Un trabajador de una tienda de California intentó detener a un presunto ladrón, pero acabó en urgencias con quemaduras en todo el cuerpo después de que el sospechoso le prendiera fuego.

El empleado, Suraj, estaba trabajando con su compañero en Appian Food and Liquor, en El Sobrante el 22 de septiembre cuando Kendall Burton entró y presuntamente robó líquido para encendedores por tercera vez ese día.

El compañero de trabajo vio el robo y notificó Suraj, que fue a confrontar Burton y fue cuando comenzaron los problemas.

El vídeo de vigilancia muestra a Suraj luchando violentamente con Burton, mientras que su compañero de trabajo agarra un bate de béisbol que tenía dentro de la tienda.

Durante el forcejeo, Burton vierte el líquido sobre la cabeza de Suraj y le prende fuego.

Antes de que se corte el vídeo, se ve a Suraj corriendo frenéticamente al baño para apagar las llamas rociándose con agua.

A California store clerk tried to stop an alleged shoplifter, but ended up in the emergency room with burns covering his body after he was set ablaze by the suspected thief.

The clerk, Suraj, was working with his coworker in Appian Food and Liquor in El Sobrante September 22, when Kendall Burton came in and allegedly stole lighter fluid for the third time that day.

The coworker saw the theft and notified Suraj, who went to confront Burton ... and all hell broke loss.

Newly released surveillance video shows Suraj violently struggling with Burton, while his coworker retrieves a baseball bat from somewhere inside the store.

During the tussle, Burton pours the accelerant over Suraj's head and lights him on fire.

Before the video cuts off, Suraj is seen frantically running to the bathroom to extinguish the flames by dousing himself with water.

Suraj was rushed to a local hospital and treated for serious burns over his face, neck, chest and shoulder.

From his hospital bed, Suraj told CBS Bay Area that no one should be subject to such dangers and called for more security in the workplace. He also said he has a long road to recovery and needs several surgeries to repair the extensive damage.

His wife has set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for his rising medical costs.

Amanda Serrano isn't only seeking a win next month, she's also looking to prove women absolutely can box 12 three-minute rounds, telling TMZ Sports the ladies can do it just like the men!

You may not even know ... female boxers don't go three-minute rounds, but rather fight for two minutes.

But, that's about to change when Serrano steps in the ring with Danila Ramos (12-2, 1 KO) on October 27 ... 'cause they're going the full three-minute rounds in Orlando ... the first female fighters to do so in 16 years!

"It's definitely been a long time since it happened," Serrano told us this week. "I'm excited."

"I have an amazing team backing me up that's pushing this fight and it about time we showcase now that I have this platform, now that I have this exposure to showcase that women can and will and capable of going 12, three-minute rounds."

Now, the reason behind WBC's rule is supposedly for the safety of the women, who are said to be at greater risk for head injuries. The Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine once said "female athletes appear to sustain more severe concussions than male athletes, due in part to a lower biomechanical threshold tolerance for head impacts.”

Whether or not it's medically accurate, Serrano (45-2-1, 30 KOs) wants to fight three-minute rounds ... and hopes to show that's how it should always be going forward.

"It's two women going at it but you know I'm hoping to prove come October 27 that we can do it and we're gonna come out well and healthy," Serrano said.

The bottom line ... Amanda says she's going to put on a helluva show in Orlando.

"It's gonna be an amazing night of nonstop action," the 34-year-old said. "You're gonna see me for three minutes, go out there and throw all my punches like I usually do!"

A Michigan teacher had a harrowing experience in school this week ... she was knocked unconscious by a metal chair throwing student.

The terrifying incident was captured on video Thursday afternoon in a classroom at Southwestern Classical Academy in Flint.

Check out the clip ... the instructor is standing in front of her class as one of the students yells at her from the side of the room.

It's not clear what the beef is about ... but, at some point, the student picks up the chair and throws it at the teacher, who gets clobbered in the head with it and drops like a sack of potatoes to the floor.

What's worse ... another student is heard cheering as the teacher lays unconscious.

The woman was eventually rushed to a hospital, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.

Southwestern Academy Superintendent Kevelin Jones wrote a letter to parents informing them about the attack, which was described as a "physical altercation between two scholars" that led to the teacher getting hurt.

In the letter, Jones did not indicate whether the unruly student was arrested by police and/or punished by the school.

A 3-year-old girl shot herself with an unattended gun in a Florida home, and the horrific incident was caught on video.

The young girl, named Serenity, was playing in the living room at her grandma's Miami-Dade abode last Saturday when she jumped onto the couch near the loaded firearm sitting in plain view.

Check out this newly released footage ... which shows Serenity grabbing the pistol with her hand and peering over at a relative, Orlando Young, who is preoccupied watching a football game on his laptop.

Suddenly, the gun discharges and Serenity is hit in her arm, crying out in pain.

Young looks up, totally stunned, and rushes over to Serenity to check out her injury and give her assistance. Other people dash into the room as total chaos ensues.

Young directs another person to get a belt to wrap around the bullet wound to stop the bleeding. He then escorts Serenity out of the living room, but soon returns to retrieve his gun from the couch before the video cuts off.

Serenity was eventually taken to a hospital, where she underwent surgery. She was released Tuesday and is now recovering at home.

There's clearly no beef between Travis Hunter and Henry Blackburn ... the star players linked up less than 2 weeks after the controversial hit in the Colorado vs. Colorado State game caused outrage among fans.

The two college football stars met this week ... and literally bro-hugged it out, as someone else filmed the interaction.

Remember, Blackburn laid the wallop on Hunter -- one of the most talented players in the country -- during the September 16th game. The issue ... the hit was late, and in many fans' minds, dirty. Henry wasn't called for targeting but did receive a penalty.

Hunter's Buffaloes won a double OT thriller, 43-35. But, they did it for most of the game with Travis ... who was seriously hurt in the collision with Blackburn.

In fact, the hit has already forced the receiver/cornerback to miss time with a lacerated liver.

As for Blackburn, a Colorado State captain, he's caught hell for the play ... even receiving death threats. University police are still investigating those threats.

Despite how people on the outside felt, there were signs right away that there wasn't any beef between Trav, the Colorado team and Henry. Even Coach Prime, Deion Sanders, asked fans to leave Blackburn alone.

"Travis Hunter has forgiven him. Let's move on. That kid does not deserve that, Sanders said last week.

Hunter agreed ... saying, "It’s football at the end of the day. Stuff like that gonna happen. He did what he was supposed to do. It's football."

And, looking at the guys together, it seems everything is all good!

Bruce Springsteen has pulled the plug on all concerts for the rest of the year while he continues to recover from his recent health issue.

Springsteen & the E Street Band put out a statement Wednesday, saying the singer "has continued to recover steadily from peptic ulcer disease over the past few weeks and will continue treatment through the rest of the year on doctor's advice."

The group says all remaining 2023 dates will have to be pushed to next year, "out of an abundance of caution" ... with the postponed dates being announced sometime next week. Those unable to come to the new show will be able to get a refund.

Bruce himself added, "Thanks to all my friends and fans for your good wishes, encouragement, and support. I'm on the mend and can't wait to see you all next year."

As we reported, The Boss announced earlier this month that he was going to have to push pause on all September shows as a result of the treatments he's been getting for symptoms of his disease.

Colin Kaepernick wrote a letter to the general manager of the NY Jets days after Aaron Rodgers went down with a serious injury during MNF ... asking the organization to consider signing him to their practice squad.

News of the correspondence was actually broken by J. Cole ... who posted the typed note, sent to Joe Douglas, to his X account on Tuesday.

Previously, there were reports that Kap expressed interest in joining the squad ... but now we're looking at the entire letter.

"I'm writing, of course, in response to the unfortunate loss of Aaron Rodgers. I know the aspirations this season were, and still are, to win a championship, and so that Hall of Fame sized hole will need to be filled as best as possible to keep the team on a Super Bowl track," 35-year-old Kaepernick opened the letter.

But, if you thought he was seeking the starting gig from the jump, as barren as the Jets QB room currently is, you're mistaken.

Colin explained ... "As much as I would love the opportunity to fill that [starting] spot, I'm writing you in hopes that you can imagine a much different approach involving me; I would be honored and extremely grateful for the opportunity to come in and lead the practice squad."

"I would do this with the sole mission of getting your defense ready each week."

FYI, NFL teams all have "practice squads" ... consisting of 16 players who, you guessed it, practice with the team during the week, but do not dress for games.

It's a lot of sacrifice for little money or glory ... especially for a guy who was a star and even started a Super Bowl -- like Kap.

Kaepernick went on to say, if things didn't work with Zach Wilson (and let's be honest, it ain't working), he could be a backup plan (no pun intended) for the team.

"I believe a confident Zach Wilson has the tools to do this. However, in the event that this is not the case, I would love to offer you a risk-free contingency plan."

Despite not playing in the NFL since 2016 for the San Francisco 49ers, Colin believes he's still a top-tier signal caller.

"I am sure of my ability to provide you with an elite QB option if, God forbid, QB1 goes down."

Despite the long layoff, CK's adamant he's never stopped training, and is raring and ready to go.

"Unlike many of the veteran QB's that have been named in the media, I've never retired or stopped training."

Despite the letter, the Jets have obviously not signed Kap up to this point.

Britney Spears may have cut herself when playing with knives ... now sporting a bandage and what appears to be a gash on her thigh and lower back.

Britney just posted the video, wearing the same outfit she was in when she spun around, jabbed and clanged together two butcher knives ... only this time she's got the new apparent injuries.

Britney doesn't explain why she's got the white bandage or what caused the cut on her upper thigh or lower back, but they're all new injuries since her first knife video Monday night.

As we told you ... Britney's got a fascination with knives. In fact, when she was taken off her conservatorship there were recommendations given in order to make sure she was safe. One of the most important recommendations was to keep knives away from Britney.

Our sources say she keeps the sharp tools throughout her house -- including inside her bedroom -- as a form of protection out of fear she'll be re-institutionalized.

Of course, Britney claimed the knives in Monday's video were fake, but only after she got a ton of heat for posting the video online. They also sounded VERY real when she clanged them together.

Commander is reported to have chomped down on another Secret Service agent Monday ... this according to a spokesperson for the agency. They confirmed that one of their guys had been bitten around 8 PM and that he was treated by medical personnel.

The exact circumstances of what led up to the biting and the extent of the SS agent's injuries haven't been disclosed -- but regardless ... it's proven to be a troubling trend this year.

Remember, it was revealed in July that Commander apparently went on a 4-month biting spree ... attacking several different Secret Service agents with varying degrees of wounds. The number we'd heard at the time was 7 ... but some reports had it as high as 10.

The White House Press Secretary said the dog was stressed out by all the commotion and people darting back and forth in the residence area of The White House and other areas as well.

When this came to light in the summer, the White House said they were going to have Commander undergo more training/leashing ... and that they'd also carve out designated areas and times on the grounds for Commander to roam and stretch his legs.

There was no indication that Commander would get the boot like his older brother, Major ... another German Shepherd of Biden's that had also run into biting trouble.

LSU women's basketball head coach Kim Mulkey was forced to undergo heart surgery in June after doctors discovered she had an artery that was nearly completely blocked.

But, thankfully, she says she's now doing well.

The 61-year-old revealed the ailment was initially discovered way back in May after she had noticed some tingling in the tip of one of her fingers.

She said the problem led to her going to a doctor -- and following some testing, she told ESPN she found out she had "plaque on her carotid arteries."

Further testing showed she had a blockage in her heart -- and would need to have two stents put in to fix the issue. She held off on the surgery until after the Tigers' May visit to the White House.

"You're awake for the procedure," she said, according to ESPN. "Then they told me, 'You were 95-99% blocked in one artery.' And I said, 'Doc, why didn't I feel bad in any way?' He said, 'You're what's called an asymptomatic patient. You're the ones that can die suddenly and drive cardiologists crazy.' I asked if I was likely to have had a heart attack without the procedure, and he said, 'Yes, eventually.'"

Mulkey is now feeling good and taking medication to make sure the problem doesn't return. She's also urging people to go get checked out, even if they're feeling OK.

"The issue with my heart, it was really just luck that we found it," she said. "So I will keep telling people, 'Get yourself checked out. You have nothing to lose, and it could save your life.'"

TMZ Hip Hop checked in with Paul, who says he and Krayzie recently put a jolt of urgency into their long-awaited collab album, as their respective fan bases have told them repeatedly that's the only thing they're checking for.

Paul says they were cranking out songs at an abnormal pace last Wednesday and his Cleveland counterpart seemed fine -- he humorously notes how Krayzie's tongue-twisting ways require a bit more writing time to cram the words into the notebook, but says they recorded more than usual.

It was the very next day that Paul says he learned Krayzie checked himself into the hospital. While he's been on pins and needles ever since then, Paul says he anticipates Krayzie will make a full recovery.

Paul credits Krayzie for ending the Bone Thugs vs. Three 6 wax wars by collaborating with Project Pat back in the '90s -- and says the beef was just a clash over similarities in their music. It famously flared up again during their 2021 Verzuz battle.
