Demi Lovato Didn't 'Suffer' OD Interventionist Says She Caused It
Demi Lovato didn't "suffer an overdose" -- she caused it -- so says a famed interventionist.
Jeff VanVonderen -- who appeared on the A&E show "Intervention" -- says Demi's alarming relapse resulted from choosing to stop using the tools that kept her sober.
It's tough love for sure, but Jeff says it's all in Demi's hands. The good news ... he says she was able to use the tools to stay clean for 6 years, so she can do it again if she puts her mind to it.
TMZ broke the story ... Demi was in dire straits when she OD'd earlier this week in her Hollywood Hills home. Paramedics found her unconscious and, when she regained consciousness, she refused to tell EMTs what drug caused the 911 emergency.
Demi remains in the hospital and it's unclear how she feels about reentering rehab.

She just kinda stares at the birthday cake, so it's hard to know what state she was in. Daily Mail first reported on the vid.
As TMZ reported, people who observed Demi at Saddle Ranch saw no real signs she was under the influence of drugs ... she was laughing and smiling during the party, according to those present.
Demi took the party home, and at around 11:30 Tuesday morning her assistant went into Demi's bedroom and found her unconscious. TMZ broke the story, Demi had OD'd and she had to be revived with Narcan.

Demi Lovato OD Was Life and Death
Demi Lovato could have died Tuesday from her overdose -- it was that serious -- sources connected to the singer tell TMZ.
We're told the 911 call did not come a minute too soon, because Demi was in dire straits. "She could have died," said a source with firsthand knowledge. Demi was unconscious when she was discovered at around 11:30 AM and the 911 call was placed.
TMZ broke the story ... Demi received Narcan to counter the effects of opioids. As we reported, Demi and those who were at the house refused to disclose the drug or drugs that caused her to OD.
TMZ obtained the 911 call ... in which the person at Demi's home asked the dispatcher if the emergency vehicles could come without sirens -- presumably because they wanted to keep the OD on the down-low. The dispatcher informed the caller the sirens would stay on.
Demi remains hospitalized. We're told those around her want her to enter a rehab facility when she's released, but ultimately the decision is squarely hers.

Demi Lovato Overdose 911 Call No Sirens, Please
Demi Lovato's friends wanted to keep her OD on the DL ... asking paramedics to come to her house without sirens.
In the 911 call from Lovato's house -- obtained by TMZ -- the caller remains calm while taking orders from the dispatcher. As the ambulance approached, the dispatcher let the caller know they'd soon hear sirens to which the caller responded, requesting they be shut off ... seemingly to keep the situation private from neighbors. However, the dispatcher says that's just not possible.
We broke the story ... Demi was rushed to an L.A. hospital after suffering an overdose, which law enforcement believed was from heroin. However, a source close to the singer said it wasn't heroin, but refused to divulge the source of the OD.
Demi's emergency came after an all-night party that started with a birthday celebration for one of her backup dancers at Saddle Ranch in WeHo.
As we reported ... Lovato had been struggling with drugs for weeks, even before last month's public confession of a relapse on her song, "Sober."
Check out the initial dispatch audio (below). You hear the dispatcher for the L.A. Fire Department calling LAPD and saying, "I thought maybe you guys better go on something like this." It's unclear if he's saying the LAPD should go out because Demi is a celebrity, or because of a drug overdose. The call is redacted, so we don't know if Demi's name or the OD was mentioned.

Dennis Quaid Sued Eh, You Can't Smoke on This Flight ... And You Totally Did!
Dennis Quaid took a puff on a plane, and broke both the airline's policy and a fellow passenger's peace of mind ... according to a new lawsuit.
A guy named Karl Larsen is trying to drag Dennis to small claims court in L.A., claiming the veteran actor smoked an electronic cigarette next to him in first class on an Air Canada flight from Toronto to L.A. when he shouldn't have ... 2 whole years ago in July.
According to the complaint -- obtained by TMZ -- Larsen says Quaid owes him the cost of a plane ticket for ... well, reasons that are unclear. He doesn't spell out why Quaid should pay him, but he does make note that he's cutting the guy a break -- only looking to be reimbursed the price of a biz class seat (not first class) from TOR to LAX ... at just $3,829.
For the record, Air Canada has a zero-tolerance policy on e-cigarettes on board. Then again ... this thing might be much ado aboot nothin' when it comes right down to it.
We've reached out to Dennis' camp for comment ... so far, no word back.

Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney Look, Ladies ... We Got Free Tampons!!! ... Thanks, TMZ
Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney just learned that sometimes you gotta fight the good fight to get what you want -- and in this case he (and his female staffers) got it ... 500 boxes of tampons, and counting!!!
We got the New York Congressman Tuesday at his office in D.C., and he says folks across the country heard his message on TMZ loud and clear ... that the GOP had told him he couldn't use public funds to buy feminine hygiene products for his staff.
Maloney tells us tampons have been pouring in ever since he got on TMZ, and he's now dishing them out to anyone and everyone in Congress who wants some. Don't panic -- he's got plenty to go around.
It also sounds like he's still pissed Republicans don't seem to take women's health issues seriously, but he's happy to touch on tampons openly ... on Capitol Hill or in the grocery store.
