Amanda Bynes Parents Not Considering Another Conservatorship ... In Wake Of Psych Hold

Amanda Bynes' parents aren't viewing her recent psychotic episode as a reason to put her into another conservatorship ... but that doesn't mean her episode hasn't set off alarm bells.

A source with direct knowledge tells TMZ ... Amanda's parents, Lynn and Rick, are deeply concerned about their daughter's well-being and health after her latest ordeal -- but another conservatorship isn't on the table, at least for now.

Amanda had been living independently in her own house and taking cosmetology classes and until fairly recently seemed to be doing fine, so Sunday's episode seemed like an anomaly.

We're told her parents are also taking comfort in the fact Amanda was self-aware enough to recognize she was in trouble ... flagging down a car for help and calling 911 herself.

TMZ broke the story, Amanda was placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold after being spotted walking naked near Downtown L.A. Sunday morning.

She was taken to a nearby police station and a mental health team felt a psych hold was necessary. Typically, 5150 holds last only 72 hours, but they can be extended.

As you know, Amanda was in a conservatorship for almost a decade, starting back in 2013 while struggling with her mental health. The plug was pulled on her conservatorship a year ago tomorrow.

Amanda Bynes Mom Takes Her Off Meds Despite Evidence of Mental Illness

Amanda Bynes' mother just came out publicly and said her daughter does NOT suffer from Schizophrenia or bipolar disorder -- she says the only problem Amanda had was weed -- but multiple sources tell TMZ ... that's just NOT true.

Amanda's mom says all her her daughter's problems emanated from marijuana, and she is now weed-free, so Amanda is off ALL medications. Lynn Bynes says, "She has no mental illness whatsoever."

We made the rounds again Wednesday ... and everyone we spoke with stands firm -- Amanda does suffer from Schizophrenia and Bipolarity. Beyond our sources, there's documented proof of mental illness.

-- Amanda was placed on an LPS Hold last year after a judge heard evidence in the psychiatric hospital where she was being held. According to California law, someone can be placed on an LPS Hold only when the person remains "gravely disabled as the result of a mental disorder or impairment by chronic alcoholism." As we reported, doctors presented evidence of grave mental illness.

-- Amanda's mom won a temporary conservatorship after a court-appointed investigator determined Amanda was severely mentally ill. The judge granted the conservatorship order not too long after Amanda soaked her dog in gasoline and almost lit it on fire.

-- Amanda's lawyers in both California and New York won delays in her criminal cases based on mental illness.

-- Sources directly connected to Amanda and her treatment tell TMZ Amanda was given a complex Rx cocktail in a Ventura County psych hospital specifically for Schizophrenia.

-- Amanda spent weeks at the UCLA psych ward and at times was so incoherent she had to be restrained. Amanda left after she became freaked out by other patients.

-- Sources tell us, during Amanda's stay at a Ventura County psych hospital, she would tell doctors about the "Bad Amanda" and mimicked an exorcism and began biting herself.

-- Tamar Arminak, the celebrity lawyer who reps Amanda's mom, tells TMZ, "Amanda is now on zero medication." Her mother believes all the talk about Schizophrenia is false and that's why she took her off the meds. The mom says she's had no psychotic episodes in the last few months.

Sources connected to Amanda tell us they are alarmed and fearful.

Amanda Bynes Mortified At Drake 'Vagina' Comment

Amanda Bynes has turned it around in a big way ... and one of the markers is that she is now remorseful about things she did and said when she was at her worst -- particularly her comment about Drake, "I want Drake to murder my vagina."

Sources directly connected with Amanda tell TMZ ... she is in the territory of being her old self again. They say the fact that the Drake comment "horrifies her" shows she again has a sense of the difference between right and wrong.

But there's more. We're told Amanda has stopped smoking weed, she's in the process of removing a number of inappropriate tattoos, and she's kind to people with whom she interacts.

Most impressive ... Amanda is now at FIDM -- the Fashion Institute of Design Merchandising in Orange County -- and she's become so self-confident she makes presentations to her entire class and freely interacts with her classmates.

TMZ broke the story ... Amanda was diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolarity. It's apparent the meds and the therapy are working.

Amanda Bynes Cops Plea in DUI Case

Amanda Bynes has just scored a victory of sorts in her DUI case, pleading no contest to a lesser offense ... TMZ has learned.

Amanda was arrested in April 2012 in West Hollywood and charged with DUI.

Amanda's lawyer Rich Hutton was in court this morning and accepted a plea of "wet reckless" -- a drinking-related offense that does not have the serious consequences of DUI.

Under the terms of the deal, Amanda will be placed on 3 years probation, must attend a 3-month alcohol ed course, and pay various fines.

It appears her license was suspended because she refused to submit to an alcohol test at the time of her arrest.

Her lawyer tells us she's doing well now.

Amanda Bynes Judge Praises Mom for Job Well Done

Amanda Bynes has made progress by leaps and bounds, and today the judge in her conservatorship case credited her mother for the shocking progress.

TMZ broke the story ... Lynn Bynes became Amanda's conservator during her darkest hours -- after she started a fire in a neighbor's driveway and soaked her dog in gasoline. TMZ first reported doctors later diagnosed her with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Today Lynn and Rick Bynes appeared in Oxnard court ... to sort out Lynn's duties as conservator.

The judge made it short and sweet, saying, "Good job, Mrs. Bynes. Well done."

Amanda is now living at her parent's home and is attending fashion design classes in the O.C.

Amanda Bynes Clipping Her Angel Wings

Amanda Bynes' road to recovery includes one big cosmetic change ... removing an angelic tattoo from her body.

Amanda's been working out a ton lately -- hitting the gym and doing some power walking -- and she's also slowly erasing a pair of angel wings from her right forearm.

The tattoo -- which was prominent during her blue wig days -- is faded in recent shots of Amanda walking around her parents' neighborhood in Thousand Oaks, CA ... where she's been living since getting out of a rehab facility last month.

Change ... it does a body good.

Amanda Bynes VICTORIOUS In Bong-Throwing Case

7:15 AM -- Amanda was just granted the ACD -- as we told you she would be -- and her next progress report was set for June. So, 6 months of good behavior ... and she's good to go.

Amanda Bynes has effectively BEAT THE RAP in her criminal case ... where she stands accused of throwing a bong out of her NYC apartment window.

Cops had claimed they came to Amanda's unit after getting complaints from neighbors she was smoking weed. Cops say they smelled weed in her unit and before they could do anything she threw a bong out the window.

Amanda -- who said she threw a flower vase and not a bong -- was charged with marijuana possession, evidence tampering and reckless endangerment.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... the case will be resolved tomorrow in court. Here's what will happen. The case will be put on ice. Amanda will NOT enter a plea. If she keeps her nose clean and continues her therapy for the next 6 months, the charges will be formally DISMISSED and the case will be sealed. The fancy legal term -- Adjournment in Contemplation of Dismissal.

One reason the case is essentially being dropped ... cops didn't retrieve the glass for days, which means there's no proof what they eventually found was thrown by Amanda. Our TMZ producer spotted the broken glass first, which looked like a bong, but the evidence was contaminated by weather, time and cigarette butts.

We contacted Amanda's lawyer, Gerald Shargel, but he had no comment.

Amanda Bynes Gasoline-Soaked Pooch In a Better Place

Good news dog lovers -- Amanda Bynes' canine (the one she accidentally soaked in gasoline back in July while setting a neighbor's driveway on fire) has been placed in a new home ... far, far away from Amanda and flammables.

Sources close to the Bynes family tell us, Sherbert was taken away from Amanda after she was placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold in the summer.

While she was in rehab, we're told Amanda's parents cared for Sherbert ... but have since given him away to a family friend because Sherbert didn't get along with the Bynes family's other dogs.

Sad for Amanda ... as we reported, the actress desperately loved the dog and begged to see Sherbert while she was getting inpatient treatment for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Safe to say, lil Sherb survived some dark days -- here's that video of Amanda rushing to a nearby liquor store to clean him after the near-charring.

Amanda Bynes At Disneyland Acting Goofy

Amanda Bynes is a tough nut to crack... focusing on her makeup smack in the middle of the happiest place on Earth.

Amanda is still at Disneyland ... where apparently she chose mascara over the Matterhorn.

Amanda's parents were along for the ride, keeping a watchful eye on their daughter.

Disneyland's not far from the Orange County campus of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, where she'll be attending fashion design classes

Look closely ... Amanda's not strapped in -- she's clearly had enough of that.

Amanda Bynes Life After Rehab Enrolls In Fashion School

Amanda Bynes is wasting no time trying to rebuild her life after rehab ... and plans to hit the books at a private design school because she wants to become a fashion designer, TMZ has learned.

Sources close to Amanda tell us she's enrolled as a student at FIDM -- the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising -- registering under an alias for 2 classes at the Orange County campus.

As we reported ... Amanda was sprung from rehab in Malibu last week and released to her parents' care. She was being treated for bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

We're told ... the people close to Amanda believe school will help ease her back into society by giving her some sort of structure for her life. She's taking a light class load -- by design -- and will be escorted to and from her classes.

We're also told ... the treatment that began in rehab will continue during the school year ... Amanda will juggle her classes with 4-times-a-week therapy sessions.

Amanda Bynes Fit to Walk the Dog After Leaving Rehab

Amanda Bynes is coherent and accepting compliments from the paparazzi again ... and sounds better than she has in more than a year.

Bynes took the family dogs for a walk with her parents today ... after she was sprung from a Malibu rehab facility earlier this week. She'd been getting treatment there for mental illness since September.

We asked Amanda all sorts of questions ... but there was only one topic she really wanted to discuss. Check out the video.

Worth noting: the dog Bynes almost torched in a driveway fire in July ... was not on the walk.

Amanda Bynes Home for the Holidays After Release from Treatment Center

Amanda Bynes has been sprung from the Malibu rehab facility where she'd been getting inpatient treatment for her mental illness.

As TMZ first reported ... Amanda's meds and counseling had stabilized her condition -- bipolar disorder and schizophrenia -- to the point where doctors felt she could be released to her mother's supervision.

According to the attorney for Amanda's mom -- the actress is now at her mother's house, and will still be receiving outpatient treatment.

Bynes had been at The Canyon treatment center since September ... following her stay at UCLA psych ward.

Amanda still has to deal with a DUI charge. As we told you, a judge has ruled her competent to stand trial ... though a plea bargain seems likely.

Amanda Bynes COMPETENT To Stand Trial

Amanda Bynes is mentally capable of understanding the nature of the criminal charges she faces, and as a result the road is now clear for her to stand trial for DUI.

Amanda's case was in Mental Health Court this AM, and the judge read the court-ordered medical evaluation of the actress, and determined she is now competent to face the DUI charges.

Amanda's lawyer, Rich Hutton, did not object to the findings so the criminal case -- which was put on hold -- will now go forward.

Sources say the ruling will have NO impact on her conservatorship. Fact is ... even though Amanda is capable of understanding the nature of legal proceedings, she is nowhere close to being able to care for herself.

As for the DUI case ... no way will it go before a jury. It has plea bargain written all over it.

As we first reported ... Amanda has been diagnosed with Schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Drake Bell I Got Two Words For Amanda Bynes

Nickelodeon star Drake Bell has a two-word message for his former co-star Amanda Bynes ... and he tells TMZ, he wants to deliver it personally just as soon as she's allowed to have visitors.

Bell -- who co-starred with Bynes on "The Amanda Show" from 1999 to 2001 -- was at LAX when he stopped to talk about Amanda ... and our story that she would be released from rehab -- and back with her family -- by Christmas.

Drake says he reached out to his good friend a while ago ... and "as soon as she's allowed to make contact again I'd like to make sure she's alright."

As for the two-word message, it's some pretty good advice. Watch the clip.

Amanda Bynes I'll Be Home For Christmas

Amanda Bynes will be home in her own bed by Christmas ... TMZ has learned.

Sources connected with her treatment tell TMZ ... Amanda's meds and psychological counseling have sufficiently stabilized her so her doctors will let her leave the Malibu rehab facility where she's been held since September.

As TMZ first reported ... Amanda was released from the UCLA psych ward and went to the rehab facility because the psych ward was freaking her out and preventing her from improving.

Doctors will release Amanda to her mom, who will then take her to the family house and provide supervision. The move will take place sometime next month.

We're told -- aside from the fact that the meds and therapy appear to be working -- doctors are concerned that Amanda is going stir crazy. She's not allowed to go outside because paparazzi are hanging out at the facility and the staff is worried if Amanda is around other patients and pictures are taken, it will compromise the others.

Calls to Amanda's parents' attorney, Tamar Arminak, were not returned.

Amanda Bynes Parents Say Rehab Facility Is What She Needs

Amanda Bynes has been moved from the psych ward of a major hospital to a ritzy rehab place in Malibu for her own good ... so say her parents.

Rick and Lynn Bynes are responding to our story that Amanda was moved 3 weeks ago from the UCLA Medical Center to The Canyon rehab facility in Malibu.

Amanda's parents -- through their lawyer Tamar Arminak -- say the move was on the advice of doctors at UCLA, and that she is making "great strides towards recovery."

Sources close to Amanda tell TMZ, "Amanda was stuck with people in much worse condition than her. She was scared, afraid and did not leave her immediate room area." The lawyer adds, at the rehab place, "She is getting specialized psych care, one on one treatment, not drug rehab."

Our source says Amanda is able to walk around the grounds, see the ocean and ride the horses.

And, sources say, UCLA costs $50k more a month to house Amanda. That means she's paying $55k a month at The Canyon.
