MJ Estate Pounded by New Creditor's Claim

Published | Updated

Get your currency converters out -- the law firm that filed the latest creditor's claim against Michael Jackson's estate wants to get paid in pounds.

The firm of Arnold & Porter -- which has an office in London -- just filed papers in L.A. County Superior Court, claiming MJ owes them for legal services rendered between February and June of '09.

The total bill: £103,179.10.

And this is interesting: In the docs, it shows Michael initially hired the firm in connection with a "dispute with Abdulla Bin Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa" -- the son of the King of Bahrain.

The sheikh sued Michael in 2008 for $7 million -- after Michael allegedly accepted a bunch of money and perks from the sheikh in exchange for two new albums.

The case was settled shortly after.

Hiroko Mima (Japan) and Anya Ayoung-Chee (T&T) both competed in the 2008 Miss Universe pageant.

TMZ spoke with a rep from the Miss Universe pageant who tells us, "This was apparently eight months after the pageant and neither were the reigning titleholder.

The photographer is NOT a Miss Universe staffer so we have nothing to say or any involvement ... thank goodness."

Lawyer for MJ's Mom: I Knocked Oxman Out!

Published | Updated

Katherine Jackson's lawyer, Adam Streisand, has really come out swinging today. He's scoffing at Joe Jackson's lawyer, Brian Oxman, who filed legal papers last week attempting to get back into court to challenge Michael Jackson's will. Streisand says, "It was a first round knockout and there's no getting up from it."

Oxman claimed the will was a forgery and the executors were unfit. The judge in the estate case begged to differ so Oxman is going to the Court of Appeal. To that, Streisand says, "Oxman is going to need more than smelling salts and a new panel of judges to resuscitate his client's surprise attack."

Here's his best line: "As far as I've been told, '2012' is just a fantasy."

MJ's Mom 'Seriously Considering' Suing Murray

Published | Updated

Katherine Jackson's attorney tells TMZ Michael Jackson's mom is "seriously considering" filing a wrongful death lawsuit against Dr. Conrad Murray.

Adam Streisand, who scored a victory for Katherine last week in the estate case, tells TMZ the case would be filed on behalf of Katherine and Michael's three children. But Streisand adds, the biggest factor against filing suit is that Murray is asset-challenged -- i.e., he can't even pay his child support.

Streisand said he's actually rooting for Dr. Murray to file a claim for wages against AEG, adding "At least then we'd have some money to take from him."

As we first reported, Murray may sue AEG for $300,000 for the two months he "treated" MJ.

Cage's Manager: Nic Was Broke As a Joke

Published | Updated

The guy Nic Cage blamed for his financial ruin now claims by the time Nic hired him in 2001, "Coppola [Cage] had already squandered tens of millions of dollars... and owed millions of dollars in... income taxes, with no funds available to pay the tax debt."

In his countersuit obtained by TMZ, Samuel Levin, CPA, says when he was hired he warned Nic he needed to earn $30 mil a year just to maintain his lavish lifestyle.

As for the alleged lavish lifestyle ... Levin cites the year 2007, in which Cage bought 3 homes totaling more than $33 mil, 22 cars (including 9 Rolls Royces), 12 pieces of expensive jewelry and 47 pieces of art.

And Levin says, Cage spent most of his free time "shopping for high-ticket purchases," including 15 homes, a Gulfstream jet, and a flotilla of yachts.

And there's this: Cage "also spent huge sums taking his sizable entourage on costly vacations and threw enormous, Gatsby-scale parties at his residences."

The countersuit goes on: "The pinnacle of [Cage's] spending spree came with his Quixotic acquisitions of Midford Castle in England and Schloss Neidstein Castle in Bavaria." Levin claims he warned Cage the castles were "decrepit" and needed a king's ransom just to make them habitable.

Levin claims Cage owes him $128,872.98 in unpaid business management services.

UPDATE
Nic's lawyer, Marty Singer, tells TMZ, "Levin's cross complaint is absurd. He was paid more than $1.3 million this last year-and-a-half. It's ironic he's making his claim for fees when he caused Nic to be in these financial problems while he was paid millions of dollars over the past several years to act as Nic's financial advisor."

ABC on Heenes: We Pay for Sushi, Not Interviews

Published | Updated

Far be it from ABC to pay for interviews -- something they say they don't do -- but they will pay to stuff the stomachs of those they interview and then drive them comfortably to their hotel ... which is exactly what happened with the Heene family last night.

We got the entire Balloon Family out for a fabulous sushi dinner at Ocean Grill in NYC.

Sources told TMZ that ABC paid the tab. We contacted ABC and they acknowledged they broke tuna rolls with the Balloons and did foot the bill.

Now here's the best part -- a source at GMA says, "We did not pay for a limo to drive them around the city. We did have a car service (SUV) take the family as they required a bigger car. "

Equality Group -- Keep LJ Out of Cincinnati

Published | Updated

UPDATE: LJ has reportedly signed with the Bengals.

Homophobic slur-hurling running back Larry Johnson is expected to sign with the Cincinnati Bengals any minute now -- but a local gay rights group is already considering the move a "slap in the face."

TMZ spoke with Lesley Jones, executive director of Equality Cincinnati, who tells us "We do not think that would be a favorable decision on the part of the Bengals.

We would see this as a slap in the face to all the work we've done for equality and LBGT (lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender) rights in Cincinnati."

[The Bengals] must take action to prove that they support equality and LBGT rights in the city."

Johnson was recently cut by the Kansas City Chiefs after making a flurry of controversial statements -- including dropping the f-bomb twice in a 24 hour period.

Dr. Murray Gunning for AEG

Published | Updated

Dr. Conrad Murray is setting the stage for a lawsuit against AEG for the medical services he rendered to Michael Jackson ... according to Dr. Murray's rep.

AEG owes Dr. Murray $300,000, according to Miranda Sevcik, publicist for Dr. Murray's lawyer, Ed Chernoff. Sevcik claims AEG has been "dragging its feet," even though the Dr. has requested payment for 2 months of services.

Sevcik says Dr. Murray has not been paid a penny for his services, in spite of the fact that the doctor claims to have signed a binding deal with AEG before giving up his medical practice.

Sevcik says Dr. Murray will not file a creditor's claim against Jackson's estate. She says, "Dr. Murray needs the money and he's entitled to the money based on the contract he signed with AEG."

AEG could not immediately be reached for comment.

Tila Tequila Sues Ex: The Brute Bruised Me

Published | Updated

Tila Tequila is letting her bruises do the talking in a lawsuit she just filed against her ex, NFL star Shawne Merriman.

Tila claims Shawne grabbed her, shook her like a rag doll, threw her down and choked her during an argument last September. Tila says the San Diego Chargers linebacker had a bad temper combined with a drug problem, and that he humiliated her because of her bi-sexuality.

In the lawsuit, Tila's lawyer, Cyrus Nownejad, included a photo gallery (above) showing the disparity in height and weight (Tila -- 4'11", 93 lbs. Shawne -- 6'4", 280 lbs). The photos also show bruising on her arms, which Tila says is courtesy of Shawne.

The San Diego County D.A. declined to file criminal charges.

Tila's suit -- for assault, battery, false imprisonment and emotional distress -- seeks unspecified damages.

Our sources say a first round of auditions for the Prejean part were held this past weekend, but no one "nailed" it yet.
