Britney Spears wants the media to know ... she's going after you if you tell lies about her, and she's starting with In Touch.

TMZ has obtained a scathing letter Britney's lawyer wrote to the honchos at In Touch, warning them not to publish a story they're pushing about Britney allegedly acting erratic at last month's MTV Video Music Awards and "talking and laughing to herself and using a British accent."

According to the letter, the magazine notified Britney's rep the story will run. Britney's lawyer says it is "utterly false, highly defamatory and completely offensive to Ms. Spears."

A source connected with Britney tells TMZ, the singer and her team are sick of "made-up" stories, especially in the face of how hard she's worked to turn her life around. They say if the story runs they will absolutely sue the magazine, adding this will be the first of many lawsuits to stop the lies.

The USC football program has officially pulled defensive end Don Hill from the season opener in Dallas this weekend ... and sources tell us it's all because of his involvement in a rape investigation.

TMZ Sports broke the story ... cops are investigating allegations 20-year-old Hill and his teammate, Osa Masina, raped an intoxicated woman during a July 14th incident.

According to the search warrant, the accuser claims she was so intoxicated she could barely move ... but does remember both Hill and Osa having sex with her.

The woman claims Osa recorded the incident and Snapchatted it to her ex-boyfriend -- a college football player at the University of Arizona.

We spoke with USC which confirmed, "Don Hill was sent back home today for a violation of team rules."

The spokesperson would not get into specifics -- but our USC sources tell us the move is directly connected to the rape investigation.

Important to note, neither Hill nor Masina have been arrested or charged with a crime.

He's out in Buffalo ... but Kroy Biermann says he's absolutely NOT considering hanging up his cleats for good.

As we previously reported, Kim Zolciak's hubby was released by the Bills early Friday morning -- despite the fact the linebacker signed a 1 year contract before training camp.

TMZ Sports spoke with Kroy's agent, Buddy Baker, who says 30-year-old Kroy was still impressive in camp despite getting to Buffalo "late in the process."

Baker says getting cut in Buffalo is "just another bump in the road and no reflection on Kroy and what he's capable of."

The woman who accused Chris Brown of pointing a gun at her allegedly wrote a text message shortly after the incident saying she was going to frame Chris with the gun allegation out of revenge ... but she denies sending any such message.

TMZ has obtained a copy of the text, sent to an acquaintance named Safari -- no relation to Nicki Minaj's ex. The text was purportedly sent Tuesday at 2:57 AM, shortly after Baylee Curran was kicked out of Chris' house. It reads:

"Hey safari don't you know this freak Chris brown is kicking me out of his house because I called his friend jewelry fake can you come get me my Uber is messing up if not I'm going to set him up and call the cops and say that he tried to shoot me and that will teach him a lesson I'm going to set his ass up. Lol come get me."

He responded, "Really that's f*** up you ain't going to do that your wrong if you do."

The woman who triggered Chris Brown's arrest has a history of making up stories about people threatening to kill her ... according to her former roommate.

Baylee Curran filed a restraining order in 2013 claiming her roomie, Princeton Roseborough, threatened to hire a hitman to take her out.

Baylee went on to claim Roseborough physically hurt her by pushing her head against a bedroom wall ... hard enough to call an ambulance.

Her claims were enough for a judge to issue a temporary restraining order, but when it came time for a formal hearing, she was a no-show in court so the restraining order was lifted.

Princeton, the roommate, insisted in his own legal docs that she was lying. He says Baylee was about to physically attack his girlfriend, and all he did was restrain her, and never pushed her. He submitted photos of her after the incident, which he says show no signs of injury. The photos in the legal docs are too grainy to know for sure.

Either way ... the case was dismissed.

TMZ Sports spoke to the former Redskins signal caller -- who had his career ended after Lawrence Taylor snapped his leg back in '85 -- about Bridgewater's prospects of returning to the league after dislocating his knee and tearing his ACL at practice Tuesday.

The investigation stemmed from allegations made in a documentary by Al Jazeera America ... where the news outlet claimed the NFL players were linked to PED use.

The NFL conducted interviews with all 3 players last week ... and announced Wednesday that they found "no credible evidence" that the guys were "provided with or used substances prohibited" under the leagues drug policy.
