Just like Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler, Jeff Goldblum, Urkel and Pat Sajak ... some moron published a FALSE report thinking it would be funny.

But Smith's rep tells us, "It's absolutely not true."

So, there ya go ...

Rumors of Minaj's participation on the show have been spreading like wildfire ... with Simon Cowell himself fanning the flames ... but sources connected to Minaj tell us she won't be a judge on the show ... adding, "There's nothing going on with [X Factor]."

Earlier this week, Cowell told reporters that many of the names rumored to be in talks with the show were most likely leaked from his own company in an effort to stir up interest in the show.

The song, the Poison classic "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," has had a strange history to say the least. Plans to release it got scrapped last year when rumors spread that Michaels had an affair with Miley's mom, Tish Cyrus. Everyone involved denied the rumors and BIlly Ray and Tish pulled the plug on their divorce yesterday.

Michaels now reportedly says the track is a go, even hinting at the reason it was delayed, saying, "The record label was supposed have to this huge humongous release of 'Every Rose.' It was going to be Miley's next-step song, but because of that, they stepped back."

Alexis Knapp says her baby -- due in June -- is definitely Ryan's. For his part, Ryan says he'll take a DNA test when the baby is born and if it's his ... he'll step up and support the kid.

But sources connected to Alexis claim while she's been incubating, she hasn't received a dime from Ryan and she's hurting financially because she's unable to work.

But sources connected to Ryan tell us Alexis is lying -- that Ryan has been paying Alexis' expenses, despite the fact that he has no obligation to do so until a judge establishes paternity.

We're also told Ryan is furious, because Alexis agreed that if Ryan paid to support her during her pregnancy, she wouldn't go blabbing to the media -- which Ryan's people believe she has done.

We're told Ryan will not submit to the DNA test until the baby is born. There are prenatal paternity tests, but there's a slight risk of miscarriage and Ryan does not want to take the chance.

Our sources say Ryan will step up and provide support for Alexis Knapp's unborn baby, provided it is indeed his.

Although there are reports Ryan and Alexis were boyfriend/girlfriend, we're told that was never the case. They had dated for a while but it was never serious.

It all went down at Spring Training in Tampa ... Cam and A-Rod's first born, 6-year-old Natasha Alexander, checked each other's makeup and had some girl talk -- we're guessing stuff like hair, clothes, dad's $275 million contract.

Sheen dropped the news last night, posting to his Twitter page: "Update: Sober Valley Lodge; Rachel has left the building..., We're sad.... Over it... Applications now being accepted! #winner"

But today, Charlie tells us, "She came back, my bad all good. Love her with the three parts of my heart."

Sources close to Charlie's "goddess" Natalie Kenly -- one third of Charlie's Bahamian threesome -- tell TMZ that the 25-year-old used to date Shifty on-and-off for about a year ... but the ex-couple finally called it quits a couple months ago.

The woman -- who called herself Paige -- went on the air Tuesday claiming she and Chad had a secret affair and she is now 3 months pregnant with his kid.

But sources close to Chad -- who's engaged to "Basketball Wives" star Evelyn Lozada -- tell us Ochocinco is adamant the woman is merely giving birth to a BS rumor ... because the two have never, ever met in person.

We're told Ocho exchanged some Twitter messages with the woman more than a year ago ... but insists nothing ever came from it.

Sources at Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada tell TMZ, reports of Simpson being beaten to a "bloody pulp" during a prison yard fight were so ridiculous, guards pulled O.J. from his cell ... just to tell him about the crazy rumors.

Simpson found the mass confusion incredibly entertaining -- in fact, we're told he "laughed his ass off" at reports of the racially-motivated prison attack.

Page Bogart -- an investment banker -- tells TMZ, "Gabriel's entire motivation has always been money," adding, "I tried to warn Halle early on but I guess she didn't want to believe it."

Page, who dated Gabriel five years ago, says he raged at her -- accusing her of leaking unflattering information about him to the media -- and she gave us one of his voicemails to make her point.

Page says she saw Halle at a Miami Beach golf club and told her all about Gabriel, to no avail.

Some people with a morbid sense of humor flooded the Internet this weekend with false reports that the "Jersey Shore" star kicked the bucket. But according to a rep -- who spoke to Snooki this morning -- she's alive and probably drinking somewhere right now.

Snook's FB page is now swamped with condolence messages ... mixed in with a few notes from people who can spot a fake story when they see one.
