Country music legend Merle Haggard has died after battling double pneumonia ... according to his manager.

Haggard was diagnosed with pneumonia last year and spent 11 days at the Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage early this year. He died at home near Redding, CA on Wednesday morning.

He'd been battling back from the illness and even scheduled a string of concert dates with his pal Willie Nelson. They released an album, "Django and Jimmie" last year.

But last week Haggard canceled his shows for the month of April due to his continuing efforts to recover. His manager tells us Merle was weary from battling pneumonia for so long ... and had even predicted to friends he would die on his birthday.

He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1994.

Merle turned 79 today.

11:00 AM PT -- Willie Nelson tells TMZ, "He was my brother, my friend. I will miss him."

Surprising turn in the Abby Wambach drunk driving case.

TMZ Sports obtained court documents filed from the cops interview with the soccer star following her DUII arrest.

In the docs, she admits to using cocaine and marijuana several years ago. 35-year-old Wambach said she "first used marijuana by age 24." The cops note the last time she smoked weed was age 25.

As for the coke usage, cops say "the defendant tried cocaine at age 25."

Blac Chyna is one giant step closer to getting jumped in to the krew -- Rob Kardashian popped the question Monday night, and they're engaged to be married.

Blac Chyna was sporting a massive diamond ring as she and Rob went out last night to celebrate. Sources close to the couple tell us Rob asked last night and as expected, she said yes.

Chyna's mom is still in town ... and all 3 hit up Ace of Diamonds strip club to toast their engagement -- which comes after a little over 2 months of dating.

Coachella fans opting out of fancy hotels, condos or mansions ... can park their asses and their horses at a huge 3 day camping party.

D'Angelo Russell has apologized to Nick Young in a face-to-face meeting earlier Wednesday -- and Nick accepted ... but things are still icy between the two.

As previously reported, Lakers honchos organized a sit-down between the players to hash things out over a video that Russell secretly shot of Young apparently admitting to cheating on his fiancee Iggy Azalea.

Sources close to Young tell us he accepted Russell's apology and the beef is squashed for now ... but as our source put it, "Everything is cool but it ain't gonna be the same."

Nick Carter's battery charge for brawling with a bouncer in the Florida Keys could be wiped from his record if he keeps his nose clean.

Prosecutors say they'll drop the battery charge if Nick completes 25 hours of community service in the next 6 months.

Phife Dawg is one key step closer to getting a permanent tribute in his hometown -- renaming the street he rapped about all the time ... A Tribe Called Quest Boulevard.

After Phife died last week, a petition was started to encourage city council members to co-name Linden Blvd (represent, represent) in Queens. It's already approaching its goal of 5,000 signatures.

Sources involved in the campaign tell us they crossed another hurdle -- getting Phife's family to sign off on the plan. We're told NYC requires such approval before putting a celeb name on a street sign. Also, Councilman Daneek Miller says he's fully behind the plan because "A Tribe Called Quest is fundamentally important to the history of Queens."

There are also proposals on the table to co-name streets in honor of The Notorious B.I.G., Big Pun and Wu-Tang Clan.

2:50 PM PT -- We've confirmed Luke Wash is in custody. He was booked Monday afternoon and held on a $1,300 bond.

Katt Williams and the 17-year-old kid he fought are both wanted by cops now ... TMZ has learned.

Police in Gainesville, GA tell us Katt and the kid, Luke Wash, have been charged with disorderly conduct. We're told a Hall County judge issued arrest warrants after the charges were filed.

Cops say the fight, which included foul language being used in front of minors -- is a violation of his conditional bond from his arrest for allegedly assaulting one of his bodyguards. Police have contacted Katt's lawyer to discuss him turning himself in, but if he doesn't, we're told cops are ready to go find him.

We're told Wash was charged because in Georgia, 17-year-old offenders are considered adults.

Gov. Chris Christie's autographed workout shorts -- big enough for two, really -- are HUGE ... on eBay.

The seller of the 5XL gym shorts is hawking them as the real deal, straight outta the closet of Jersey's big man. They include a Presidential Physical Fitness Award badge, and Christie's rather ironic signature and note ... "Stay in shape."

A spring break bro with a cannon for an arm is facing up to 6 months in jail after nailing a cop car with his football -- a dumbass move that went viral.

Gulf Shores PD in Alabama has issued an arrest warrant for Kameron Lane Heady after officers, like thousands of other people, saw the clip of Heady winding up and targeting one of their units patrolling the beach last week.

Cops down in Gulf Shores responded to the video with their own, saying -- "Great arm, Bad decision" and informed Heady they were looking to put him in cuffs. Sounds funny, but cops tell us they're serious as a judge in a wet t-shirt contest.

Cops tell us Kam hasn't turned himself in yet. Max punishment if he's convicted of misdemeanor harassment would be a $500 fine and 6 months in jail. It's unlikely he'd get locked up, but that $500 would buy a lot o' kegs.

Katt Williams attacked a kid during an Atlanta soccer match because the kid had gotten all up in his business, and aggressively ... so allege sources connected with the comedian, and new video seems to at least partially support his claim.

Katt punched the boy in Gainesville, outside ATL, and it was caught on video. The boy then pounced on Katt, putting him in a rear naked choke hold.

The first video that surfaced shows the punch but almost nothing before. The new video shows the kid and his buddies following Katt, who sits passively against a wall. The kid seems to challenge Katt, accusing him of talking crap.

It seems Katt is trying to diffuse the situation, but the kid orders him to stand. When Katt gets up, the kid approaches him and gets inches from his face. That's when Katt strikes.

As we reported, cops are investigating the incident.

What's more ... the video that surfaced Wednesday (top) shows Katt punching the kid and then the young man puts Katt in a rear naked choke hold. But check out the video below. Sources connected to Katt tell TMZ they believe it clearly shows the video released Wednesday was altered and the kid actually put Katt in a headlock BEFORE the punch.

When you watch the video above, look closely at Katt's hair, which gets messed up when the kid has him on the ground. Katt's hair is also messed up when he punches the kid.

Sarah Palin ... the next Judge Judy. That's exactly the plan hatched by the guy who put Judy on TV.

Palin will be shooting a pilot for a TV courtroom show featuring her as the lady in black. It's being produced by Larry Lyttle, who had an idea 20 years ago that the family court judge from NYC might be good TV.

Lyttle tells TMZ he'll shoot a pilot with Palin in the next few months and then try to sell the show in syndication for launch in Sept., 2017.

Small issue ... Palin's not a judge. Lyttle says not necessary, because she'll preside over "the courtroom of common sense," adding, "She's appointed judges and is well equipped as a former governor to preside over cases."
