We've learned Tila Tequila is currently meeting with investigators for the San Diego District Attorney to discuss the alleged altercation she had with San Diego Charger Shawne Merriman.

The case was handed over to the D.A. yesterday by the San Diego Sheriff's Department. Tila claims Shawne "choked and physically restrained" her as she was attempting to leave his home early Sunday morning.

Shawne is telling a different story: Tila was drunk and he was simply trying to "encourage her to stay until safe transportation could be provided."

The D.A. will ultimately decide if charges will be filed against Shawne.

Two trucks showed up moments ago to Jackson's rented L.A. residence -- one for Michael's cars and the other for his property. Workers are currently unloading empty boxes and carting them inside the home.

Earlier this month, a bunch of property was removed from Michael's Las Vegas home -- including three Rolls Royce cars.

Lisa also told our photog that President Bill Clinton -- the man who played a huge role in getting Laura back to the U.S. -- has been checking up on the family since her return.

We found the humble hero yesterday at the D.C. airport -- where, for now, he was just a passenger.

Michael Jackson's family is upset over the charities that are supposed to get 20% of Michael's estate -- that's what family sources tell TMZ.

Here's the deal -- the family's concern is premature. No charities have been picked yet and no money will be donated for somewhere between 1 and 2 years.

Under the terms of the trust, Michael gave charities 20% of the value of his estate. Problem is -- no one knows how much the estate is worth and until it's determined, no money will go to any charity.

The creditor's claims are still being filed and we're told it will take between 1 and 2 years for the state and the probate judge to settle the creditor's claims and determine the net value of the estate.

As for who decides which charities get the 20% -- we've learned the trust provides for a committee of three people who will make that decision -- Katherine Jackson and co-executors John Branca and John McClain.

The trust doesn't specify how decisions are made if the committee is divided. It could be majority rule, it could be that each committee member gets to pick a certain number of charities or they could set other ground rules.

Go figure -- Michael Jackson didn't account for the possibility that people in his world might disagree.

The guy with the bad highlights is Justin Spencer -- and he used to be the treasurer for the company that managed Recycled Percussion ... until his business partner told New Hampshire police that Spencer embezzled nearly $200,000 from the company account.

Cops opened an investigation into Spencer's activities -- and we're told they have built a serious case against the guy. In fact, detectives have just handed the case over to the Hillsborough County Attorney who will decide whether or not to press charges.

We're told the C.A. could have an indictment ready in as few as three weeks -- two weeks after the show's winner is to be announced.

We just got our hands on trademark applications filed by the Sycamore Valley Ranch Company -- a company started by Colony Capital and Michael Jackson -- who is attempting to lock down the following names to use with the property: Neverland Ranch, Neverland Valley, Neverland Valley Ranch, and Neverland.

Sycamore also filed paperwork requesting to use the four Neverland names on several products and services including:

1) "Museum services - namely opening a museum in Michael Jackson's former home and providing tours ... providing theme park services."

2) Printed material (post cards, greeting cards, bags, non-fiction books about Michael Jackson, etc.)

3) Games and playthings (toys, dolls, roller skates, toy rockets, board games, playing cards, etc.)

4) For "providing facilities for business meetings and conferences ... retail and online retail store services ... mail order catalog services in the field of novelty, gift, and souvenir items"

5) Clothing, footwear, headgear

Richmond City Councilman Doug Conner -- who works with the city's hard labor program -- tells us Brown will begin his 8-hour work day at 8:00 AM when a Department of Corrections bus picks him up, along with 30-40 other offenders.

Conner says Brown will wear a reflective orange vest and pick up trash and litter along highways and roads. He'll also have to trim brush along medians, remove gang graffiti from the VCU campus, and wash the inside and outside of law enforcement vehicles.

Conner says Brown will be kept "under the watchful eye of a supervisor" to make sure he doesn't cut any corners.

Having "The Man Show's" Adam Carolla for a landlord would be pretty cool ... unless you don't pay up ... then he'll crack down on you with some serious legal firepower.

Turns out Carolla and his wife Lynette own a building in Burbank that they rent to the Lounge 22 furniture company. In docs filed recently in L.A. County Superior Court, Adam claims L22 hasn't paid rent since May -- and on July 2nd, he gave them 3 days to pay up or get out.

The deadline came and went -- and Carolla has since fired off a lawsuit, demanding $44,913.42 in unpaid rent from May, June and July -- plus $499.03 for every day they stayed in the place past August 1st.

It's unclear when -- or if -- L22 left the building, but we're told some furniture is still on the property.

Hugh Hefner claims his soon-to-be ex-wife Kimberley Conrad cheated on him before their marriage fell apart -- but that's not why he's finally demanding a divorce.

TMZ just spoke with the Playboy kingpin, who told us he made the decision to officially break it off with his estranged wife, and mother of his two children, strictly because she filed a $5 million lawsuit against him last month relating to the sale of a house they owned together.

As for why he had stayed married during the 11-years they have been estranged, Hef says, "At the time of the separation, I was happy to get a divorce ... I only remained married for the sake of the children at her request."

Hef told us that he was "faithful" during the time they were together, but says Kim had cheated on him "early in the relationship." Hef says he knows who the other person is, but would not reveal the identity.

Hef did reveal his frustrations with the lawsuit -- claiming he has paid Kimberley every cent that he agreed to pay her in their prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, adding, "I have been generous to a fault."

She came to watch the knights do battle -- but it was Posh Spice who delivered the death blow ... stiffing her waiter during a recent trip to Medieval Times.

Sources employed by the M.T. "kingdom" tell TMZ that Posh brought her children -- and a couple of bodyguards -- to enjoy a feast and a medieval show at the Buena Park, CA location this past Saturday night.

But before the jousting and the sword fighting came to a close, Posh and her crew left the show early -- and multiple sources tell us she didn't leave a tip for the server who took care of the group.

And now for the "Bad Medieval-Themed Closing Line of the Day" -- Looks like getting a tip from Posh is harder than pulling a sword from a stone!

Attempts to reach Posh's rep were unsuccessful.

We've just obtained Hugh Hefner's income and expense declarations that were filed with his divorce papers -- proving the Playboy head honcho is just as loaded as you thought.

Here's how much Hugh rakes in per month:

After eleven years of estrangement from his wife, Hugh Hefner finally made the move to end his marriage to former Playmate Kimberley Conrad.

On Friday, Hefner filed documents in L.A. County Superior Court seeking to dissolve their marriage, citing "irreconcilable differences." The docs say they were married on July 1, 1989 and have been separated since January 12, 1998.

Hefner had been supporting Kimberly and their two sons, who have been living in the house next door to the Playboy mansion.

But things got rocky this year when Hef sold that house, and then Conrad sued Hef -- accusing him of screwing her out of more than five million bucks.

UPDATE: In the docs, Hugh is asking the judge to set spousal support at $20,000 per month -- justifying such a small amount by saying he's already given Kimberly close to $12 million since their 1998 separation.

We're told the video -- shot at Guys and Dolls in West Hollywood earlier this month -- shows Jayde throwing a drink at Francis and then Joe grabbing her hair. You see Jayde fall to the ground but Francis never lays another hand on her. The video shows that she was trampled in the ensuing crush.

Jayde filed a police report alleging Francis repeatedly hit and kicked her, but the tape doesn't support the claim.

The case is still under investigation.

A source extremely close to the situation tells us the decision was made not to enroll Michael Jr., Paris, and Prince at the Buckley School -- where Tito's three kids attended -- so they could continue being homeschooled by the same tutors they had under Michael's supervision.

The only difference -- their home is now the Jackson's place in Encino, not Michael's place in Holmby Hills.

We're told the Jackson family is pulling out all the stops to recreate a "normal" school environment -- they're even building a school yard, complete with a volleyball court, so the kids can enjoy P.E. time. The kids will also go on field trips and have a designated "lunch hour" in between classes.

Various members of Michael Jackson's family tell TMZ they are already talking about lawyers who might rep them in a wrongful death lawsuit against Dr. Conrad Murray and others ... but Jackson's death may prove to be such an economic bonanza that it could torpedo a lawsuit.

In California, Jackson's immediate family could sue for the economic loss they have suffered by Jackson's death -- e.g., the financial support Jackson could have provided had he lived. Here's the problem -- Jackson's death may actually be an economic gain.

It's already becoming clear Michael Jackson is more profitable in death than he was in the last years of his life. Therefore, even if lawyers proved Dr. Murray and others were responsible for Jackson's death ... they could still come up with goose eggs.

The family could also recover for non-economic damages such as loss of companionship and love. The problem -- in California, if the lawsuit is based on malpractice against a medical provider, these damages would be limited to $250,000 total.

The final possibility -- if the family could prove the defendants acted with malice, they could get punitive damages. "Malice" includes proof of "despicable conduct." The family could also win punitive damages if the defendant is convicted of felony homicide. But in California, punitive damages have to bear some relationship to damages for economic or non-economic losses. Typically punitives are limited to nine times those damages.

It ain't as easy as it seems.
