Colts Owner Jim Irsay Dealing W/ Severe Respiratory Illness ... Backs Out Of Band Gig

Published | Updated

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay has been placed on Injured Reserve with a gnarly illness ... forcing him to back out of an upcoming concert with his band.

The news just came out Tuesday morning ... with Adam Schefter releasing a statement from the Colts on 64-year-old Irsay's condition.

"Jim Irsay is currently being treated for a severe respiratory illness," the team said.

Irsay was slated to hit the stage alongside his "Jim Irsay Band" rock group as part of an exhibit and concert event in Los Angeles on Thursday ... which will feature items from his massive music and sports memorabilia collection.

The band -- which is slated to have special appearances from Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top and more -- will seemingly hit the stage without Irsay, who served as main vocalist for previous gigs.

"While this unfortunately means he won't be able to perform with his band this week in Los Angeles, he is receiving excellent care and looks forward to returning to the stage as soon as possible," the team added.

"We’ll have no additional information at this time and we ask that you respect the privacy of Jim and his family as he recovers."

Sinéad O'Connor Cause of Death Revealed

Published | Updated

Sinéad O'Connor died of natural causes, British authorities announced Tuesday.

A rep for London's Southwark Coroner's Court tells TMZ ... she passed away from "natural causes" and "the coroner has therefore ceased their involvement in her death."

As we reported, cops in London responded to a report of an unresponsive woman at a residence ... arriving to find the 56-year-old singer already dead. Attempts were made to revive her, but they were unsuccessful.

Sinéad's 17-year-old son, Shane, died by suicide in early 2022 just 2 days after going missing from the hospital while on suicide watch. After his death, Sinéad called her son "the very light of my life" ... begging for him to be at peace.

She expressed more grief about Shane less than 2 weeks before her death, saying on social media, "He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally. I am lost in the bardo without him."

Sinéad has also struggled with her mental health in the past, telling Dr. Phil in 2017 she'd attempted suicide 8 times in a year.

Ja Morant Suffers Season-Ending Injury ... 'Damn Dawg'

The Memphis Grizzlies broke the news Monday night ... saying their superstar guard suffered a partial dislocation of his right shoulder during Saturday's training session.

The team said Morant continued to experience soreness and instability in the following days ... so he underwent an MRI, which revealed an underlying labral tear.

Mary Lou Retton I Was Almost Put on Life Support ... During Pneumonia Battle

Published | Updated

Mary Lou Retton is doing her first interview since being released from the hospital last year amid a scary battle with pneumonia -- and now, we're learning it was nearly deadly.

The ex-Olympic champion is set to do a sit-down with Hoda Kotb of "Today" this week, and a teaser clip was released ... which features the images of her we've seen publicly for a long while, and it's somewhat startling to see that she has breathing tubes hooked up to her.

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

Hoda notes that MLR is still on oxygen, which Mary confirms ... only to then discuss how awkward and difficult it is for her to discuss her health scare in the public eye like this.

She then makes another revelation ... saying she's grateful to be here, 'cause for a while during her hospitalization -- Mary didn't think she'd make it. As she notes here, they were on the cusp of placing her on life support, confirming the seriousness of her condition.

Her family members had been telegraphing this to us at the time ... discussing setbacks during her recuperation, and how scared her loved ones were for her, asking for prayers. Remember, Mary Lou had contracted a rare form of pneumonia -- which took its toll.

Thankfully, Mary Lou was able to fight back to good enough health to be released -- and now, it looks like she continues to be on the mend as she gets to 100% again at home.

The full interview is set to air on Monday ... we'll be watching.

A swimmer who won gold during the 1972 Olympics shortly after suffering from a collapsed lung has his collection of medals going up for auction.

Steve Genter's set of gold, silver, and bronze medals from the '72 Summer Games in Munich are estimated to go for more than $50K during RR Auction's Olympic-themed auction.

Judge Attack Flying Felon Now Isolated Behind Bars

Published | Updated

The flying felon who attacked a Vegas judge is paying for his actions in more ways than one ... not only has he been hit with a bunch more charges, he's also now in solitary.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... Deobra Redden has been moved to a solo cell following his violent outburst where he leaped over the bench at Judge Mary Kay Holthus earlier this week, punching her in the head and pulling her hair while court staffers rushed to her aid.

Our sources say Redden was immediately classified as a "2C" inmate, which is the most restrictive classification in the Clark County Jail.

This means Redden is solo in a cell, without any interactions with other inmates. He also eats alone, inside the cell ... and has very limited time outside.

The whole thing was shocking ... Redden was in court for a previous conviction for attempted battery with substantial bodily harm. His attorney had asked Judge Holthus for parole, but she chose to sentence the 3-time felon instead -- which set him off and led to the attack.

Judge Holthus was mostly unharmed, but shaken up by the incident. Another court employee required 25 stitches to close a gash on his head.

As for Redden ... he was hit with a slew of new felonies for the attack -- including coercion with force or threat of force, extortion, intimidating public officers/others with the use of force, disregard of the safety of person/property, and battery by prisoner, probationer, or parolee.

Lamar Odom Ketamine Therapy Works For Me ... Talks Matthew Perry's Death

Published | Updated

Lamar Odom says ketamine has been a successful tool to help him combat his addiction problems ... this after it was revealed it was in Matthew Perry's system when he died.

We got Lamar outside Oxy Dental, which Lamar owns, in Lomita, CA on Thursday, and talked about the controversy surrounding ketamine treatment therapy following the coroner's report on Matthew's death.

Lamar says Matthew's therapy was similar to his ... and according to him, it works -- but there are serious strings attached. For starters, users should not drive cars.

Ketamine has been used for depression and anxiety but is more commonly used as an anesthetic in operating rooms.

FRIENDS TO THE END

As we reported, Matthew was found in his jacuzzi in October and was declared dead. The L.A. County Medical Examiner claimed he had high levels of ketamine in his system, rendering him unconscious.

Dr. Zaid Fadul, who has prescribed ketamine to his patients, joined us on "TMZ Live," last month ... telling us why the coroner pointing fingers at the drug was misleading.

As for Lamar, his new dental office, which takes all insurance and helps those in need is keeping him busy ... as are his several rehab facilities.
