Demi Lovato Struggled with Drugs Weeks Before OD

Published | Updated

Demi Lovato's overdose was not a shock to some of her friends, who say there were big warning signs for weeks that she had lost her battle for sobriety.

Friends of Demi tell us ... even before she released her song, "Sober," confessing she had fallen off the wagon, it was apparent to them she had slipped back into her drug use. They say the signs became more alarming as the days passed, and one friend says he knew for weeks she was in the danger zone ... when he saw her this week it was apparent she was in trouble.

Another warning sign ... she had a big falling out with her sober coach earlier in the month, accusing him of betraying her.

It seems Demi was able to compartmentalize her social life, because other friends say they didn't see this coming. One friend says he was at her home less than 2 weeks ago and she seemed great.

TMZ broke the story ... Demi OD'd at her home Tuesday and law enforcement sources say it was an apparent heroin overdose, but a source close to Demi says it was NOT heroin. When they arrived, she was unconscious and they used Narcan to bring her back. Narcan is used to counter overdoses of opioids.

It almost sounds like he's chastising concert-goers for standing around -- although, it's unclear from the video who is (or isn't) springing into action on the ground level.

Either way, Trippie did his part. We're told he threw a water bottle out to the girl, which she eventually drank after getting back to her feet ... allowing the show to resume.

But on Thursday, the 32-year-old Green Bay Packers linebacker surfaced in California to shoot a commercial for Walmart without any noticeable scarring.

Props to the surgeon ... like Michelangelo with a scalpel!

As for the softball injury, Clay was pitching to offensive lineman Lucas Patrick -- who connected a little TOO well.

After the incident, Clay tweeted ... "Thank you for all the concern and well-wishes. I busted my nose pretty good and will have surgery once the swelling subsides. Thankful as it could have been much more serious."

Hopefully, Patrick sent flowers ...

CB TO THE RESCUE

Being onstage with Chris Brown was too much for one young kid who went down like a ton of bricks during the singer's performance.

Chris performed at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, NJ Wednesday night. He had a kid come up onstage with him and was in the middle of his track, "Loyal," when the kid all of a sudden fainted. Thankfully, the kid wasn't too big for CB to scoop him up and hand him back to someone in the crowd ... hopefully a responsible parent or guardian.

It was a strange moment, for sure. Chris posted the video and said he was "scared for a second."
