Angelina Jolie is weighing in on President Trump's immigration ban and accusing him of ignoring facts about how refugees get into the U.S.

Angelina says, "It is simply not true that our borders are overrun or that refugees are admitted to the United States without close scrutiny." In an op-ed for the New York Times, she adds ... refugees are subject to the "highest level of screening of any category of traveler to the United States."

Of course, Angelina works with the UN's High Commissioner for Refugees. She's also adopted 3 children born outside the country. She says she understands security from terrorism is of the utmost importance, but thinks "our response must be measured and should be based on facts, not fear."

She never mentions Trump by name, but says she'd want any president to work with people of all faiths around the world to make all nations more secure.

The man who shot and killed NFL player Joe McKnight has been indicted for 2nd degree murder ... officials in Louisiana announced.

Ronald Gasser, 55, was arrested on December 5 and booked for manslaughter ... following a road rage incident that led to the death of the former USC star.

Now, after further investigation by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office in collaboration with the D.A., a grand jury has hit Gasser with the more serious charge of 2nd degree murder.

As a result of the indictment, the judge raised Gasser's bond from $500K to $750k.

President Trump is reportedly willing to lend Mexico a hand with all its "bad hombres" ... by sending U.S. troops down there.

According to the AP ... Trump told Mexican Prez Pena Nieto he wasn't doing enough to stop criminals and added, "I think your military is scared. Our military isn't, so I just might send them down to take care of it."

The clear threat came during a Friday phone call ... according to the AP, which says it has a transcript of the call. The report says nothing about Nieto's reaction. A Mexican media outlet also reported about the call, and said it was humiliating to Nieto.

Mexico's Foreign Affairs dept. is denying the report.

Indianapolis Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri is hoping to be a Super Bowl hero again -- attempting to set a field goal kicking WORLD RECORD just days before the big game.

The future Hall of Famer is gunning to set a speed kicking record -- attempting to hit 20 extra points from 20 yards out in 60 seconds at the NFL Extra Points Charity Kick on Friday.

There's A LOT on the line -- if he's successful, Barclaycard has pledged to donate $15,000 to the Pat Tillman Foundation.

The feat would also go down as a Guinness World Record.

Ex-MMA fighter Jason "Mayhem" Miller is officially off the hook in his domestic violence case -- after a jury found him NOT GUILTY of beating up his ex-girlfriend.

The trial was intense -- with Miller acknowledging he got into multiple physical altercations with his ex, Anna Stabile ... a MMA fighter he had been training.

In fact, Miller testified in court that Stabile tried to hit him with a choke that he taught her -- but she couldn't execute the move because her legwork was "sloppy."

He also claimed the two had a very bizarre and kinky sex life involving threesomes, golden showers, choking and more.

Essentially, Miller argued that he was the real victim who was simply stuck defending himself from a trained fighter with a violent streak. The jury bought it.

It's a big deal for Miller -- he was facing more than 5 years in prison if convicted.

Bad news for Houston Texans QB Brock Osweiler -- the owner basically just said he's looking to replace his $72 million man.

When discussing Brock's underwhelming 1st season with the Texans, owner Bob McNair said, "We need better performance out of the position. We'll probably look at a young QB as we go into draft."

President Trump bolted from the White House Wednesday afternoon aboard Marine One to make a trip that was unannounced, and shocked the Press Corps -- but turns out it's for a very somber occasion.

The President was with Ivanka Trump when he left, and reporters had no idea where he was going. About 20 minutes after he lifted off in the chopper ... the White House revealed he was flying to Dover Air Force Base to greet the plane bringing back the remains of Chief Special Warfare Operator William "Ryan" Owens.

Owens, reportedly a Navy SEAL, died during a counterterrorism raid in Yemen. He is the first solider killed under the Trump administration.

Matt Barnes turned himself in to police Wednesday to face an assault charge stemming from a NYC nightclub brawl back in December ... law enforcement confirms.

Barnes was cited for misdemeanor assault for allegedly getting violent with a woman at Avenue nightclub in the early hours of Dec. 5th. The NY Post first reported Barnes' surrender.

TMZ Sports broke the story ... Barnes claimed he was merely defending himself when all hell broke loose inside. The alleged victim claims Barnes choked her.

Barnes was at the club with his Sacramento Kings teammate, DeMarcus Cousins, that night. He was not charged with a crime.

Allman Brothers drummer Butch Trucks pulled the trigger on a handgun and killed himself while his wife frantically dialed 911.

The recording of the call was just released, and you can hear Melinda Trucks screaming immediately after what sounds like the fatal gunshot. She tells the operator he used a pistol.

Trucks, named one of the 100 greatest drummers by Rolling Stone, died January 24 at home in West Palm Beach. He was pronounced dead on the scene once paramedics arrived.

Butch was 69.

Russell Wilson is no Tom Brady ... in the sense that he's definitely NOT backing Donald Trump and predicts POTUS won't last 4 years in office.

The Seahawks QB was doing Facebook Live from a barber shop when he started going off on Trump -- saying he's seen way too much "negativity" since #45 took office.

Then he takes this shot -- "I don't even know if he's gonna be able to last 4 years in my opinion."

Jason Hoppy screamed, "I will destroy you" at Bethenny Frankel outside their daughter's school ... prompting NYPD to bust him for harassing and stalking her.

Bethenny's ex allegedly went off on her earlier this month at 6-year-old Bryn's school in Manhattan. According to police, Bethenny reported the incident on January 17 ... and also told police Hoppy was bombarding her with hundreds of abusive emails, phone and FaceTime calls.

According to the complaint ... Hoppy approached Bethenny and her boyfriend that morning and said, "There's nothing you can do to stop me. You'll be sorry. You've been warned ... she's pure evil."

Cops arrested him Friday afternoon at his NYC apartment.

According to the NYPost, she said Hoppy has been on the warpath since November.

Asia frontman John Wetton died Tuesday morning in his sleep after battling cancer ... according to the band.

Wetton was a fixture in the '70s and '80s British rock scene, playing with bands like King Crimson, Roxy Music, and Uriah Heep -- but his biggest popularity came when he formed the supergroup, Asia, in 1981. The group is best known for its huge hits "Heat of the Moment" and "Only Time Will Tell."

Wetton eventually left the group and worked on solo projects, but later returned for some of their final albums. He was 67.

Big step for J.J. Watt ... the NFL superstar FINALLY went public with his relationship with his pro soccer star girlfriend -- by posting a couply picture on Instagram!

Obviously, this is a big deal.

Watt and pro soccer star Kealia Ohai have been dating for months -- but kept things extremely under wraps. No public outings. No Man Crush Monday or Woman Crush Wednesday posts. Nothing.

Until Tuesday ... when Watt posted a photo of the two during a recent beach outing and wished Ohai a happy birthday.

"Happy Birthday beautiful. May this be your best year yet! @kealiamae."

Watt has 2.5 million followers ... so, it's kind of like their coming out party.

By the way, Kealia also happens to be the sister-in-law of his Texans teammate, Brian Cushing -- so you can probably understand why Watt was being extra careful about how he handled the whole situation.

Oprah Winfrey has just signed a deal with "60 Minutes," and it's sure looking like she's making CBS her second home.

Winfrey will become a special contributor on the long-running news mag. She started as a local reporter in Baltimore before beelining it for Chicago where she became queen of the world in talk.

Oprah's role will be similar to Anderson Cooper, who does about 10 segments per season for "60 Minutes."

It's interesting ... she hosted a CBS special on Michelle Obama last month, and she appears on "CBS This Morning" with best pal Gayle King.

She was also on the CBS lot in L.A. a few days ago.
