John Singleton has suffered a stroke ... family members tell TMZ.

The legendary director and screenwriter is in the hospital ... we've learned he checked himself in earlier this week after experiencing weakness in his leg. A family member tells TMZ, John had flown back from Costa Rica and the plane flight may have triggered the medical emergency.

We're told doctors are performing tests and also doing rehab. The stroke was described to us as "mild."

As you know, Singleton is iconic in the entertainment industry ... hitting like thunder with his directorial debut ... "Boyz n the Hood" back in 1991. He was nominated for 2 Oscars -- Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. He was the youngest filmmaker to get nominations in the 2 categories.

Tyrese Feuding w/ The Rock Publicly Was Wrong

OPEN TO DIALOGUE
Van Lathan's The Red Pill

Tyrese admits airing his dirty laundry with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was NOT cool ... straight-up calling it unprofessional.

Tyrese took himself to task when he talked to Van Lathan on 'The Red Pill' podcast. You'll recall he accused his 'Fast & Furious' costar of being selfish when Johnson's 'F&F' spin-off movie shoot schedule pushed back the release date of 'Furious 9.'

He copped to going about it all wrong, but stopped shy of apologizing. In fact, Tyrese says he wasn't the only one pissed off at Dwayne. Still, he's laying the groundwork to squash the beef ... though, it hasn't happened yet.

Be sure to check out the entire episode when it drops on SoundCloud later Tuesday.

Vin Diesel Not Just a Pretty Face ... I'm a Doctor, Now!!!

Vin Diesel's definitely cool ... but not too cool to not go back to school.

The 'Fast & Furious' star returned to Hunter College of the City University of New York almost 30 years after he left the school to pursue his Hollywood dream ... proudly holding his honorary Ph.D on Wednesday as he gave the school's commencement speech in front of nearly 2,000 grads at Radio City Music Hall.

Vin's undoubtedly one of the college's most notable alumni -- but the nod's gotta go to Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan. Vin credited his time at Hunter for helping him launch his career. The former English major wrote a screenplay and acted in that film, that ultimately caught the eye of Steven Spielberg. Steven then went on to write a part specifically for Vin in a little movie called "Saving Private Ryan."

Congrats, Vin!! Check that ... Dr. Diesel!!

Tyrese Gibson to The Rock 'Fast & Furious' Spin-off 'F****d Up' You're Selfish, Self-Promotional

HE'S BEING SELFISH
TMZ.com

Tyrese says he's not mad at The Rock for doing a spin-off of 'Fast & Furious,' but then Tyrese goes after him with a vengeance, essentially saying he's a selfish actor who screwed his loyal fan base just to get ahead.

We got the 'Fast' actor Tuesday, chillin' in a limo near Catch, and asked about what we thought was his social media feud with Dwayne Johnson. At first Tyrese says there's no beef, but watch him ratchet up the rhetoric as he continues to grouse that the release date of 'F9' was pushed back to 2020 to accommodate The Rock's work schedule for the spin-off.

Sounds like beef to us.

Michelle Rodriguez To 'Fast & Furious' Franchise Evolve or Die!!!

TIME FOR CHANGE
TMZ.com

Michelle Rodriguez doubled down and said 'Fast & Furious' better show women some love in the next couple flicks or she's saying deuces.

We got Michelle out Monday in Bev Hills and asked her about what she said in June ... about the franchise needing to put some shine on women in the next flick ... "or I just might have to say goodbye to a loved franchise."

FYI, the 9th and 10th installments are slated for 2019 and 2021.

Check it out ... Michelle ain't backing down when it comes to female empowerment -- and the sad reality about the franchise in general.

Tyrese Gibson There'll Be More 'Fast & Furious' It's Like Flipping Houses!

THERE'S MORE TO COME ...
TMZ.com

Don't worry about The Rock and Vin Diesel's old beef standing in the way of future 'Fast & Furious' flicks 'cause the money train can't be stopped ... according to their co-star, Tyrese.

We got Tyrese leaving Bootsy Bellows Tuesday night and asked him what the huge box office numbers for "The Fate of the Furious" means for the future. His answer is interesting -- he compares the filmmaking process to flipping houses.

FYI, it debuted with $532 million worldwide on a $250 million budget.

Bottom line? Tyrese is really good at math!

Ludacris Celebrates 'Furious' With Chicken and Beer!!!

DINNER OF CHAMPIONS
TMZ.com

Ludacris is so PUMPED his new flick's become a global phenomenon he's either chowing down on chicken and chugging beer or jamming to one of his old jams -- or both.

The rapper was heading into an event Tuesday night at Times Square in NYC when we asked him how he's celebrating "The Fate of the Furious" reportedly having the biggest global opening in movie history with a whopping $532 million in its first weekend.

Luda's either got his mind on his 2003 hit album, "Chicken-n-Beer," or he REALLY loves that Southern hospitality.

The Rock He's Doing Next 'Fast and the Furious' Flick Beef with Vin Diesel Squashed

The Rock and Vin Diesel have buried the hatchet and both will star in the next installment of the insanely popular 'Fast and the Furious' franchise ... sources involved in the production tell TMZ.

Our sources say Vin and Dwayne have met privately several times since animosity between them exploded on the set of "The Fate of the Furious." We're told they are "good" and both are "1000% in" for the next flick.

The sources are opening up about the feud ... one explaining it was all over "real estate." In movie language, real estate is all about how much an actor shines -- who gets the best action scenes, who gets the hottest girl, who shows off their body more, and who gets the most face time.

It became a big issue for Dwayne and Vin, but ultimately, Dwayne acknowledged it was Vin's movie -- he's listed #1 on the call sheet.

The one thing the feud was not about ... money. They both make a fortune off the franchise.

But all systems go for the next installment.

Paul Walker Surfer Bros Beg City Council for 12 Foot Statue ... 'A Beacon of Headlights'

3/27/17
WALKER RULES

Paul Walker could be standing tall in San Clemente thanks to some surfer bros who begged the City Council for a statue of their hero "in the midst of gnarly times."

Self-proclaimed freelance journalist Chad Kroeger made the pitch at last Tuesday's meeting, and his rationale for the 12 foot Paul statue is comedy gold ... and also, kinda touching. Chad's buddy gets up there too for some fond words on "unifying figure" Paul.

Dude, we can't even describe it ... you just have to watch this.

I CONCUR

Tyrese Sorry, Rock ... I'm Team Vin Diesel

Vin Diesel just scored an incredibly powerful ally in his war with The Rock ... Tyrese.

Vin's "Fast 8" co-star just made it clear ... it's Vin who is the driving force behind the franchise, and people like Rock need to respect that.

Tyrese posted a pic with the caption, "I've always said that if ONLY people knew how hard you work to protect this franchise and characters, minds would be blown," adding, "I'm so f****** proud to call you my family and my brother."

And then the hammer ... "if no one else will jump out there and stand up I will."

Vin also got vague support from fellow 'Furious' co-star Ludacris, who just posted a pic of the cast ... sans Rock.

War still raging.

Vin Diesel vs. The Rock Crew Says One's a Nice Guy ... One's Not

The crew has chosen sides in the "Fast 8" feud between The Rock and Vin Diesel ... and Rock wins, hands down.

Production sources tell TMZ, The Rock has been upset with Vin's work ethic for a long time, and he's not alone. Members of the crew tell us Vin was often 30 minutes to an hour late to shoot scenes ... and it wasn't because he was late to the set -- he was simply in his trailer and wouldn't come out.

We're told Vin didn't like Monday 7 AM calls so production was forced to make the start time 10 AM to accommodate him.

And the crew felt Vin's arrogance was out of control, especially because he had a producer title. We're told he wouldn't listen to anyone and would goad people, including The Rock, by criticizing their acting.

The crew has a vastly different view of The Rock. They say he's the ultimate professional who is always on time and always nails his scenes. They also say he's easy to work with.

As we reported, Vin and Rock have been clashing for a long time and it came to a head Monday when Rock exploded on social media, calling out a male co-star (it's Vin) for being unprofessional.

And as we told you, Vin confronted Rock Tuesday in Rock's trailer, but their issues remain unresolved.

Vin Diesel 'I Will Tell You Everything'

IT'S GONNA BE WORTH THE WAIT
Instagram

Vin Diesel has secrets he's now going to share ... about what appears to be an excruciating experience riddled with conflict ... but so far, nothing.

Vin posted this video, in which he obliquely refers to his war with "Fast 8" co-star The Rock.

Vin captioned the video, "So much has gone in this year. I can't believe I wrapped two back to back pictures I both starred in and produced. Now I get to return to my family, my life ... To me."

Interesting he says "starred and produced." The producing part, we're told, is part of the conflict he had with The Rock.

'2 Fast 2 Furious' Actor Cole Hauser Busted For DUI

Actor Cole Hauser was arrested for DUI after cops say he almost crashed on an L.A. freeway.

According to the arrest report, Hauser -- best known for his role as Carter Verone in "2 Fast 2 Furious" -- drifted in and out of lanes Sunday on the 101. Cops took notice and pulled him over.

Police say Hauser seemed drunk, and after a field sobriety test he was cuffed and taken to the station, where he was booked for DUI.

He's out on $15k bail.

We could not reach Hauser or his rep for comment.

Michelle Rodriguez Scott Eastwood Is No Paul Walker

HE'S IRREPLACEABLE!
TMZ.com

Michelle Rodriguez could not be clearer ... no one can fill Paul Walker's shoes in the 8th 'Fast & Furious' flick ... not even Scott Eastwood.

Eastwood's onboard for the new flick, along with Charlize Theron ... but Michelle bristled at LAX Wednesday .... Scott's a cool dude, but Paul was simply irreplaceable.

Walker's death is still a touchy subject for Michelle, who recently confessed she was sad she didn't die before her beloved co-star.

'Fast & Furious 8' Horse Killed By Flying 'Iceberg'

A horse went down like the Titanic near the "Fast 8" set in Iceland after gale force winds sent a fake iceberg flying into a paddock where the animal was grazing.

Local police tell us the horse, named Jupiter, had to be euthanized. Strong winds sent a portion of a plastic iceberg -- a set piece for the movie -- flying and it struck the horse, breaking its leg. Another horse was also injured but is expected to recover.

Neither was involved in the production -- just a case of wrong time and place.

We're told production called the horse owner and broke the news but said insurance would cover the cost of the horse and fence repair.

R.I.P. Jupiter.

'Furious 7' Stunt Crew VICTORY!!! We're Finally Getting Credit

The overlooked stunt crew from Furious 7 can finally hold their heads high and revel in the success of their billion dollar movie ... because the studio will be adding their names to the ending credits.

As we previously reported ... 25 people who performed the death-defying stunts for the movie -- including the driving scenes -- were mysteriously nixed from the ending credits. The crew was irate, and even stars like Michelle Rodriguez, spoke out in support.

Now sources close to the production tell us Universal has decided to include the entire 2nd Unit team to the DVD and future releases of the movie.

We're told the studio claimed there was a "clerical mix up" ... but didn't give specifics on who dropped the ball.
