with what other sources have told us about his time with the Kardashians on Tuesday. We're told he was lucid and showed no signs of being under the influence of drugs.

We're told Lamar has had private conversations with execs from several teams who have expressed interest in him, provided he could show he was clean ... and the purpose of the trip is to meet with them and possibly strike a deal.

Our sources also say Lamar wanted to go to New York to visit his family, and get away from "the negative energy."

And finally, our sources tell us Lamar says he's had his fun with drugs and is ready to re-start his basketball career. Fact is ... he's done that before.

San Francisco 49ers superstar Aldon Smith has reportedly been hit with 3 felony charges for possession of ASSAULT WEAPONS ... stemming from a shooting at his home back in 2012.

Smith -- who's currently in rehab following a DUI last month -- was stabbed at a party at the NFL star's 8,000 square foot home in San Jose, CA. Two other people were shot that night.

The identity of the shooter is unknown -- but officials do say there were several guns found in Smith's home, including 3 kinds of assault rifles (below) which are illegal in California ... and an unregistered .45 handgun.

According to cops, Smith fired the handgun into the air several times during the party, but did not hit anyone. They say the unknown shooter later used the same handgun.

Authorities also say they found several magazines of ammunition in Smith's bedroom.

Just two weeks ago, the two alleged shooting victims filed lawsuits against Aldon -- but never accused the football player of firing the shots that struck them that night.

Zac Efron has found a place where he can get away from it all ... right smack in the middle of L.A.

The troubled star -- who recently completed his second stint in rehab for cocaine -- just snagged a $3.9 million hillside home in the Los Feliz area of L.A.

The seller pitched the house as super zen. It's also extremely private and, well ... it's nice.

Zac's got 5 bedrooms and endless city/ocean views.

His neighbors seem to like their privacy, too ... Kristen Stewart, "Glee" star Naya Rivera, Rose McGowan and a bunch of other celebs have bought homes in the neighborhood.

Khloe Kardashian had a nuclear confrontation with Lamar Odom that could be the last straw in their marriage ... TMZ has learned.

As TMZ first reported ... Lamar went to their Tarzana house Tuesday ... to pick up some clothes and speak with Khloe. Now we know what was said ... and what she found.

Sources connected with the couple tell TMZ ... Lamar told her he had been sober for 3 days and planned to stay sober on his own ... without going to rehab. We're told Khloe recoiled in anger, telling Lamar he was in denial and needed rehab. She also said she wanted nothing to do with him until he entered an inpatient program.

Our sources say at some point during the meeting, Khloe found a pipe with a stash that looked like crack in a baggie. It's not clear if she found it on his person or the clothes he was picking up from the house.

Sources close to Lamar tell us Khloe went ballistic, calling Lamar a "liar" and telling him, "I'm done with you." Khloe then threw him out of the house.

Our sources say Lamar seemed "out of it" during the meeting and even accused Khloe of stealing his stash.

As for the marriage ... we're told Khloe has "not done anything legal yet," but, as she put it, finding the stash "was the last straw."

Lamar Odom says he's been sober for 5 days ... and he believes he can maintain sobriety WITHOUT going to rehab.

Sources connected to the troubled BBaller tell TMZ ... Lamar believes in what he calls "self-healing" and says he has the willpower to kick his drug habit on his own.

Lamar says he's done it successfully before and is convinced he can do it again.

Toward that end, he is telling people he is removing certain "friends" from his life ... so he doesn't relapse.

Lamar says he's open to getting professional help, but only in private and not in a rehab facility. He has not yet committed to getting such help.

Lamar is very mindful of the fact that training camp has just started. Although he wants to save his marriage to Khloe Kardashian, our sources say his motivation for sobriety seems to be more focused on his basketball career. Lamar believes once he's achieved a level of sobriety, he can re-join a team.

TMZ broke the story ... Lamar had a devastating crack problem in addition to an addiction to other drugs, including cocaine. He was in rehab for 3 weeks a little more than a year ago before bailing.

Lindsay Lohan was in the wrong place, at the wrong time, with the wrong dude last night in NYC -- at least based on her history with her hotel owner pal.

In a photo that spells nothing but trouble for Lindsay ... she was snapped outside The Dream Hotel at 1 AM with Vikram Chatwal ... who owns the hotel, but more importantly has an even darker past with drugs than Lindsay.

As TMZ reported, Linds thinks she and Chatwal -- himself a rehab grad -- can help each other stay clean … which is kinda like a diabetic having Paula Deen for a best friend.

Not to mention ... LiLo was arrested last year at The Dream for a hit and run, after grazing a pedestrian outside the hotel, and then fleeing the scene.

So, let's review -- out late night, hanging with a recovering addict, at a spot where she's already been arrested once.

Lamar Odom is drugged out of his head ... but he's telling people he will sober up and play basketball again this coming season ... yes, he's that delusional.

Sources who have been spending time with Lamar tell us his drug problem is out of control -- that one of his drug dealers alone has sold him thousands of dollars in coke. We're told Lamar is now freebasing with pure cocaine.

As crazy as it sounds ... Lamar has done it before. We know he was using while on the Lakers and on the Mavericks. In addition, he was off the rails using drugs just months before joining the Clippers but cleaned up enough to get through the season.

We're told Lamar is full-on paranoid now ... he believes people are trying to set him up to get caught. As he told one friend, "Everyone wants to see me fail, but I'm not gonna let that happen."

Lamar Odom's ex college roommate, and former NBA player Cuttino Mobley believes L.O. can shake off his drug problems in time to make it back to the NBA ... THIS SEASON!

Mobley, who's 38 and attempting his own comeback, was cruising through the Grove Monday when he said, "Hopefully Lamar will be back before mid (season)."

Lamar is 5 years younger than Mobley, but as TMZ first reported ... he's also battling crack addiction -- so pretty shocking to hear Mobley say Lamar will comeback before he does.

Thing is ... Cuttino looks to be in really good shape.

Amanda Bynes has been moved from the psych ward of a major hospital to a ritzy rehab place in Malibu for her own good ... so say her parents.

Rick and Lynn Bynes are responding to our story that Amanda was moved 3 weeks ago from the UCLA Medical Center to The Canyon rehab facility in Malibu.

Amanda's parents -- through their lawyer Tamar Arminak -- say the move was on the advice of doctors at UCLA, and that she is making "great strides towards recovery."

Sources close to Amanda tell TMZ, "Amanda was stuck with people in much worse condition than her. She was scared, afraid and did not leave her immediate room area." The lawyer adds, at the rehab place, "She is getting specialized psych care, one on one treatment, not drug rehab."

Our source says Amanda is able to walk around the grounds, see the ocean and ride the horses.

Amanda Bynes left the UCLA Medical Center, where she was getting treatment for a serious mental illness, and is now ensconced at a fancy Malibu rehab center that caters to celebs ... TMZ has learned.

It's shocking ... the facility does not have the psychiatric facilities available at UCLA, and we're told she's still in a desperate state. It's all the more shocking because she's under a special hold -- called an LPS -- which doctors got because they were so concerned about her well-being.

Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ ... Amanda checked in to The Canyon approximately 3 weeks ago. She interacts with people very little and rarely leaves the area where she's living.

Amanda is not wearing her wig and is "paranoid" the paparazzi will find her.

The Canyon got in big trouble in 2011 ... after an employee allegedly sold confidential information about Brooke Mueller during her stay. We're told Brooke settled her lawsuit against the facility for somewhere around $250k.

Zac Efron may have found refuge from his modern-day troubles ... by looking to the ancient past -- namely ... the Incan ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru.

Zac just posted this picture on his Whosay account -- with a big grin on his face as he posed on a mountaintop more than 7,970 feet above sea level.

TMZ broke the story ... Efron was in rehab twice this year for a serious cocaine problem.

Zac said he was in Peru with his dad ... and thanked his fans for all their support.

Lindsay Lohan will get to keep her huge paycheck from Oprah Winfrey ... but only after an intense showdown between O and LiLo ... TMZ has learned.

We've confirmed ... Lindsay was a disaster at the beginning of the project -- at times just being a no-show -- which doesn't work in Oprah's world. We're told Oprah went to Dina's house on Long Island for a showdown with Lindsay. She told Lindsay either clean up her act or the project is over and Lindsay would not get her $2 million paycheck.

Our sources say Lindsay had a bunch of excuses ... she was spending time trying to find an apartment in NYC, she had other projects she was trying to finish, there were "miscommunications" between her people and the folks at OWN, yada yada.

Oprah made the ultimatum clear and Lindsay got the message.

We're told Lindsay is now cooperating and things have been running okay for nearly a month, but Oprah is still watching Lindsay like a hawk.

Lindsay Lohan has every right to blame her addiction issues on her mother AND her father -- so says Michael Lohan who's now fully admitting their nasty breakup put Lindsay on a path to failure.

We spoke to Michael just hours after Dina Lohan pled not guilty to DWI -- telling us, "I think because of [my and Dina's] divorce and what happened, Lindsay was put in a horrible position."

Khloe Kardashian went clubbing last night ... and a security guard went clubbing too ... clubbing photogs.

Sources inside Tru nightclub in Hollywood tell TMZ ... Khloe was hanging out with The Game and a few of his friends. We're told she did not drink alcohol the entire evening.

Khloe left the club at around 2:30 AM, and as she beat a hasty retreat a security guard went a little nutzo on our camera guy ... pushing him to the ground.

Even though Khloe hit the clubs -- sans Lamar -- sources connected to K.K. tell us she has not given up on her marriage. She's trying to figure out how to convince Lamar to seek help ... something he's been unwilling to do. BTW ... she was wearing her wedding ring.
