The only ripples in the pool with Orlando Bloom are on his newly-chiseled body ... and his workout is no joke.

A buff Bloom hit an L.A. pool Thursday where he pumped some serious iron in-between laps ... it's a new thing -- swimming and weights.

The next "Big Brother" HoH could be a guy from A&M ... 'cause one of the contestants is a former Aggies football player -- who also happens to have a pretty insane physique.

The ex-football player is 23-year-old Clay Honeycutt -- a former defensive back for Texas A&M who graduated in 2014.

We spoke with Clay's dad Lynn -- who also played for the Aggies -- and he told us he thinks Clay's football background will give him an edge on the competition.

"There's a wide diversity of people in the cast and football will help him because he has always gotten along with different groups of people. He's had all kinds of different roommates, so I think that will help him."

One of those people was Johnny Manziel ... who played at A&M from 2011 to 2013.

U.S. soccer superstar Hope Solo WENT OFF on police during her 2014 domestic violence arrest ... reportedly telling a cop, "You're such a bitch. You're scared of me because you know that if the handcuffs were off I'd kick your ass."

It's all part of new police documents unearthed by ESPN which stem from Solo's 2014 domestic violence arrest in Seattle ... when she allegedly attacked family members at her half-sister's home.

According to the docs, Solo appeared to be wasted when she was taken into custody -- and was screaming profanities at the arresting officers.

Cops say Solo -- who demanded to be called Mrs. Stevens (she's married to ex-NFL star Jerramy Stevens) -- repeatedly insulted officers ... and when one cop asked her to remove her necklace she told him "that the necklace was worth more than he makes in a year"

The report also says, "During the fingerprinting of Mrs. Stevens she made numerous statements that I was not worth anything and should be proud to have such authority."

According to ESPN's "Outside the Lines," Solo also suggested that two of the jailers were having sex ... and called another officer a "14-year-old boy."

When asked for comment about Solo's behavior, Hope's lawyer told ESPN, "Any of us would be upset at being wrongly arrested." He also claims Solo was not drunk, she was concussed and her behavior was consistent with someone who suffered a "significant head injury."

As for the domestic violence allegations, the case was initially dismissed ... but prosecutors filed an appeal ... and are scheduled to file their argument by July 13th.

Solo has previously denied attacking her 17-year-old nephew -- and said she was the real victim during the 2014 incident.

But the 911 call from the night in question paints a different story, with the caller telling the operator that Solo was "f**king beating people up."

The Dodgers got off to a rough start Saturday night ... when the team's celebrity singer botched the "Star Spangled Banner."

Minnie Driver -- who happens to be from England -- did the honors before the game at Dodgers Stadium ... but screwed up the lyrics TWICE, despite the fact the correct words appeared on a giant stadium screen in center field.

Of course, Minnie's not the first person to screw up the lyrics ... just ask Christina Aguilera, who happened to make her lyrical mistake at the friggin Super Bowl!!

TV mega-mogul Byron Allen trashed President Obama Saturday night, essentially calling him an Uncle Tom, accusing him of not acting "like a black man."

Allen, a major TV producer who often programs for minority audiences, said he was outraged Obama referred to the Baltimore rioters as "thugs."

Allen warned Obama, "remember who you are," telling him, "It's OK to be President and a black man."

And then Allen goes for the jugular, saying Obama is a "white President in black face."

So we gotta ask ...
