Lil Peep Hometown Memorial Service ... After Death

Lil Peep was honored by family, friends and fans alike in his hometown this weekend during a very personal memorial service following his sudden death.

The service went down Saturday in Peep's stomping grounds of Long Beach, New York -- where what appeared to be a modestly large crowd gathered as speakers went up to a podium one by one to share some words about the fallen rapper.

His mother, Liza Womack, spoke at the event -- as did his grandmother. Watch the full service at your own risk ... it's a real tearjerker.

We broke the story ... Peep's death is now under investigation after text messages a woman allegedly sent were discovered, which read in part ... "GBC [Lil Peep] high af because of me and my friend lol ... He passed the f*** out my brother called and I tried to get him to say hi to my brother but he wouldn't wake up ..."

Police are also looking into whether Xanax Peep took before his death might've been laced with fentanyl.

Peep died last month of a suspected overdose. He was only 21.

Speaking of which, we tried to get some 'Last Jedi' scoop from Billie, but apparently being Princess Leia's spawn isn't even enough for Disney to risk spoilers getting out.

Charles Manson Battle for His Body Pen Pal, Grandson Want It

Published | Updated

Charles Manson's body is in limbo now that 2 people have come forward laying claim to the corpse ... TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell us Jason Freeman -- who claims to be Manson's legit grandson -- has contacted the Kern County Sheriff to say he wants Manson's body. The other candidate is Michael Channels, who was Manson's longtime pen pal.

Channels has one thing in his favor ... Manson's will. TMZ broke the story, Manson left everything to Channels and we know he's already informed the Sheriff he's the executor -- and he's filed it in probate court.

Even though Freeman might be Manson's kin -- he claims he's taken a DNA test -- he'd still have to contest the will in court to get a shot at the body.

It's now been 10 days since Manson died, and if no one had made a claim the Sheriff's Department would have cremated his remains. We're told that's on hold until a ruling from the court.

David Cassidy Dead at 67

Published | Updated

David Cassidy, the 'Partridge Family' heartthrob who sold millions of records and became the fantasy of millions of girls, is dead.

Cassidy died in a Florida hospital after his organs failed.

Family sources tell TMZ, David had been on life support since Monday. Doctors advised the family Tuesday the only way David could survive was with a liver transplant, but he was not a candidate because he would never survive surgery. The family decided at around noon to remove life support.

A number of family members were present when David died, including his brothers Shaun, Patrick and Ryan, his children Beau and Katie, along with various nephews and his ex-wife, Sue Cassidy.

We're told death came almost immediately after life support was withdrawn.

TMZ broke the story, David was in need of a kidney transplant but ultimately doctors said it was futile. His liver and other organs shut down and early Sunday his son and ex-wife were summoned to the hospital to say goodbye.

Cassidy was a multi-faceted entertainer ... from singing, to acting to Broadway to Vegas. "The Partridge Family" hit like an earthquake and catapulted him to stardom. The show ran from 1970 - 1974 and produced hits like "I Think I Love You," "Come On Get Happy," and "Doesn't Somebody Want to Be Wanted."

David reluctantly auditioned for the role of the guitar-playing Keith Partridge and producers cast him not even knowing if he could carry a tune.

After "The Partridge Family" ran its course, David recorded a number of solo hits, including the remakes of "Cherish," "How Can I Be Sure" and "Rock Me Baby."

He took the starring role on Broadway in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" from 1983 to 1984.

David was the son of actor Jack Cassidy and Broadway performer Evelyn Ward.

David guest starred in a number of TV series, including "The F.B.I." "Marcus Welby, M.D.," "Ironside," "Bonanza" and "Medical Center."

Cassidy battled alcoholism for most of his adult life.

He's survived by son Beau, daughter Katie -- who stars in "Arrow" -- half-brothers Shaun, Patrick and Ryan, step-mother and co-star Shirley Jones and ex-wife Sue Shifrin-Cassidy.
