If you're wondering what it takes to look like The Rock (aside from ridiculous genetics) the new "Hercules" star just revealed the diet he maintains to play the son of Zeus -- and it's unbelievable.

Rock just posted the breakdown on Twitter -- and it includes 7 full meals with ridiculous quantities of food, including rice, 14 egg whites, all kinds of vegetables, and more than 3 POUNDS of meat.

It's been working too ... Rock's been posting pics of himself during filming (above) and he's more jacked than ever.

Unfortunately, you can't just eat like The Rock to look like him ... you kinda have to go to the gym too.

"Kick Ass 2" star Jim Carrey is confusing real-life violence with make-believe violence ... so says the film's writer, who's now firing back against Carrey for criticizing the movie's blood and guts.

As we reported, Carrey has officially withdrawn his support for the movie, claiming he can't advocate such a relentlessly violent film in the wake of the Sandy Hook Massacre.

But "Kick Ass 2" writer Mark Millar says Carrey's criticism is misplaced, writing, "Like Jim, I'm horrified by real-life violence (even though I'm Scottish), but Kick-Ass 2 isn't a documentary. No actors were harmed in the making of this production! This is fiction."

He posted the statement on his website, and hammered home his message to Jim by pointing out "Superman just snapped a guy's f***ing neck."

Veteran character actor Jeffrey Wright dodged a bullet today when New York prosecutors dropped his DWI case.

TMZ broke the story ... Wright -- who's been in about a million movies (roughly) -- was popped by cops back in April on suspicion on boozing while driving. Cops claimed he failed a field sobriety test ... failed miserably.

Sources close to the case tell us ... NY State prosecutors decided to drop the case, because of a lack of evidence.

Jim Carrey doesn't care if he torpedoes his new movie "Kick-Ass 2" ... he's speaking his mind ... bashing the film's extreme violence in the wake of last year's massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Jim -- who plays Colonel Stars and Stripes -- tweeted his sentiments today, saying, "I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence.”

He added, "My apologies to others involved with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart.”

The film, due out in August, is a highly anticipated sequel. The first one grossed almost $100 million worldwide. Make no mistake, to have Carrey -- by far the movie's biggest star -- drop his support is a huge blow.

Samuel L. Jackson's looks are off the chains.

"Reservoir Dogs" actor Michael Madsen has a really bad booze problem that needs immediate attention -- so says the judge in his DUI case ... who just ordered Madsen to check in to a live-in alcohol treatment facility.

Madsen appeared in court in Van Nuys today sporting a nasty black eye. It's unclear how he got the shiner ... but the actor has bigger problems.

The actor had been ordered to appear in court today after the judge revoked his probation stemming from his 2012 arrest ... when he was popped on PCH in a gleaming red hot rod with a blood alcohol level over twice the legal limit (allegedly).

Madsen had struck a plea deal in the case, in which he agreed to attend AA classes -- but we're told he blew them off, so the judge revoked his probation.

Today ... the judge decided he needed some extra help with his alcohol problem ... and ordered him to enroll in a residential treatment facility for at least 30 days.

The judge ordered Madsen not to leave the facility without court approval -- and said the court would reevaluate the situation after the 30-day period based on a progress report from the facility.

The sun wasn't the only thing that was hot in Bali yesterday -- Ashley Greene and Vanessa Hudgens went two pieces on the Indonesian island.

The actresses sunned themselves in barely-there bikinis while attending the Oakley Pro Bali surf competition. Ashley even took some surf lessons herself.

James Gandolfini -- who famously played Tony Soprano on "The Sopranos" -- died earlier today in Italy ... TMZ has learned.

Gandolfini is believed to have suffered a heart attack. He was 51.

Gandolfini was in Italy to attend the 59th Taormina Film Festival in Sicily -- and he was scheduled to participate in a festival event this weekend with Italian director Gabriele Muccino.

Gandolfini shot to fame playing a hitman in the 1993 hit "True Romance" ... and quickly became a Hollywood legend when he was cast as Tony Soprano in 1999. He won 3 Emmy awards for the role during the show's 6 season run.

'Sopranos' creator David Chase tells TMZ ... "[James] was a genius. He is one of the greatest actors of this or any time. A great deal of that genius resided in those sad eyes. I remember telling him many times, 'You don't get it. You're like Mozart.' There would be silence at the other end of the phone."

Chase added, "He was my partner, he was my brother in ways I can't explain and never will be able to explain.”

Gandolfini also appeared in a ton of huge movies including "Get Shorty," "The Mexican" and "Zero Dark Thirty."

We last spoke to Gandolfini in May in L.A. -- he was in great spirits, making funny faces and joking about a "Sopranos" movie.

His 'Sopranos' co-star Joseph R. Gannascoli -- who played Vito -- tells us, "James is one guy who never turned his back on me. He was the most humble and gifted actor and person I have ever worked with ... and I will forever be indebted to him."

Gandolfini is survived by his wife Deborah Lin, who gave birth to the couple's daughter in October 2012. He also has a teenage son from a previous marriage. R.I.P.

Sad news for "Terminator 3" star Nick Stahl -- TMZ has learned, the actor was placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold last night after being taken to an L.A. hospital.

Sources tell us, Stahl -- who has long struggled with drugs, alcohol, and other personal issues -- was transported to the medical facility around 3:30 AM this morning by a friend ... it's unclear why.

Details about circumstances of the psychiatric hold are also unclear.

George Lucas thinks he won an "NCAA" award for his movie "Red Tails" ... which is incredible since he neither rebounds nor shoots well from the paint.

Lucas was accepting his first Emmy for his animated series "Star Wars: Clone Wars" ... when he TRIED to reference the NAACP award he won earlier this year for his WWII drama about the Tuskegee Airmen.

Most 17-year-olds feel pressure to get into a good college, but not Abigail Breslin ... the teenage A-lister has $100,000 riding on whether or not she can nab an Academy Award from her upcoming flick.

According to Abigail's minor's contract -- recently obtained by TMZ -- the lil star was paid $75,000 for two weeks worth of work on a film called "August: Osage County" shot last fall. It also stars Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts.

Now here's the interesting part ... in AB's contract a special clause was added just for awards ... which states if Abigail wins the Golden Globe for best supporting actress she nabs a $50,000 bonus.

There's more ... if Abigail wins an Oscar she gets ANOTHER $50,000. And if she wins both, they throw her the whole shebang. Plus all that other stuff like: respect, honor, esteem, ... yadda, yadda.

Of course with moves like these, it's in the bag ...

Kevin Coster (58) plays Superman's Earth dad Pa Kent in the 2013 action adventure film "Man of Steel" -- while Russell Crowe (49) plays Superman's space dad Jor-El on the planet Krypton.

Just when you thought that epic dance movie flop "Battlefield America" couldn't lose any more money ... the film's director has just been ordered to pay $10,000 for screwing over one of the flick's investors.

As TMZ first reported, director Chris Stokes was sued in small claims court by a single mother, who claimed she invested $10,000 in his movie ... believing she'd be repaid in 30 days ... but the money was never returned to her.

Lo and behold, Stokes blew off her lawsuit -- and earlier this week, a judge entered a default judgment in the woman's favor, awarding her the $10,000 plus court costs.

It's another crippling financial blow to the filmmakers -- who dumped a reported $15 million into the picture, which later raked in only $172,000 in theaters.

The woman tells TMZ, “I simply want Christopher Stokes and team to make things right and pay what they owe me."

Stokes tells us the case eventually dismissed his name from the claim adding ..."It is very unfortunate that my name was falsely brought into this situation. It's even more unfortunate that a person would try to damage my name and reputation in such a way."

"Bling Ring" bandito Nick Prugo thinks Paris Hilton needs to chill about the whole "I robbed you" thing ... telling TMZ he already gave back $1 MILLION worth of stuff and has nothing left to give.

Paris recently did an interview regarding the release of "Bling Ring" -- Sofia Coppola's film based on Nick and his friends robbing a slew of celebs back in '09 -- and when asked about any hard feelings Paris explained, "I don't know what I'd do if I saw them. I'm not a confrontational person. But I would literally be like, 'You guys need serious help. And I want my stuff back.'"

On Friday when our photog ran into Nick -- who was just released from prison in April for the crimes -- he told us there's nothing left in the tank. He claims he gave back $1 million to the victims, including Paris, plus the heiress got most her stuff back.

Don't expect Gene Wilder and Tim Burton to share a candy bar together any time soon ... because Wilder says he flat out HATES the director's remake of his classic film, "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory."

Wilder made a rare appearance Thursday night in NYC and spoke with Turner Classic Movies host Robert Osborne. According to The Wrap, Wilder called the 2005 movie "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" starring Johnny Depp "an insult" to the original.

Wilder said he had no beef with Depp (calling him "a good actor") but said of Burton, "I don't care for that director. He's a talented man, but I don't care for him doing stuff like he did."

Tim Allen celebrated the big 6-0 last night like any newly-minted sexagenarian ... by taking in a quiet movie with friends -- but that plan fell through big time when a MARCHING BAND stomped through to wish him a happy birthday!!!!!

We're told Tim's friends were behind the birthday prank -- and it's hilarious. Tim even cracks a few zingers afterward.

For those interested, we're told Tim and his friends rented out the whole theater to see the new "Superman" movie ... but based on the reviews, the marching band was probably the highlight.
