She was a long shot to make it this far, but Fiona the hippo turned 1 year old Wednesday ... and the Cincinnati Zoo is having a phat fat celebration!

You'll recall, Fiona was born 6 weeks premature and weighed a mere 29 pounds -- a record for any hippo born in captivity. The good news is she's a very healthy 600 pounds one year later.

Naturally, Fi got a cake for her bday. No ice cream cake though ... strictly fruits and veggies, but she's a herbivore so it's cool. She's so damn cute, we'd almost forget the whole thing about hippos being seriously deadly animals. Almost.

Zayn Malik didn't let a porn site's tweet rub him the wrong way ... oh, far from it.

The "Pillowtalk" singer was leaving Gigi's apartment Wednesday in NYC where a bunch of photogs were stationed and had just a few quick seconds to get him to respond to Pornhub's birthday tweet.

Betty's been one of Hollywood's hardest working leading ladies for years, but today she's taking it easy. A rep for the TV legend tells us ... Betty's relaxing Wednesday for her bday and plans on having a low-key dinner tonight at a friend's house.

As you'll recall ... White worked on her birthday when she turned 95, prepping for a guest spot on the sitcom "Young & Hungry." No such projects this time around, but we're told she's in great health and as spry as ever.

NHL superstar Connor McDavid is FINALLY legally allowed to drink in America ... and he celebrated by blowing it out at a Vegas nightclub -- with the guys from The Chainsmokers.

The Edmonton Oilers captain hit up XS Nightclub in the Encore hours after beating the Vegas Golden Knights in an overtime thriller ... and got the V.I.P. treatment with a massive welcoming party.
