McPhee Hits the Kat-walk

Published | Updated

Katharine McPhee traded the "American Idol" stage for the fashion runway at Dina Bar-El's show on Tuesday during LA Fashion Week.

McPhee dazzled the crowd as she pranced down the catwalk with Bar-El at her side, while her rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" played in the background during the finale of the show.

The McPheever was in top form after a tumultuous summer which saw the songbird fracture her foot, suffer from bouts of bronchitis and laryngitis and reveal she was once bulimic.

Kat glowed in a beige gown which featured a beaded halter empire waist and floating chiffon bottom.

McPhee and Bar-El have been friends ever since the designer created gowns for the budding popstar during "American Idol."

When not channeling her inner supermodel, Katharine has been busy recording her debut album which is due out in November 28.

"Entourage's" Lloyd Moons the Fashion World

Published | Updated

Rex Lee, who plays "Lloyd" on Entourage, participated in a celebrity fashion show called "Dressed to Kilt." Rex didn't wear too much under his little scottish skirt -- we know because he showed us.

When he got to the end of the runway, the two models he was with lifted his kilt, bared his posterior and gave the actor a spank.

The other moon belongs to Scottish actor Hamish Linklater, who gave a quick flash before leaving the stage. The show was sponsored by Johnnie Walker.

LA Fashion Weak

Published | Updated

Los Angeles Fashion Week kicked off this weekend and not even the D-list showed up.

While big name fashionistas like Natalie Portman, Nicole Kidman and Scarlett Johansson routinely turn up to fashion week in NY, Paris and Milan, the "celebrities" at Sunday's Spring 2007 shows looked more like a "Surreal Life" casting call.

Able only to attract attendees like Jason Davis, Greasy Bear's plus size brother, Paris Hilton's BFF Caroline D'Amore, and K-Fed's ex Shar Jackson, not counting Oscar night, LA has a long way to go before it's considered a true fashion capitol.

And while top notch designers like Gucci, Versace and Dolce & Gabbana do not show in LA (LA usually spotlights new up and coming talent), something must really be wrong if even consummate party girls like Tara Reid, Lindsay and Paris don't bother to show up.

Looks like the powers that be should consider moving Fashion Week to Hyde.

O & Bono's Shopping Spree

Published | Updated

When Oprah Winfrey and Bono team up, you just know it's for something big.

The two celeb humanitarians hit up Michigan Avenue in Chicago and zipped in and out of stores selling Product (RED) merchandise - an effort benefiting the fight against AIDS in Africa.

Apple, Gap, Motorola and Emporio Armani have joined the cause, which is backed by Bobby Shriver and the U2 frontman. "What's great about (RED) is I'm not asking you to give money or write a check or give to charity," says Bono, "I'm asking you to buy (RED) products and the companies who make those products will be making the checks, that's so cool."

The products, all of which are the color of the campaign name, include iPods, RazR phones and clothing.

Bono will appear on Oprah's talk show today to talk more about the U.S. launch of (RED).

K-Fed: Buy My Clothes, Yo

Published | Updated

Kevin Federline hosted a party at Kitson Men for the clothing line he's the spokesmodel for, Five Star Vintage. K-Fed pulled up in his silver Ferrari, sans Britney, and rushed passed the press waiting outside.

Once inside, K-Fed posed with a few baby t-shirts he had picked out (one read "Pooparazzi") while a DJ played tracks from his new album -- which happens to come out on Halloween. Insert your own "trick or treat" joke here.

Also, and we don't model for any clothing lines or anything, but when you do an event for a clothing company, shouldn't you show up in something a little nicer than a white t-shirt?

As for the celebrity turnout, there was, um ... the guy who played Marcia Cross' gay son's boyfriend on "Desperate Housewives." Does that count?

Wearing John Malkovich

Published | Updated

John Malkovich is a much-revered actor, but did you know he also designs clothes?

While everyone from J.Lo to Jaclyn Smith have fashion lines, many are not aware the Oscar winner started a clothing company called Mrs. Mudd in 2003 and now designs a menswear collection entitled Uncle Kimono.

Uncle Kimono features sweaters, hats, ties, t-shirts and even made to order suits.

Malkovich's creations are inspired by characters he's played in movies, political figures, Beatles songs and even Martha Stewart!

John designed a "Free Martha" chocolate brown boiled wool coat that retails for $1665. Malkovich created what he said was "an elegant coat to wear in front of the courthouse during the Martha Stewart trial." Now that's a 'good thing!'

Celeb fans of Uncle Kimono include Johnny Depp and Javier Bardem.

A portion of sales from Malkovich's clothing line benefits the performing arts and a selected group of playhouses across the world.

Nicole Richie Kate Moss Wannabe?

Published | Updated

The sunglasses. The shorts. The boy toy. Seems Nicole Richie has a brand new fashion influence these days, legendary supermodel Kate Moss.

Nicole was spotted cruising the streets of Beverly Hills yesterday with a new mystery man, who bears a very close resemblance to Kate's sweetheart, rocker Pete Doherty. Maybe Nicole is hoping the mimicry will land her on the same stellar career path as her hero ... minus the crazy drug scandals, of course.

'Desperate' For Attention?

Published | Updated

Nicollette Sheridan and Michael Bolton were swarmed by photogs yesterday, which begged the question, who actually cares about them to warrant such attention?

After shopping at the new kitson Men store (sure to be a new paparazzi staple), the two emerged in "shock" at the number of photogs waiting for them, Nicollette exclaiming, "Oh my God, you guys are multiplying!"

The entourage of shutterbugs got so large they appeared to form a parade around the couple as they walked down Roberston Blvd., in the middle of the actual street.

While we understand a few shots of the happy couple may be worth some money, is it really necessary to form a moving wall in front of them, taking their picture for a good 10 minutes? Are there really that many Michael Bolton fans still? We think not.

Nic's Tattoo Fix

Published | Updated

How many tattoos does Nicole Richie have?

Nicole Richie sports nine (at least) tattoos on her body, Stephanie. The favorite seems to be this rosary she had tattooed around her ankle. She also has a spider-shaped one on her lower stomach, as well as a pair of ballerina slippers she got in honor of the song her father, Lionel Richie, wrote for her. (For you young'ins, that song was "Ballerina Girl.")

Make sure not to miss out on Nicole's fab photo gallery!

Piven, Spade and Lovitz's SuperEXcellent Night

Published | Updated

With the opening of Kitson Men, male celebs are getting to experience the joys of a photographed shopping trip just like Lindsay, Paris and Nicole have enjoyed for years.

On Wednesday, metrosexuals (remember that word?) like Jeremy Piven and, er, Jon Lovitz came out for the launch of Krista Allen's, the actress formerly known as George Clooney's girlfriend, t-shirt line called SuperEXcellent at the brand new Kitson Men shop.

Lovitz's former "SNL" co-star David Spade, who, believe it or not, used to date Krista as well, and Chris Farley's brother were also on hand for the fashion frenzy.

Julia Roberts' Family Outing

Published | Updated

Forget Prada, Gucci or Fendi. Julia Roberts and husband Danny Moder are all about the very trendy baby bags.

The happy couple made a trip out to a friend's beach house in Malibu on Sunday with their twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, and with them brought a bunch of day luggage. Julia has been laying low these days and spending time with her family after opting not to star in "Ocean's 13."

With twins just about to hit those terrible twos, we're guessing those bags are filled with lots of toys to keep their little ones occupied.

Paltrow Wears a Bag, er, Sweatshirt Over Her Head

The normally camera-friendly Gwyneth Paltrow decided to cover up her golden locks and hide behind a sweatshirt and umbrella as she made her way inside LAX yesterday.

Fortunately for Gwyneth the Oscar winner didn't run into anyone while her vision was- how you say- impaired.

Kate Goes From Supermodel to Super Designer

Published | Updated

Kate Moss' supercareer keeps on getting better and better.

After appearing in 14 advertising campaigns for everyone from Versace to Calvin Klein to Burberry this year, Kate is reportedly set to design outfits for the UK retailer Topshop. Rehab never looked so good!

While Kate may be used to wearing clothes from high end designers, Topshop has more in common with Gap than Gucci.

But that shouldn't be a problem for the fashion icon. Last week, Kate set off a shopping frenzy when she was photographed carrying a $5 bag from a drugstore chain. The bargain bin Balenciaga quickly sold out across England.

And Moss' lack of design experience shouldn't be a hindrance either, because, "Project Runway" be damned, that hasn't stopped fellow fashionistas like Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani and Diddy from succeeding in the biz.

So as we await to see what the House of Moss will create, let's just hope the designs come in sizes other than small, petite and waif.
