James Comey I Won't Back Down!!! Pleads Not Guilty to Criminal Charges
Former FBI Director James Comey pleaded not guilty to criminal charges many have viewed as an act of retribution by President Donald Trump's administration on Wednesday.
The government figure was charged with making false statements to Congress and obstructing a congressional proceeding, according to The New York Times.
Comey entered his plea at a federal court in Alexandria, Virginia, on Wednesday. The judge who's overseeing the case has set a trial date for January 5, 2026.
The former FBI Director wasn't taken into custody after he entered his plea, and there won't be any conditions for his release. His lawyer, Patrick Fitzgerald, stated he'll be filing a motion to dismiss the case prior to its scheduled start date.
Comey was indicted in September, and the charges both stem from his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee in 2020. He's been accused of lying about leaking confidential information to the media.
The prosecution will be led by Lindsey Halligan, who was selected by Trump to replace the former U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia ... who had resigned in protest over being pressured to prosecute Comey.
Halligan's background is mostly in insurance law ... she joined Trump's personal legal team in 2022 after the FBI raided his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida. Halligan later started working in the White House as an aide in January 2025.
The Comey trial is estimated to take two to three days to complete. Fitzgerald said he's confident the case will be dismissed on motions he plans to file regarding vindictive prosecution, and Halligan's appointment, which he sees as wrongful.
It's also worth noting James' daughter, Maurene, sued the Trump administration back in September, alleging she'd been unlawfully fired from her position as the Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York.

Jeff Bridges Brings Back 'The Dude' To Speak Out Against ICE Raids
It looks like Jeff Bridges is still cool with revisiting old roles ... because he just reprised his old part as "The Dude" from "The Big Lebowski" while appearing on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Tuesday.
The actor was being interviewed ahead of the premiere of "Tron: Ares," in which he stars, when Kimmel asked him to share a few choice quotes ... in character, of course.
Bridges hopped into a sweater and a pair of sunglasses -- if anyone needs Halloween ideas, take notes -- and got into character, asking viewers to seriously consider chilling out.
Bridges turned his focus to the ongoing ICE raids, and quipped we should be getting ICE "off the streets and into our beverages, man" -- and yes, White Russians were served.
Bridges finished off by referencing one of The Dude's catchphrases ... telling the audience and viewers not just to abide, but to "abide together."
This isn't the first time Bridges has returned to the role, portraying The Dude in a Super Bowl ad for Stella Artois in 2019.
It was a pretty solid interview -- and we think The Dude's special appearance really tied it all together, man.

Conor McGregor Sidelined From The UFC For 18 Months After Missing Tests
Conor McGregor's going to be spending a bit more time outside of the octagon ... because he just got hit with an 18-month suspension through Combat Sports Anti-Doping, which is affiliated with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
The mixed-martial-arts (MMA) promotion company shared an announcement about The Notorious' time off through its official website on Tuesday, and it was revealed his suspension was due to "whereabouts failures" under its anti-doping policy -- in other words, he no-showed for an important test several times.
Athletes in the UFC are required to give the company accurate location information at all times so they can get tested -- at random intervals, of course.
Conor missed three tests, which were all scheduled to take place in June and September 2024. He apparently accepted responsibility for the no-shows, and he ended up having his suspension reduced by six months.
We should also note the professional fighter claims he was recovering from an injury and wasn't preparing for a match when the tests were supposed to have been taken.
Conor's period of ineligibility kicked off on September 20, 2024, when he was supposed to have his third of three tests, and it'll continue until March 20, 2026.
The athlete most recently fought in 2021, when he lost to Dustin Poirier. He was set to get back to the octagon in 2024, although he pulled out of his scheduled bout after suffering an injury during training.
It's worth noting Conor's suspension will end just a few months before the UFC's planned event at the White House ... and he's been pretty open about wanting to be included on the fight card for the big night.

Greta Thunberg Detained by Israel Trying to Bring Gaza Aid, Released and Sent to Greece
Greta Thunberg claimed Israel is committing "genocide" against Palestinians after she landed in Athens, Greece, with more than 150 other activists on Monday.
Israel detained 479 people, including Thunberg, who were involved with the Global Sumud Flotilla, boats that attempted to pierce Israel's naval blockade in order to bring aid to Gaza, according to Reuters.
The Israeli government subsequently deported hundreds of individuals associated with the flotilla, and Thunberg was part of a group of 161, made up of people from 16 European countries, who were given the boot and sent to Athens, BBC News reports. Thunberg was similarly denied entry to Gaza and expelled, with others, in June.
Thunberg said the flotilla's main objective was to "step up" and provide aid to Gazans after various governments continue to refuse to do so.
Several activists involved in the flotilla alleged they were subject to inhumane conditions and treatment while they were detained in Israel. Some described sleep deprivation, food and water being withheld ... and even beatings, and being locked in a cage, Reuters reports. Israel's foreign ministry denied the reports.
It should be noted various other international organizations have also declared Israel is commiting genocide against Palestinians, including Israeli human rights organizations and the United Nations Human Rights Commission.

AOC took the whole thing in stride, posting on X that she was "crying" about the fact Miller had to rewatch the clip on live TV.
