How D.C. Murder Suspect Elias Rodriguez Ended Up Facing Serious Charges
The grounds of the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. became the site of a tragic incident in May 2025, when a gunman shot and killed two Israeli Embassy workers outside the building.
Police have since identified the suspect as Elias Rodriguez, who was arrested at the scene of the crime and has remained in custody ever since.
We're going to take a look at the background of the accused murderer and see how he's facing serious charges for his alleged actions.
Rodriguez Was A Chicago-Based Administrative Specialist
A LinkedIn page apparently belonging to Rodriguez was found shortly after the shooting, and he was listed as a Profiles Administration Specialist for the American Osteopathic Information Association.
The suspect also served as an Oral History Researcher for the History Makers, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the oral histories of the African American community.
An archived version of the organization's official website showed Rodriguez had been involved with the nonprofit since 2023, and also listed him as born and raised in Chicago.
He reportedly holds a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Illinois at Chicago and worked as a content writer in the tech industry.
He Was Involved With Various Political Causes
Rodriguez was involved with various political causes prior to the shooting, and he took part in a demonstration in front of former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel's home in the city in 2017, according to the New York Times.
The accused murderer affiliated himself with the left-wing political organization Party for Socialism and Liberation, although the group has since distanced itself from Rodriguez and condemned his alleged actions.
The group posted a message on its X account claiming the murder suspect "had a brief association with one branch of the PSL that ended in 2017" and knew "of no contact with him in over 7 years."
Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling stated Rodriguez had no criminal background at the time of the shooting.
The Suspect Was Initially Mistaken As A Victim Following The Shooting
Rodriguez was initially mistaken as a victim of the shooting, and several bystanders thought he needed aid when he entered the museum following the attack, according to the Associated Press.
However, an FBI affidavit indicated the suspected shooter allegedly stated he "did it for Palestine, I did it for Gaza" when asked about the event.
Rodriguez reportedly then pulled out a red keffiyeh -- a patterned scarf worn by various communities in the Middle East -- after police arrived at the scene of the attack.
The accused murderer was seen yelling "Free Palestine" as he was being arrested following the shooting.
Rodriguez Is Facing Serious Charges For His Alleged Actions
Several sources claimed the Justice Department is seeking to indict Rodriguez on federal hate crime charges, according to CNN.
One source indicated the indictment is likely to include special findings for capital punishment, allowing the Department to seek the death penalty.
The grand jury has reportedly heard several weeks of testimony from various witnesses of the incident, as well as acquaintances and family members of Rodriguez.
The accused murderer -- who's currently charged with first-degree murder, using a firearm to commit murder, murdering foreign officials, and using a firearm during a violent crime -- has not yet entered a formal plea.

The athlete revealed he'd made the decision to commit early to Ohio State University in January 2024 at the All-American Bowl, according to Bleacher Report.
Although Sanchez had plans to visit both Alabama and LSU, he cancelled the trips ... saying he felt Ohio State was "the only team showing true love."

How Football Player Dakorien Moore Committed To Two Universities
The prospects for the Oregon Ducks' 2025 season became much more interesting in July 2024, when 5-star prospect Dakorien Moore officially committed to playing for the team.
The thing is, the wide receiver's plans to attend the storied institution almost didn't come to fruition, as he committed to another college before making a hard left turn and pledging to head to the West Coast.
We're going to check out how the athlete committed to -- then decommitted from -- one school before finding his ideal football program.
Dakorien Was A Dual-Threat Athlete In High School
Moore attended Duncanville High School in Duncanville, Texas, and he debuted on its varsity football squad as a freshman, according to 247Sports.
He remained with the institution for the length of his high school career, and he helped lead Duncanville to a 14-1 record at the end of his senior year.
Moore finished out his final high school season, during which Duncanville made it to the Texas 6A D-I state semifinals with 204 catches and 4,113 yards.
Oh, and the athlete was also involved with his high school's track and field program, and he competed in several events, including the 100-meter dash and the long jump.
Moore Was Courted By Several Schools
Moore's athletic accomplishments garnered him plenty of attention from various schools and universities, and he received his first offer from the University of Kansas in 2020.
Several other institutions -- including the University of Southern California, Michigan State and Purdue University -- extended offers to the athlete while he was still in high school.
Moore appeared to have his path set in August 2023, when he committed to play for Louisiana State University, according to ESPN.
The athlete explained, as he was "real big on communication and building relationships," he felt LSU had done the best job of establishing a connection with him ... which led to his decision to commit to the institution.
Dakorien Changed His Mind About Playing for LSU
The thing is, Moore changed his mind in May 2024, when he decided to decommit to LSU in a shocking career move.
The athlete issued a statement on his X account at the time to let his fans know about the decision, and he expressed he would "always hold love for the entire LSU family" in his message.
Moore waited for two months before announcing he'd decided to commit to the University of Oregon in July 2024, according to ESPN.
The wide receiver also helped Oregon recruit 4-star receiver Jalen Lott that same month, according to Sports Illustrated -- how's that for a show of gratitude?!

How Jonah Williams Established Himself As A Dual-Threat Athlete
The sports world's seen plenty of great athletes come out of the University of Texas over the years, but the institution's only had a select few dual threats throughout its history. Dual threats can refer to an athlete who excels at two aspects of the game, like running and passing -- or in Jonah Williams' case, a player who dominates in two separate sports.
The Longhorns just debuted the team's newest dual-threat athlete, who's garnered much attention for his work on the diamond and gridiron.
We're going to take a look at the college athlete's background and see how he's already become notable within the University of Texas fanbase.
Williams Received Offers From Several Colleges Before Deciding on The University of Texas
Williams -- who graduated early from Ball High School in his hometown of Galveston, Texas -- committed to play football for the University of Texas in August 2024, according to ESPN.
The athlete had been courted by institutions like USC, the University of Oregon, and LSU before deciding to remain in his home state.
It was reported Williams was planning on splitting his time between the school's baseball and football programs ... in addition to pursuing a degree in sports management.
The dual-threat told ESPN he'd settled on the University of Texas because of the opportunities "with life after football" he'd be able to achieve through his affiliation with the school.
He's Had to Work Out a Balance Between the Football and Baseball Squads
Upon enrolling at the University of Texas, Williams was faced with balancing his interests in both football and baseball, as well as managing the expectations of both of his coaches, football coach Steve Sarkisian and baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle.
As baseball season came first for Williams, Sarkisian encouraged the athlete to head to the diamond first ... and Schlossnagle, who heads the squad, told Longhorns Wire the football coach was "super supportive" of the athlete's participation on the team.
Sarkisian apparently told the dual-threat to spend time with the football squad when he was able, while focusing on building a profile for himself on the baseball team.
Jonah's already made an impression with the institution's football personnel as well, and the school's defensive coordinator, Pete Kwiatkowski -- who Williams will play under as a defensive back -- declared he "couldn't be happier" to work with the athlete.
Williams Garnered Controversy for His On-Field Actions in May 2025
Although Williams has earned himself a fair amount of press for his two-sport ambitions, he garnered criticism for his on-field actions during a baseball game against the University of Florida in May 2025, according to Longhorns Wire.
The Longhorns were down 8-1 at the bottom of the 7th inning when the athlete stepped up to bat, and his animated reactions to every pitch were widely criticized across social media.
Williams was eventually walked, although he chose to toss his bat to the side and nodded his head as he made his way toward first base -- where he exchanged words with the first baseman, and the two players had to be separated.
Schlossnagle later spoke about Williams' "energy and his competitiveness" on the baseball field, and claimed the athlete was "not doing anything to show anybody up" and "really wants to win that bad."

Why Football Star Jahkeem Stewart Cut His High School Career Short
There's plenty of freshmen out there getting fans excited for the coming college football season, and Jahkeem Stewart's way up there on that list.
The defensive lineman landed his fair share of achievements over the course of his high school career -- which ended up being much shorter than anyone expected!
We're going to take a look into the college athlete's background and see what he's got planned for his future in football.
Jakheem Moved In With His Trainer When He Was In High School
Stewart was born and raised in Reserve, Louisiana, located roughly 30 miles north of New Orleans, and began playing football early on in his life.
The athlete grew to 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighed 340 pounds when he was in 6th grade, according to ESPN ... that's also when he began working with trainer Clyde Alexander.
Stewart's trainer stepped in when the football player's family home was destroyed by Hurricane Ida in 2021, and he allowed the student athlete to move in with him. He dropped 60 pounds right away, ESPN reports. He now stands 6-foot-6 and weighs around 270 pounds.
The athlete enrolled at St. Augustine High School in 2022 ... although the institution's transfer rules kept him from playing varsity-level football as a freshman.
Stewart's High School Football Career Ended Early
Stewart was ruled eligible to play for St. Augustine his sophomore year, and he racked up 85 tackles and 20 sacks.
He ended up transferring out of St. Augustine to Edna Karr High School in an effort to make him eligible to play at the collegiate level at a faster rate, after St. Augustine denied his request to reclassify him to the 2025 class. After he was reclassifed he became eligible for the early college-football signing period.
Stewart didn't appear too beat up by the switch, and told ESPN the skills he learned at his first high school "helped me become a way better man than I was going in there."
He later spoke about the success of his high school football career, stating "every time I stepped on the field -- it was havoc."
The Athlete Signed On To Play For USC
Stewart, a top recruit during his time in high school, received numerous offers to play at various institutions, including LSU, Ohio State, and the University of Oregon.
The defensive lineman eventually accepted an offer from the University of Southern California, where he's set to join their defensive line.
Stewart's not the only 5-star recruit who pledged to the institution, as he'll be joined by quarterback Husan Longstreet.
Stewart told ESPN he'd be able to prove his worth "when people see me go get 10-plus sacks" upon starting his college football career.

How Montana Shooting Suspect Michael Paul Brown Became The Target Of A Manhunt
The small town of Anaconda, Montana, was rocked to its core on August 1, 2025, when a gunman entered The Owl Bar and opened fire, killing several people.
Local authorities have since identified the suspect as Michael Paul Brown, who fled the scene of the crime and is believed to be hiding from the law.
We're going to take a look into the background of the suspected gunman and see what authorities have done in the wake of the shooting.
Brown's An Army Veteran And Has Dealt With Mental Issues
Brown, who lived next door to The Owl Bar, where he was apparently a regular, served in the U.S. Army for several years, and he departed the armed forces with the rank of sergeant in 2009, according to NBC News.
The murder suspect served as an armor crewman from 2001 to 2005, was deployed to Iraq for just over a year, leaving in March 2005, and he was part of the Montana National Guard from April 2006 until March 2009.
Montana bar owner Shane Charles said Brown had dealt with post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as "mental health problems," and described the veteran as "a great guy when he was on his meds."
Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen said the murder suspect has a criminal record.
Four People Were Killed In The Shooting
Authorities allege Brown entered The Owl Bar at around 10:30 AM Mountain Time and opened fire with a rifle, then fled the scene in a white pickup truck.
Three patrons and a bartender, ranging in age from 59 to 74, were shot and killed ... Knudsen said the suspect "likely" knew the victims of the attack.
Brown then allegedly got rid of his clothing and other belongings before getting new clothing from a stolen vehicle that contained camping equipment.
Local authorities later released a photo showing the suspect apparently leaving the scene of the incident, dressed only in a pair of boxers, taken before he switched vehicles.
Brown's Believed To Be Hiding In The Mountains
Authorities later located the vehicle Brown ... and Knudsen expressed he was "very likely up in the mountains, hiding in the timber, in the cover somewhere."
Several agencies are searching for the suspect, and a $7,500 reward has been offered by the U.S Marshals Service for any information that could lead to his arrest, according to USA Today.
Residents of Anaconda and surrounding communities were initially advised to stay inside and remain on alert, according to The Associated Press.
Knudsen said while the possibility of Brown having died by suicide had been brought up, authorities are operating under the impression he is "alive, well, armed and extremely dangerous."

Griner and Baylor University alum Cherelle eventually reconnected, and they got engaged in August 2018, tying the knot the following June.
Cherelle and Brittney later started a family with the birth of their son Bash, who arrived in July 2024.

The professional athlete later pleaded guilty to bringing less than a gram of cannabis oil into the country ... and although she claimed she'd done so unintentionally, she was sentenced to nine years in prison.
Cherelle expressed she was "hopeless" at times while her spouse was detained, in an interview with People -- although she later said she never had to "completely give up hope" about her wife's situation.

The professional football player spent a total of seven seasons in the NFL as a center, and he played for several teams, including the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens.
Grasu was most recently with the Las Vegas Raiders, where he was traded in 2021 and remained until 2023.

How Paul Skenes' Girlfriend Livvy Dunne Made Her Millions
Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes has made a career of striking out batters left and right -- but it looks like he hit a home run with his girlfriend, Livvy Dunne!
The athlete and the influencer have been together for a few years now, and they've become pretty comfortable showing their affection in public ... like when he tied her lace-up heel right before the 2025 MLB All-Star Game.
We're going to check out what the social media figure was up to before she met the pro athlete ... and see what brought them together.
Livvy Was A Gymnast At LSU
Dunne's been a gymnast for several years, and she was formerly a member of the U.S. Junior National Gymnastics Team.
She later joined Louisiana State University's gymnastics team in 2020, and she helped her teammates earn the 2024 NCAA Women's Gymnastics National Championship title.
Dunne's popularity can partially be attributed to the NCAA's Name, Image and Likeness rule, which was implemented in 2021 and lets college athletes participate in sponsorships and make endorsements.
The former college athlete really caught the wave at the right time -- and she's raked in a cool $4.1 million through her collaborations with various companies, according to On3.
She's Been An Influencer Since Her College Days
Dunne began her career as an influencer after the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and earned herself several million followers on TikTok before she'd even started college.
Although she was initially faced with "learning curves" and "had to learn on my own how to navigate" her social media fame, according to ESPN, she evidently figured out a solid rhythm, because she was featured on the Forbes 30 Under 30 and TIME100 Creators lists.
The influencer has since linked up with content creator platform Passes -- in what was described as a "multi-million-dollar deal," according to Sports Illustrated -- which allows her to create exclusive content for fans.
Oh yeah, and she was featured as one of the cover models for the 2025 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue ... after being included in the annual publication in both 2023 and 2024, of course.
Livvy And Paul Met In College
Dunne and Skenes met while they were both attending LSU, and her fans began speculating about the state of their relationship after she was spotted wearing a jersey with his name on it in a video shared on her TikTok account in 2023.
The happy couple went public with their relationship that August, and they've been spotted on plenty of red carpets -- and cute dates, naturally -- ever since then.
The influencer opened up about her romance with Skenes in an interview with People, where she expressed neither she nor her boyfriend would "restrict each other from doing things" in their respective professional lives.
Dunne added, while she understood her boyfriend was "always on the go," she's been "trying to go to as many baseball games as I can."

How Napheesa Collier Built A League With Her Husband Alex Bazzell
WNBA star Napheesa Collier's made plenty of strides on the court as the Minnesota Lynx's power forward ... and a large part of her success story involves her husband, Alex Bazzell.
The basketball player and her spouse have been together for several years, and their personal connection's carried over to their professional lives as well.
We're going to check out how the athlete and her partner started a family together ... and how they're working on creating a lasting legacy within the sports world.
Alex and Napheesa Met When She Was in High School
Bazzell and Collier's love story goes way, way back, because he met the athlete during her senior year of high school, according to People.
The sports industry figure and the athlete evidently stayed in touch afterward, because he acted as her trainer when she was a student athlete at the University of Connecticut.
The pair began dating when she was a junior in college, and Bazzell popped the big question in October 2019.
You know that old rhyme, first comes love, then comes marriage? That doesn't really apply in this case ... because the couple welcomed their daughter Mila in May 2022 before they tied the knot that October.
Bazzell's Worked With Some of the Biggest Names in Basketball
Remember how we said Bazzell trained Collier when she was in college? Turns out, she's not the only person he's trained over the years -- do the names Carmelo Anthony or Kyrie Irving ring any bells?
The sports executive was associated with Kobe Bryant, as well as his daughter Gianna -- who he trained -- and he told People the Los Angeles Lakers star was "the biggest mentor I've had."
Bazzell said the late athlete showed him how to remove the "pressure" for his daughter to follow in the footsteps of her parents and pursue an athletic career.
Oh, and he's spent a little bit of time on the court as well, as he briefly played professional basketball in Germany, according to his LinkedIn.
Alex and Napheesa Work Together for the Unrivaled League
On top of their personal connection, Bazzell and Collier are professionally involved, as they've both worked on the development of the Unrivaled women's basketball league.
Collier co-founded the league alongside fellow WNBA star Breanna Stewart, and Unrivaled serves as a venue for professional female basketball players to play the sport in the offseason.
Bazzell, who serves as the league's president, provided a statement to CNBC Sport, saying the league would "fill a gap in the calendar" for numerous athletes, and described Unrivaled as "extending the runway of professional basketball."
The league offers its players both equity and high salary opportunities, and Collier said its financial setup would help create "generational wealth" for female athletes.
