Richard Carpenter has filed a lawsuit against 2 music companies he claims ripped him off in the royalties over Carpenters tunes, and he's brought Karen into the legal action as well.

Richard and Karen Carpenter's estate claim Universal Music Group and A&M Records have shut them out of profits for iTunes and other online sales distributors.

It's a whole new world out there with digital downloads, and Richard claims Universal and A&M are not giving artists their fair cut. He goes on to say the courts have agreed with him -- notably in a case involving Eminem -- and now he says it's time to pay up.

Richard and Karen's estate have crunched the numbers, and they want more than $2 million.

Jan. 12th -- Shane's girlfriend tells TMZ Sports she is NOT planning on pressing charges and insists the boxer did not attack her.

Here's her explanation of the incident -- "We were fighting about my birthday, and he was moving me out of his way so he could leave and end the argument. AS he pushed me aside I fell over a toy that was in the hallway where we were. I had no bruise or injury at all."

10:50 AM PT -- Shane tells TMZ Sports he did NOTHING wrong. He says the two had a verbal argument and she "tripped."

He adds, "I didn't push her."

"She tripped and she didn't have any injuries. We were just yelling."

Boxing star "Sugar" Shane Mosley is being investigated for an alleged domestic violence incident after his girlfriend told police he roughed her up this weekend ... TMZ Sports has learned.

Law enforcement sources confirm cops were called to an L.A. home just after midnight on Sunday morning. When they arrived to the scene, 45-year-old Shane was not there.

The accuser told cops she and Shane had been arguing earlier in the night -- but things escalated and Shane pushed her.

The woman claimed she suffered minor injuries and complained of pain. We're told cops are investigating the incident.

10:50 AM PT -- Mason's attorney entered a not guilty plea on the running back's behalf this morning.

Ex-NFL running back Tre Mason was arrested in Palm Beach, Florida on Tuesday stemming from a police chase in which the RB fled from cops on an ATV.

TMZ Sports broke the story ... cops tried to stop Mason on July 27th when they saw him riding the vehicle in a prohibited area. Instead of pulling over, Mason gave chase.

Cops tracked Mason back to his family home and spoke with his mother who told officers Tre was mentally ill and blamed the head shots he took during his football career.

A warrant was issued for Mason's arrest for felony fleeing from police at a high speed and last night they finally arrested the 23-year-old.

Mason's bond was set at $5,000 -- which he posted immediately.

Kim Kardashian won't be wearing that $4 million stolen ring anytime soon -- or ever for that matter -- because authorities have told her there's virtually no chance of retrieving it.

Sources close to the investigation tell us Kim's legal team has been briefed by Parisian cops on the big break in the robbery case -- rounding up 17 suspects -- and they have made it clear the only way she'll ever see the bling again is in photos.

The cops say most diamonds the size of Kim's are immediately shipped off to Antwerp's diamond district in Belgium and then quickly disappear.

TMZ broke the story -- Kim submitted an insurance claim after the robbery listing her 20 carat emerald cut stone diamond ring at $4 million -- in total, 13 items totaling $5.6 mil were stolen.

Josh Brown's marriage to the woman he admittedly abused is finally over -- and he's going to be paying her A LOT of money ... this according to court docs obtained by TMZ Sports.

The docs show Molly Brown separated from the ex-New York Giants kicker on May 22, 2015 ... the same day he was arrested for domestic violence.

That charge was eventually dropped. Brown admitted to "abusing" his wife but later insisted the abuse was NOT physical.

The divorce was finally granted on Dec. 28 ... ending their 8 year marriage.

The docs show Brown has been ordered to pay $15,000 per month in spousal support to Molly for 24 months (totaling $360k). He can afford it, Brown reportedly made more than $20 million in the NFL.

As for their 6-year-old daughter, Molly gets primary custody and Josh gets visitation. He's also been ordered to pay $4,000 per month in child support.

The docs also note that Josh will continue to seek therapy for the domestic abuse issues.

Fetty Wap is serious about getting a sex tape off the Internet ... purportedly featuring him and Alexis Sky -- and he's targeted the person he thinks leaked it ... Dear Alexis, STOP!

TMZ has obtained the cease and desist letters Fetty's legal hounds fired off to Alexis and a bunch of media outlets allegedly posting the video.

Fetty's lawyers threatened Alexis this way ... "[Y]ou must IMMEDIATELY STOP the distribution and/or attempted distribution of this alleged video to any and all media outlets."

BTW ... he vows to sue her if the video doesn't disappear.

Dylann Roof -- the man convicted for the racially motivated mass murder in a South Carolina church -- was just sentenced to death.

Dylann showed little regret during his trial for murdering 9 black worshipers during Bible study at Emanuel AME Church back in June of 2015. He walked into the church and shot the churchgoers in cold blood.

Likewise, he showed zero remorse Tuesday in court ... where he represented himself and told jurors he felt like he had to kill his victims, and "I still feel like I have to do it."

The 12 person jury deliberated just 3 hours before announcing the sentencing in which Dylann repped himself.

Kim Kardashian has a new crime to deal with -- this time it's her family's DASH store that was hit, and it went down shortly after the Paris suspects got busted.

Law enforcement sources tell us a woman strolled into the Melrose Ave boutique Monday, grabbed a bunch of clothing and perfume and fled in a silver sedan. We're told the woman made off with around $1,600 in DASH gear ... and so far, cops haven't been able to locate her.

Odd coincidence -- since Paris cops announced Monday they'd arrested 17 people in connection with Kim's robbery in October.

Phaedra Parks says her ex is not only a felon ... he's slow on the uptake and she wants a judge to throw him out of divorce court.

Phaedra filed legal docs calling BS on Apollo's divorce petition. She says she filed for divorce first, and has already obtained a judgment.

It's unclear why Apollo isn't just dropping his belated divorce filing. She says he pretended not to know she filed, but now that he does, the question remains ... why not drop it?

Apollo's lawyers tell TMZ ... they are going to drop his divorce petition because the judge Phaedra's filing is inclined to undo the judgment because it was handled unfairly ... Apollo didn't have a legal team when Phaedra appeared in court and got her judgment.

His lawyers tell TMZ, the judge unfairly distributed their property in her favor, and will now give Apollo his day in court to argue what he believes is an equitable distribution of assets as well as a fair custody arrangement.

Mariah Carey's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was vandalized over the weekend ... in a much more subtle way than Donald Trump's.

A rep for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce tells us ... they called the LAPD Sunday and they gave cops a lead -- someone on Instagram claimed responsibility.

We're told it cost $1,500 to restore the star. Hollywood Historic Trust has already had it cleaned up.

Cops are on the hunt. They're pulling surveillance video. The investigation is for felony vandalism.

No word if James Otis has an alibi.

Aaron Hernandez's gun tattoos -- which he allegedly got to commemorate 2 violent crimes -- can be used against him in his double murder case ... a judge has ruled.

Prosecutors believe the ex-NFL star memorialized two violent incidents, including the 2012 double murder, by getting the weapons he used tatted on his body.

In the murder case, prosecutors believe the killer fired 5 shots from a revolver ... and believe it's no coincidence that Aaron went out and got a tat of a revolver with 5 bullets along with the words, "God Forgives."

Prosecutors also believe another tattoo of a semi-automatic pistol with a single spent shell casing commemorates the time he shot a guy in the face in 2013 with a semi-automatic pistol.

Aaron's lawyers argued that the tats should NOT be admissible -- claiming it was "rank speculation."

But the judge ruled there's too much of a connection to ignore -- and will allow prosecutors to present them as evidence in court.

Hernandez is accused of killing two people in a drive-by shooting after they accidentally bumped into him inside a Boston nightclub. He's already serving a life sentence for killing another man in 2013.

Tarek El Moussa has filed for divorce from wife Christina, but we're told they are resolved to continue their show, "Flip or Flop."

According to the divorce docs, obtained by TMZ, Tarek cites irreconcilable differences as the reason for ending his 8-year marriage.

He's asking for joint custody of their 2 kids. But this is interesting ... he wants her to pay him spousal support but wants the judge to block any move she makes to collect it from him.

A source close to the couple tells TMZ, "It's civilized, or as best it can be under the circumstances. They have to make it work if they want to continue monetizing what they do."

10:48 AM PT -- TMZ has learned Mike Vitar has been placed on an unpaid 6 month suspension from the Fire Dept.

'Sandlot' star Mike Vitar won't be doing hard time for the near-fatal Halloween attack on a college grad student.

Vitar, now a firefighter, took a deal ... pleading no contest to misdemeanor battery. He and 2 other firefighters involved were initially facing 4 years in prison for felony assault.

Vitar will have to complete 90 days of community service and take weekly anger management classes for a year. He also has to pay a $2,000 fine and TBD amount of restitution to the victim ... which will be determined in a hearing next month.

The victim was beaten so badly his pulse stopped and the same firefighters who attacked him had to revive him.

One of the firefighters is still fighting the charges.

Ex-NBA player Orien Greene -- a 2005 2nd round pick -- was arrested in Florida on Monday morning after officials say he snuck into 2 homes and rubbed a sleeping woman's butt.

Yeah ... creepy.

According to the police report obtained by TMZ Sports, the 34-year-old ex-Boston Celtics player entered the first home early in the morning and went to the master bedroom where he encountered a 56-year-old woman lying in bed.

Greene then left without further incident and went to a 2nd home across the street ... where he allegedly went to the bedroom and saw a 40-year-old woman sleeping in bed.

Greene allegedly kissed the sleeping woman on the neck and "rubbed her butt."

The woman woke up and started yelling ... Greene allegedly booked it and went to his girlfriend's house (which is in the same neighborhood).

Dennis Quaid may be overpaying his estranged wife for child and spousal support ... but then again, he might be underpaying, so everyone's quietly gone to court to try and square things up.

Turns out, Dennis and Kimberly Quaid never got a temporary spousal or child support order after she filed for divorce last June. According to legal docs, Dennis has been voluntarily paying for the living expenses of Kimberly and the 9-year-old twins since the split.

We're told they disagreed on how much Dennis should be paying. She thinks he should pay more and he thinks he's actually overpaying.

So, Dennis and Kimberly now say in legal docs -- once a judge sets the amount of spousal and child support -- they will add up what Dennis has paid, and if he's been underpaying he needs to cut a check for the difference. It's a gamble for Kimberly, because if Dennis overpaid she needs to cut a check for the difference.

Divorce ... sometimes it's like Vegas.

Paris cops working the Kim Kardashian robbery are taking suspects and a ton of evidence into custody ... and now there's a report one of her drivers was allegedly involved.

We got these pics of investigators handcuffing several more of the so-called Kim K 17 -- the suspects allegedly tied to the October heist. You can also see cops confiscating several items, like big screen TVs, from their homes.

According to French newspaper Le Monde, one of the 17 is a driver for a limo company frequently used by the Kardashians when they're in Paris. The report raises an old theory about Kim's robbery -- that it was an inside job.
