What do Sonny and Cher, Kansas, Michael Jackson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bono, Whitney Houston, Dolly Parton, The Beach Boys, Lil Wayne, Lady Gaga, Toby Keith, Jefferson Airplane, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Amy Winehouse, Weezer, The Rolling Stones, The Supremes, Bonnie Raitt, Otis Redding, Air Supply, Jimmy Buffett, Johnny Cash, Bob Seger and Fleetwood Mac have in common?

They're all responsible for a bunch of small town bars possibly getting forced out of business for the capital offense of playing their songs.

Here's the deal. BMI -- the famous music licensing company -- has filed lawsuits against 12 bars and restaurants around the country, claiming the establishments have been playing their songs without paying a licensing fee. And it gets a lot worse. For every BMI song that gets played on a bar jukebox or by a DJ without the proper fee being paid, BMI is entitled to $150,000 in damages. So "Love Child" could literally put a bar out of biz.

As for how BMI picked the places to sue -- it appears to have been pretty random. Some of the targets are The Fox Hole in West Jordan, Utah, Mojo Main in Newark, Delaware, Whiskey River Ranch, (we think it's in Springfield, Oregon), Whiskey Bones Roadhouse in Rochester, Minnesota, Kildare's Irish Pub in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and Pig 'N' Whistle in NYC.

The chick-vs-chick beatdown at Slammiversary XI is already being hailed as one of the most FEROCIOUS matches in female wrestling history ... and one of the TNA knockouts has the battle wounds to prove it.

Taryn Terrell knows ... there's nothing fake about being slammed on your head or launched onto your back from several feet above the ground ... because after Sunday's big "Last Knockout Standing" match in Boston, she was covered in bruises.

The 27-year-old tells TMZ ... she's overwhelmed by all the praise she's been getting since the match ... and says she's just happy to help bring more attention to women's wrestling.

Taryn adds, "People underestimate me for being blonde and bubbly, but I'm an athlete, and I have a passion for wrestling ... I'll do whatever it takes to prove people wrong."

Miguel was ORDERED not to attempt a dangerous jump over the crowd during his performance at the Billboard Music Awards because producers believed it was too dangerous ... but the singer ignored them ... sources connected to the production tell TMZ.

We're told ... Miguel approached producers before rehearsals and asked if he could try to jump over the crowd during his performance ... but producers shot down the idea, telling Miguel it was just too dangerous.

But when showtime came around, Miguel blew off the order ... and producers' fears were realized when he botched the jump and leg dropped a female fan ... slamming her head against the stage.

Now, the victim's lawyer says she may have suffered a brain injury as a result ... and a lawsuit could be on the way.

As you'll recall ... Miguel took a flying, theatrical leap across the stage and landed with thunderous force on Khyati Shah's head.

Vip Bhola, Shah's lawyer, says, "Some of the difficulties she's experiencing are cognitive in nature and lead to suspicion of a neurological head injury."

Bhola says BMA responded to the accident with a pathetic gesture -- an ice pack designed to soothe a bruised elbow. The attorney insists his client should have been rushed to the hospital.

Bhola tells us his client is waiting for test results from a neurologist. When the results are in -- sometime next week -- Khyati will decide if a lawsuit is in the cards.

Michael Douglas' ex-wife wants to make something perfectly clear -- eating out was safe when he was married to her.

Douglas told a British paper over the weekend ... his 2010 throat cancer was "caused by HPV [human papillomavirus], which actually comes about from cunnilingus."

Diandra Douglas -- whose epic divorce from Michael in 2000 was one of the richest marital settlements in history -- tells TMZ she does NOT have HPV ... period.

A popular L.A. comic says she had to have 1,000 gallstones removed from her body all thanks to a Jenny Craig diet ... and now she's suing the weight loss giant claiming they knew their products were dangerous and did nothing to warn their customers.

Mara Shapshay -- who regularly performs at the Laugh Factory and writes for Glamour Magazine -- filed a lawsuit against J.C. this week, claiming she started Jenny in 2011 hoping to shed some lbs ... but developed serious medical problems about a year later.

In fact, Shapshay claims she was hospitalized with severe abdominal pain ... and doctors ultimately discovered roughly 1,000 gallstones in her body.

Mara says she was forced to undergo multiple surgeries and now suffers from fatigue, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting ... and blames J.C. for a recent miscarriage.

But the worst part, according to Shapshay ... Jenny Craig KNEW its program could lead to gallbladder disease ... but failed to inform their customers of the risks.

Shapshay is seeking unspecified damage$$$.

Amanda Bynes followed through on her promise to get her nose fixed after seeing it in her mug shot ... and she tells TMZ she already wants to get another procedure ... ASAP.

In one of her post-arrest Twitter rants, Bynes said she was planning on "getting in shape and getting a nose job!"

Bynes -- who previously copped to having a nose job weeks before her arrest -- tells TMZ she got the procedure done yesterday in Manhattan and explains, "I have no bandage on. It's healing on it's own like my doctor asked."

But she's not stopping there, telling us, "I'm getting one more in 3 weeks, they are short amazing surgeries done while I'm awake but under general anesthesia. It's almost perfect."

She says once her nose "doesn't look so awful in photos" she will stop hiding from the paps.

Michael Douglas says his near-death bout with throat cancer was caused by an STD he picked up while giving oral sex. TMI, Michael!!!!

Douglas dropped the bombshell in an interview with the Guardian UK -- telling the paper that his particular form of throat cancer was caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) that was contracted from "cunnilingus" ... a.k.a performing oral sex on a female.

He explains, "It's a sexually transmitted disease that causes cancer. If you have it, cunnilingus is also the best cure for it." The last part is NOT supported by doctors.

FYI -- HPV is more famously known to cause cervical and anal cancer.

Douglas was diagnosed with stage 4 throat cancer back in 2010. He underwent weeks of radiation and chemo.

In her first red carpet appearance since announcing she underwent a double mastectomy, Angelina Jolie posed for pics with Brad Pitt today at the London premiere of his movie "World War Z."

In an op-ed piece for the New York Times last month, Jolie revealed she underwent a preventative double mastectomy back in February because "doctors estimated that I had an 87 percent risk of breast cancer and a 50 percent risk of ovarian cancer."

Since making the announcement, Jolie has been recovering at home in Los Angeles before taking on her next project -- directing a film called "Unbroken."

That stupid, red parking sign that bashed Kanye West in the face last month will NEVER HURT ANYONE AGAIN ... 'cause it's just been raised WAAYYY above head-bashing range, TMZ has learned.

The sign (sporting a 1-0 record in street fights) ... famously K.O.'d Mr. West back in May when the rapper was trying to walk to a nearby restaurant while shielding his face from the paparazzi.

Kanye went BALLISTIC after the sign attack ... and unleashed a legendary screaming, running, angry tirade at the photogs.

Now, we've learned the people who own the property have decided to take action -- raising the sign by several feet ... so it towers over any regular-sized person.

Of course, it's possible the sign-owners made the move to prevent a future lawsuit ... but as for Kanye, we're told he hasn't made any sort of legal threat since the incident.

Bottom line -- the streets of Bev Hills are now safe for walkers ... unless you're a giant.

Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Mike Adams was stabbed earlier today while reportedly trying to stop some hooligans from stealing his truck and is currently recovering in the hospital.

The Steelers confirmed the incident on their website, saying, "Mike Adams was injured and is hospitalized after being stabbed in an apparent robbery attempt early Saturday morning in Pittsburgh’s South Side."

Adams reportedly caught three men attempting to hijack his truck, which was parked in front of his home. During the confrontation Adams was allegedly stabbed by one of the assailants ... who then ran off.

According to Adams' agent, Eric Metz, Adams continued to chase the alleged thieves, even while injured. Adams was then taken to the hospital, where he had to undergo surgery for the wound. Luckily no vital organs were affected.

The NFLer tweeted about the incident afterwards, saying, "I had an angel lookin out for me! I'll be ok just gotta fight to get back harder then ever."

Hulk Hogan is refusing to let his charred-up hand run wild on his wrestling plans -- TMZ has learned the Hulkster has CONFIRMED he'll appear at TNA wrestling's big pay-per-view event in Boston this weekend.

It's kind of a shock ... considering Hogan's been undergoing daily medical procedures on his hand ever since he burned the holy hell out of it during a boating accident last weekend.

But TNA president Dixie Carter tells us she talked with Hulk ... and the wrestling legend reassured her that he will not only attend Slammiversary XI -- but he's planning on taking part in a fan interaction event the day before ... signing autographs.

Luckily the 59-year old wrestler writes with his right hand ... the one without the disgusting burn marks.

Scott Thorson -- Liberace's former lover who was just portrayed by Matt Damon -- has been bailed out of jail by Dennis Hof, the owner of the Bunny Ranch brothel ... TMZ has learned.

Thorson's life with Liberace is the subject of HBO's "Behind the Candelabra" -- but not covered in the movie is the fact Thorson has been sitting behind bars in Reno since February 22 ... waiting to be sentenced on burglary and identity theft charges.

Thorson pled guilty last month after getting busted for using stolen credit cards. Attorney David Houston is representing him at sentencing in July.

Hof tells TMZ he decided to help because he felt Thorson -- who has stage II colon cancer -- was not getting proper treatment in jail.

Philip Seymour Hoffman just got out of detox for a drug problem that was spinning out of control ... a problem he desperately wanted to nip in the bud ... and he's already back doing a movie.

Hoffman -- who struggled with substance abuse in the past but kicked the habit for 23 years -- fell off the wagon more than a year ago. He tells TMZ it started slowly with prescription pills, and recently escalated to snorting heroin.

Hoffman -- who won a Best Actor Oscar in 2006 for "Capote" -- tells us the heroin use only lasted a week or so and he quickly realized he needed help, so he checked himself into a detox facility on the East Coast.

He says he was at the facility for 10 days and checked out last Friday. Hoffman credits what he calls "a great group of friends and family" for helping him seek the treatment he needed to get better.

And at least for now, it seems it worked, because Hoffman is clean and back on a movie set in Europe.

TMZ has obtained video of the exact moment Big Boi from Outkast DESTROYED HIS KNEE during a live performance a few days ago ... and ... yeah, it hurts to watch.

The Outkast co-founder was finishing up a rendition of "Bombs Over Baghdad" at Summer Camp Fest in Illinois on Sunday when he jumped up for the big finish ... but botched the landing and blew out his left knee.

Big Boi was clearly in a ton of pain ... but sucked it up and mustered the strength to limp off the stage.

After the show, the 38-year-old rapper said doctors diagnosed him with a "torn patella" ( ... since the patella is a bone, we're guessing he meant "patellar tendon").

Either way ... Big Boi has since undergone surgery to fix his busted joint, which forced him to postpone several tour dates ... but the rapper insists he'll be back on stage in 6 weeks.
