Horror auteur Eli Roth's latest project will strike a chord with fans of murder, because it's a trailer for a movie about a killer who uses pianos to make people B-flat.

Okay, "The Piano Killer" isn't a real movie (yet), but the trailer will play in theaters exclusively before screenings of "Jimmy and Stiggs," the first movie from Roth's media company The Horror Section, that opens in theaters Friday, August 15.

"J&S" is an insane, over-the-top alien invasion splatter flick, which Roth describes as "'Evil Dead' if it starred Cheech and Chong." And it's the only place you can see "The Piano Killer" trailer theatrically (along with another mystery fake trailer), which by our account, contains the most realistic depiction of piano murder ever committed to film.

Members of the Proud Boys are all in on Sydney Sweeney's controversial American Eagle ad, at least according to a vandalized billboard near the City of Angels ... and it's not because of her jeans -- it's about her genes.

A billboard along an L.A.-area freeway was spotted this week with a banner that reads ... "Proud Boys love Sydney Sweeney. She has the best blue genes."

It's unclear when the banner was put up in Corona, about 40 miles east of L.A., or who exactly is behind it ...  but one local resident tells KABC-TV it makes them feel "angry, scared, disappointed."

Heidi Fleiss is over the moon that Aubrey Plaza  is playing her in an upcoming biopic ... but she's refusing to watch it because Heidi says she's not trying to go back to the past.

Fleiss also tells TMZ ... she's not involved in the yet-to-be-named biopic, which just cast Aubrey as Heidi, who became famous back in the 1990's under the nickname the "Hollywood Madam."

But she was eventually arrested and convicted in state court for pandering and handed a 3-year sentence that was overturned on appeal. She was also convicted of money laundering and tax evasion in federal court and served a few years in prison before getting released in 1999.

Heidi tells us she's seen Aubrey's work in HBO's "White Lotus" franchise and feels she's a great choice to play her on the big screen and will do a spectacular job ... but she won't see what Aubrey does here, because "the past is dead" to her and she's not trying to relive her life.

Sad news from Brad Pitt’s family ... TMZ has learned his mom, Jane Etta Pitt, has died at the age of 84.

Sources familiar with the situation tell us Jane passed in the last day or two, and a member of the family shared a touching IG post confirming the news.

Francis Ford Coppola is doing just fine after a hospital visit in Italy -- despite some alarming local reports ... TMZ has learned.

A source close to the 86-year-old director tells us he recently underwent a routine scheduled procedure with his physician of 30 years and is currently "resting nicely." The source says Coppola "appreciates everyone's concern."

While some outlets in Rome reported Coppola was hospitalized due to a mild cardiac arrhythmia before the procedure, we're told that's not true, and no emergency occurred.
