For the first time since 2008, Peyton Manning is rockin' the goatee ... in what appears to be an attempt to find a new identity after that humiliating Super Bowl loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

Evil Peyton and his facial hair surfaced at what appears to be a charity event over the weekend ... where he gave a speech, rocked a tux and even posed for pics with fans.

Somewhere, Evil Spock is laughing maniacally.

Lupita says she was so ashamed she couldn't even look at herself in the mirror ... adding, "Every day I experienced the same disappointment of being just as dark as I had been the day before."

The actress says supermodel Alek Wek -- one of the first dark skinned supermodels -- helped boost her confidence ... because people like Oprah praised her as a beautiful woman.

Nyong'o says she ultimately learned that beauty comes in all shades ... and hopes to be an inspiration to other young girls with similar concerns.

Most impressive ... Amanda is now at FIDM -- the Fashion Institute of Design Merchandising in Orange County -- and she's become so self-confident she makes presentations to her entire class and freely interacts with her classmates.

TMZ broke the story ... Amanda was diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolarity. It's apparent the meds and the therapy are working.
