'That's So Raven' Star Sentenced to 180 Days in Jail

Published | Updated

It just keeps getting worse ... "That's So Raven" star Orlando Brown is behind bars, 2 weeks into a 180-day sentence ... in one of the craziest, most drawn-out DUI cases we've ever seen.

Law enforcement sources tell us, Brown was remanded into custody on August 23 following a hearing ... where he failed to show proof he completed court-ordered alcohol ed classes for his 2011 DUI arrest.

The only good news for Brown is L.A. County jails are way overcrowded -- so, he's expected to be released after only 27 days ... on September 19.

Brown's been crazy lucky until now -- in the last year 4 bench warrants were issued for his arrest, after he repeatedly failed to follow various court orders.

Mel Gibson Goes Off On Malibu Cops 'Why Are You Harassing Me?'

Published | Updated

Mel Gibson had an angry encounter with Malibu cops last Saturday -- the good news ... he was sober and left the Jews out of it.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... just after 1:00 AM Mel and a female passenger rolled up to a DUI checkpoint on Pacific Coast Highway -- the same road where Mel was famously busted for DUI in 2006 -- where he ranted against the Jews.

We're told deputies asked Mel if he had been drinking. He said no and cops had no reason to suspect otherwise.

But there was a problem ... Cops asked Mel to produce his license, and Mel didn't have it on him. At that point deputies told Mel to go to a secondary screening spot, and that's when Gibson got angry. We're told Mel yelled, "Why are you harassing me?" Deputies asked why Mel was screaming and he responded, "I have had problems with you Lost Hills [Malibu] deputies in the past."

Things cooled down when deputies let Mel off with a warning.

Mel drove off and did not blame deputies or Jews for the whole Syrian thing.

Lamar Odom The REASON Robert Shapiro Took the Case

Published | Updated

Kris Jenner quarterbacked the move to get attorney Robert Shapiro involved in representing Lamar Odom in his DUI case for one big reason ... and it's not about the criminal case.

Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ ... Kris went to Shapiro because of his personal experience with drug addiction.

Shapiro's 24-year-old son Brent died of a drug overdose in 2005 -- and Shapiro has been involved with drug addiction foundations and charities ever since.

We're told Kris wants Shapiro to not just represent him in the DUI case -- which frankly is a case that will almost certainly end in probation and license suspension -- but she wants him to become a voice, urging Lamar to seek help.

As we previously reported, Khloe and the rest of the Kardashian clan have been unsuccessful in persuading Lamar to go to rehab.

We're told ... although Kris has asked Shapiro to represent Lamar -- and Shapiro has agreed -- Robert told her he would not take the case unless Lamar is open to treatment.

Lamar Odom Responds to Khloe's Ultimatum with Radio Silence

Published | Updated

Khloe Kardashian's ultimatum to Lamar Odom -- get into rehab or get out of our home -- hasn't exactly forced him to take action ... in fact, Lamar's gone completely off the grid with his wife ... TMZ has learned.

We broke the story ... Khloe dropped the tough love on Lamar over the weekend. In the wake of his DUI arrest on Friday, sources tell us she made it clear to Lamar ... he needed to get help, or else the marriage is over.

But we're told since they spoke for 4 hours on Saturday ... Khloe's heard absolutely nothing from Lamar.

As one source put it ... right now Khloe is "totally in the dark" about Lamar's comings and goings -- and the prospects of saving their marriage are getting dimmer everyday.

But Khloe is refusing to let the drama with Lamar affect her social life ... and this weekend, she hit up a Labor Day BBQ fiesta at Katy Perry's house.

During the party, Khloe posed for sexy photos with her friends ... and later tweeted one of the shots to her Twitter page.

Just a few days before the party, Khloe tweeted (and later deleted) the words, "Smile and no one will notice” ... and after this weekend, it seems she's following her own advice.

Lamar Odom Repped By Robert Shapiro If He's Good Enough for OJ

Published | Updated

Lamar Odom needs some legal firepower after his DUI arrest, and its OJ Simpson's lawyer Robert Shapiro to the rescue ... TMZ has learned.

Lamar has hired Shapiro in what promises to be a sticky situation. TMZ broke the story ... Lamar was popped early Friday AM on the 101 Freeway ... and cops believe he was under the influence of both drugs and booze.

Shapiro is known for plea bargaining. These cases are pretty standard -- he'll probably plead no contest to one count of DUI and get probation. He'll also be required to attend an alcohol ed class. And, since he refused to submit to a blood-alcohol test, he'll automatically get his driver's license yanked for 1 year. No getting around that.

This has Kris Jenner's paw prints all over it. She's used Shapiro for other legal messes in the past -- most recently Robert Kardashian Jr.'s criminal battery and theft case.

Ironically, Kris' ex-hubby, the late Robert Kardashian, repped OJ Simpson along with Shapiro. Kris was best friends with Nicole Brown Simpson and felt OJ was guilty as sin.

As for the Rx meds, Gable said he was taking pills for a minor leg injury he suffered while mountain biking, but believes a brain aneurysm might have been responsible for the crash.

Gable's due back in court September 30.

ATL Hawks Head Coach FIGHTING DUI ARREST I Was Not Driving Drunk

Published | Updated

Atlanta Hawks head coach Michael Budenholzer says he was NOT driving drunk when he was arrested for DUI last night ... and says he has some semi-convincing proof to back his claim.

Budenholzer was arrested in Atlanta around 10:30 PM Wednesday night ... after a Georgia State Trooper noticed the NBA coach's car had a broken taillight.

During the stop, cops say they noticed a strong odor of alcohol on Budenholzer's breath -- and asked him to submit to various field sobriety tests, including a breathalyzer.

According to the incident report, obtained by TMZ, MB agreed to everything BUT the breathalyzer ... and then proceeded to perform poorly during the other field sobriety tests.

During the arrest, Budenholzer reportedly admitted to having consumed 1 glass of wine earlier in the evening. He was arrested and hauled to a nearby jail.

Budenholzer was eventually released from custody around 3:45 AM this morning (5 HOURS after the initial arrest) ... and his lawyer says the coach went directly to a local hospital where a blood test revealed his B.A.C. was less than .01.

Budenholzer has since pled not guilty to DUI -- and released a statement saying, "I apologize to the fans and to the Hawks organization for any negative attention this incident has brought upon my family and the organization while the legal process evolves and I contest these misdemeanor charges."

Too Short Cops AMAZING Plea Deal In Cut & Run DUI Arrest

Published | Updated

Too Short won't be locked away after trying to run from cops during his crazy DUI arrest ... after cutting the SWEETEST deal of all time, TMZ has learned.

Tuesday, Short's lawyer Keith Davidson did the impossible ... Short pled no contest to driving with a BAC of .08 or higher and in exchange, all the other charges were DISMISSED. Yeah.

It's not uncommon for first time offenders to get off easy -- but Short's deal is really incredible because he has multiple prior DUI arrests.

As for punishment ... Short was sentenced to 3 years probation, fines and alcohol education classes.

Looks like someone's lawyer is getting a gift basket.

Reese Witherspoon Inspired by Walter White's 'Breaking Bad' Arrest

Published | Updated

This is just beyond ... but turns out Reese Witherspoon's rant during her Atlanta arrest could have been an audition for "Breaking Bad" -- because it's a damn good imitation of a scene where Walter White gets busted.

Way back in Season 3 ... Bryan Cranston's meth-cooking chem teacher character got pulled over for a shattered windshield, and went off on the officer saying ... "This is America and I have rights," and ... "Pepper spray the man who's expressing his opinion under the 1st Amendment!!"

Sound familiar?

Watch the 'BB' scene and Reese's infamous verbal eruption where, for starters, she said, "I'm allowed to stand on American ground and ask any question I want to ask."

Coincidence? Or maybe Reese saw the episode shortly before her run-in with Johnny Law?

At least she avoided the pepper spray ... which would have been "beyond."
