8:00 AM PT -- TMZ Sports spoke with Tolbert who says he tried to pay with a check, but the shop said they would only take cash.

So, he went to the bank and got the money ... in change.

As for the dispute, Tolbert says he NEVER threatened anybody -- but says he firmly believes he was intentionally overcharged by more than $1,000 because he's an NFL player.

Tolbert says his car still isn't running correctly and he'll be taking it to another shop for further repairs.

One last thing ... Tolbert says the shop is slandering him -- and if they don't stop, he'll consider taking legal action.

Here's a jerk move -- Carolina Panthers fullback Mike Tolbert paid an auto shop $3,900 IN COINS after feuding with the owner over the price of a new motor.

It all started when Tolbert went to Motion Lab Tuning to get some work done -- but MT says the place tried to rake him over the coals because "I'm a millionaire." He posted on Instagram calling the owner a crook.

But the shop has now fired back in a Facebook post (likely written by the owner) -- claiming Mike was the real problem ... demanding free work because of his NFL status.

The shop says the dispute got so intense, Mike and a friend threatened him -- so he called police and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg PD banned Tolbert from the property.

However, that wasn't the end of the war ... the owner claims, "In a passive aggressive manner, [Tolbert] thought he would get the last laugh by paying in coins."

"Pretty dumb really. All $3,900 in coins were easily identifiable as they came from a bank in boxes and perfectly counted out. I will say this, those coins will be taken in the boxes they came in and will be taken to a teller at BOA for deposit."

The worst part of the story -- the shop owner says, " I also have to break it to my son who is a fan of Mike Tolbert that he is a real scumbag that doesn't want to pay his bills."

If CM Punk's looking for another MMA fight, there's already an opponent lining up -- Beetlejuice from "The Howard Stern show."

Beet was out in NYC where he explained why he'd bust Punk up worse than Mickey Gall.

In fact, BJ also called out Brock Lesnar -- calling him a "fat f***" and saying "anybody could knock his ass out."

Cookie's assistant on "Empire" proved she's got her back in real life too by taking a jab at 50 Cent's mental health ... on the heels of him trash talking Taraji P. Henson.

Ta'Rhonda Jones, who plays Porsha on the show, came on "TMZ Live" to talk about the new season ... and addressed Fiddy's repeated shots at "Empire." Her take on it was pretty awesome -- she went right after the rapper/TV producer and flat out called him a "weirdo."

Taraji already went back at 50 after he claimed "Empire" ratings were slipping -- but she was kinda gentle about it. High road. Ta'Rhonda, on the other hand, lit into him and then gave him some advice.

Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna are seriously on the outs, and Kylie Jenner got caught in the cross fire when she planned a baby shower for Rob sans Chyna ... TMZ has learned.

Sources close to the Kardashians tell us Rob got pissed at his sisters Monday -- especially Kylie -- for what he considered a slap in the face ... the Chyna-free shower they were throwing. We're told the sisters only planned separate his and hers showers because Rob and Chyna haven't been speaking for months.

They briefly reunited for a dinner the night before their reality show premiered, but other than that ... they've been split.

Still, Rob was pissed when he learned BC wouldn't be at the shower -- so he skipped it, and dialed up some revenge by tweeting Kylie's phone number. Thing is ... we're told Chyna had agreed separate showers were best.

Rob wasn't told that until after the fact, and we're told he's still pissed. We're guessing Kylie will have to get that number changed.

Meek Mill and The Game's beef claimed a new victim -- hip-hop legend Beanie Sigel, who got knocked the hell out ... apparently by a guy in Meek's crew.

TMZ got this video of Beanie laid out backstage ... shortly before he was getting onstage Saturday night for Diddy's Bad Boy Family concert in Philly. You can also see a guy getting dragged out of the area ... his name is Teefy Bey, and he's a member of Meek's Dreamchasers.

Teefy's copped to throwing the KO punch, and claims Beanie had to go down because he broke the "code of ethics on the street." He doesn't get more specific.

It's weird because Beanie rapped WITH Meek last week on his Game diss track, "Ooouuu." Of course, he's since claimed to have written the whole thing, including Meek's verses.

In any event, Beanie still managed to perform in Philly after the knockout, and took a thinly veiled shot at Meek and co.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are not going to have big financial issues, because they were only married for 2 years and they might have been expecting a divorce since day 1 ... 'cause they have a prenup spelling out exactly who gets what ... TMZ has learned.

Sources close to the couple tell us their prenuptial agreement is ironclad and details the specifics of their combined fortune ... a reported $400 mil.

Brangelina have 12 total properties together ... all of which they snatched up either before they were married or before they were even dating. 7 of those belong to Brad, 2 to Angie and 3 which they bought together prior to tying the knot in 2014.

It's unclear who exactly shelled out what for those 3 properties, which include a vineyard in France, a mansion in New Orleans and an apartment in NY ... but we're told the prenup makes divvying all that up simple.

Rather than properties being an issue in the divorce, we're told CUSTODY of their kids will be where the war really plays out.

As we reported ... Brad plans to fight for joint physical custody of their 6 children.

Lil Wayne just caught a major break in his legal war with Birdman ... a judge is forcing Baby to open his books to account for millions Weezy says he never saw.

Wayne had previously asked to see Birdman's financial records to find out how he burned through $70 mil they were supposed to split from a $100 million advance from Universal.

As we reported ... Birdman's lawyers say they've already forked over more than 20,000 pages of docs to Wayne's legal team. But Wayne's attorneys claim those are useless, and they want a full-on money trail.

Here's the problem for Birdman -- his peeps over at Cash Money weren't keeping very good track of those records ... for 2 whole years. Birdman's lawyer shrugged it off this way ... "It is what it is."

That excuse didn't fly with the judge ... who gave Birdman 30 days to find those records, or get the right person who knows where they are and get 'em to Wayne.

Sounds like he should've listened to Wayne, and held onto his receipts.

Lindsay Lohan did NOT pay the bills during her relationship with Egor Tarabasov -- in fact, it's exactly the opposite ... so say sources close to Egor.

Lindsay went on Russian TV and said Egor was a slacker who didn't contribute a dime to the relationship.

But Egor claims HE was the breadwinner between the two ... so much so he had to cover thousands of dollars in bills Lindsay racked up during the filming her latest movie.

Our source says Lindsay had access to Egor's credit card, and she used it often to snatch up gifts for herself and her entire fam. As for that emerald engagement ring ... we're told Lindsay picked it alright, but didn't pay for it. It was all Egor.

Egor's got a steady income through a bunch of investments, and even serves as director for a couple European firms ... so he's got cash to blow.

As we reported ... Egor also denies Lindsay's allegations that he abused her.

The Game is a wanted man in Philly ... and this time the sheriffs are Meek Mill's crew ... that trolled the streets and followed the cheesesteak trail.

Game said on social media early Saturday night he hit up Max's on his way to Rhode Island.

Since Philly is Meek Mill's home turf, Meek's posse descended on Max's in search of Game, and something delicious as long as they were there.

The search turned up goose eggs.

Later that night Game posted video goosing Meek and his boys ... making it clear he was at Max's.

Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna are livid at The Game for inserting her into his war with Meek Mill ... but it also triggered a big fight between the two.

Sources close to Rob and Chyna tell TMZ ... the couple had a heated argument about the sexually suggestive lyrics in Game's diss track, "92 Bars" ... because Rob had no idea Game took her down.

We're told Rob was weirded out because Game had spent so much time with his family, and he felt it's something Chyna should have disclosed early on in their relationship.

She begged to differ, claiming it went down long before she hooked up with Rob.

The lyrics go, "Blac Chyna head the bomb, Al-Qaeda."

After they argued, they agreed the common enemy was Game, who never gave Chyna a heads-up.

The Game kicked Russell Simmons' peace talks to the curb ... publicly dissing Meek Mill Thursday night near his hometown.

You hear Game say at the beginning of the club, "F*** Meek Mill."

Russell Simmons might have thought he shut it down, but their beef is alive and well.

BTW ... after the concert Game sauntered around Philly ... clearly not concerned about retribution.

Chris Brown says his baby mama, Nia Guzman, is exploiting his latest arrest in hopes of getting a little more money out of him.

Chris responded to the story TMZ broke about Nia filing a complaint with child services after the standoff with cops that led to his arrest for assault with a deadly weapon.

They've repeatedly fought over child support and custody of 2-year-old Royalty, with Nia frequently coming up on the short end of the stick.

The Game has a clear message for Russell Simmons when it comes to getting involved in his business -- stay in your damn lane!

Game's manager, Wack 100, tells TMZ ... Simmons' claim he arranged a peace treaty between Meek Mill and Game ... is full BS. Wack says Simmons "must have discussed this in yoga classes with Meek," but he has no right to discuss Game's business.

He says Russell did briefly speak to Game, but the rapper basically told the mogul to butt out ... in more colorful language, we're guessing.

Check out the vid we got with Simmons Thursday morning in NYC -- he told us the beef was not only squashed, but he hoped there was a chance Meek and Game would work together in the future.

Game obviously disagrees. Strongly.

Steve Levitan's estranged wife is just out for a petty cash grab in their divorce ... at least that's how the "Modern Family" creator put it in a very candid email to her.

Levitan set the tone right off the bat, starting the email with ... "Krista Schmuck." We should point out ... that's her maiden name, but there's a chance he was going for a double entendre.

In the email -- which was filed in their divorce case -- Steve warns Krista she's going to have to blow millions on her lawyers just to get a dime out of him. He also calls her out for having loose lips -- and says he wishes she handled the split more like Ben Affleck and Jen Garner ... or Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin.

"Modern Family" creator Steve Levitan has a new idea for a functional modern family ... lose the wife who drags him to court for daring to visit his daughter.

Levitan -- who grosses $2.4 million a month -- is in the throes of a super nasty divorce in which his wife has now twice tried, unsuccessfully, to keep him away from the family home.

The latest blowup occurred the day before the Emmys. Steve invited his daughter, Hannah, to come home from college for the weekend so he could take her to the awards ceremony. Hannah was staying at the family home with her mom, Krista, when Steve drove up to take her for a drink.

Steve says he was on a public sidewalk when Hannah came up to hug him. Krista was out of town, but a burly security guard was ready to pounce. The guard got out of a car, walked up to Steve and said, "Can I help you with something." Steve simply responded, "No."

But Steve was pissed, saying in legal docs he felt like he was being treated like a criminal.

Krista ran to court Tuesday, asking a judge for a restraining order ... keeping him a hundred yards from the family home. She made all sorts of allegations, including aggressive courtroom conduct. She said he tried to intimidate her in the courthouse cafeteria by staring her down.

She also says he assaulted her back in May at their son's volleyball awards ceremony by grabbing her by the arms and saying, "Get ready for World War III."

The judge denied her request for a restraining order. This is the second time Krista's been shut down in court for a restraining order.

The Game admits it's gonna make him "look bipolar" -- but he has mixed emotions about his second Meek Mill diss track because it came on the heels of the Tulsa cop shooting of Terence Crutcher.

Game was in NYC when he told us it's not a good look to be squaring off with another African-American artist in light of Crutcher's death ... still, he ain't backing down.

Watch the clip, it's kinda bizarre -- one moment he's encouraging peaceful protests on the issue of police brutality ... the next he's talking up the diss track, "Pest Control" ... which features all new violent threats against Meek.
