Alec Responds: 'I've Been Driven to the Edge'
Alec Baldwin swung back at wife Kim Basinger, slamming "certain people" who he says, "will go to any lengths to embarass [sic] me and to disrupt my relationship with my daughter."
In a statement on his website alecbaldwin.com, Baldwin apologizes for "losing my temper" but is "equally sorry that a court order was violated," and maintains that despite his now-public tirade he has friends and "respect from people I work with," and what he claims to be "a normal relationship" with daughter Ireland. Here's the statement in full:
Thank you to everyone who has posted messages of suppport and understanding. Naturally, it is not best for a parent to lose their temper with their child. Everyone who knows me privately knows that I have endured a great deal over the last several years in my custody litigation. Everyone who knows me privately knows that certain people will go to any lengths to embarass me and to disrupt my relationship with my daughter.
In such public cases, your opponents attempt to take a picture of you on your worst day and insist that this is who you are as a person. Outside the doors of divorce court, I have friends, I have respect from people I work with and I have a normal relationship with my daughter. All of that is threatened whenever one enters a court room.
Although I have been told by numerous people not to worry too much, as all parents lose their patience with their kids, I am most saddened that this was released to the media because of what it does to a child. I'm sorry, as everyone who knows me is aware, for losing my temper with my child. I have been driven to the edge by parental alienation for many years now. You have to go through this to understand. (Although I hope you never do.) I am sorry for what happened. But I am equally sorry that a court order was violated, which had deliberately been put under seal in this case.
Once my book is published, I'm sure more people will understand the incredible strains created by parental alienation.
In the meantime, I'm sorry to anyone who's taken offense from this episode.

Scott Weiland's Wife Arrested for Torching Wardrobe
The wife of Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland was arrested this weekend after cops say she torched the rocker's $10,000 wardrobe in front of the couple's home in Toluca Lake, Ca.
According to police, 31-year-old Mary Weiland was booked for investigation of felony arson vandalism after cops responded to a "female burning clothes" call late Saturday evening.
The couple's two kids were placed in the custody of family friends.
Weiland was booked at a Burbank police station just after midnight Sunday morning and was released after posting $50,000 bail three hours later.
The arrest came only hours after the couple was kicked out of the Graciela Hotel in Burbank following a ferocious argument that left Weiland's room in shambles and blood on the linens, as TMZ exclusively reported. The hotel is pressing charges against the Weilands for the damage they caused.

Scott Weiland and Wife Trash Hotel Room in Bloody Fight
Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland and his wife trashed a Burbank hotel room during a rockstar-caliber rampage last weekend, and now the hotel is pressing charges against the Weilands for the damage they caused.
Sources tell TMZ that Weiland and his wife Mary ripped alarm clocks and phones from their sockets and threw them, made "dents and gauges" in the walls, and that there was even blood found on some of the linens afterward. (A picture taken at the scene shows a note attached to a trash bag that says, in Spanish, "with blood.")
The trouble started when Mary arrived at the hotel Saturday, whereupon the couple got into "a huge argument" witnessed by their two young children, who had to be taken away by Weiland's assistant. Weiland himself then left, leaving behind Mary, who could be heard throwing things in the room. The police were called, and the hotel is pressing charges for the damage caused. There's no word whether either Weiland or his wife were injured in the spat.
Weiland pleaded guilty to domestic violence charges against Mary in December 2001 and was sentenced to probation and forced to pay a fine.
Trump's Kids Tell Suckers: Inherit the Wealth!
There's nothing quite like getting advice on making your fortune from two twenty-somethings -- whose dad is Donald Trump.
But that's the premise of the 2007 Creating Wealth Summit, where 29-year-old Donald Trump, Jr. and sister Ivanka will be sharing their family's "most successful wealth-creating secrets and strategies." Like what, being born? The mailer bears the return address, "Donald J. Trump, New York City."
Later this month, in various venues in the New York/New Jersey area, the silver-spooned siblings, both of whom are employed by Daddy Donald's real estate company, will speak on various topics financial in conjunction with some "self-made multimillionaire experts," whose last name is not Trump .
At least there's one saving grace -- the conference is free, and you get a free copy of the elder Donald's book, "Trump: Think Like a Billionaire" -- if you can stick it out the entire day.
Naughty Girl! Dad Scolds Elisabeth on 'The View'
You've been a very, very bad girl, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, haven't you?
"The View's" paragon of prim and proper let her verbal chastity belt slip today, revealing on the morning gabfest that she'd snuck out of the house as a 14-year-old, breaking the family home's electricity meter in the process, and saddling her folks with a crazy-high power bill. Sin Lizzie also admitted that her secret trip was for the express purpose of (gasp!) -- meeting a boy, whom she wouldn't identify.
Her father, Ken Filarski, did not think that the statute of limitations on a scolding had passed, calling into the show live, saying he was "shocked" and that he wanted to be paid back for that electric bill. Elisabeth was suitably mortified when the call came in, looking as though she'd just seen a Hummer flattening a kitten.

Serena Full of (Pit) Bull
Serena Williams seems to be serving up a suspect story. She's denying the pit bull that bit a security guard in Palm Beach, FL was hers.
Security guard Michael Norton responded to a report Friday of a pit bull and a poodle on the loose in Palm Beach Gardens. According to the police report obtained by TMZ, Norton says when arrived on the scene, the poodle approached him as he was getting out of his vehicle. At that point, Norton says the pit bull immediately ran toward him and began barking, as if to protect the poodle. The pit bull then bit him in the left rear, but did not puncture the skin. Norton says in the report that his wallet, which was in his left pocket, protected him from injury.
The pit bull was not wearing a collar, but the poodle was. When checked, the information led police to Serena Williams. According to the police report, the tennis star said the pit bull did not belong to her, it belongs to a friend named David Tomossini. Now here's the rub...
When TMZ contacted Animal Care and Control in Palm Beach, a rep for the agency confirmed that Williams is the registered owner of two dogs; a Jack Russell terrier... and a pit bull. They also said there is no record of a David Tomossini owning any animals whatsoever.
The "fun facts" section of Serena's official website quotes the tennis ace: "I have two dogs "Jackie" a Jack Russell Terrier and "Bambi" a pit bull."
Now we're no line judge... but it seems to us that this one may not clear the net.
UPDATE: Serena's rep issued the following statement to TMZ. "Serena Williams gave her dog to a friend. Her statement to the police did not mean to absolve herself of any responsibilty. Serena is relieved that no one was injured in this incident and in the future, will make sure that when the dog visits, he will not get out."
Tori Spelling 90049
Tori Spelling has left the 90210.
Banished from her 123-room childhood home by mommie dearest Candy Spelling, TMZ has learned that mom-to-be Tori and her man-wife Dean McDermott are about to become, dare we say, renters!
Tori, who hasn't spoken to Candy since the death of her TV mogul father Aaron Spelling, is moving into an apartment building located in a not-so-exclusive section of Brentwood. Dean-O, I have a feeling we're not in Beverly Hills anymore.
While the building does include a pool and fitness center, Tori will have to get used to roughing it, since her new digs don't include a private bowling alley, ice skating rink or gift-wrapping room. Oh the humanity!
Luckily, it seems Tori and her second hubby won't have any trouble making their monthly rent, as they're set to start production on a new reality show for Oxygen, which will follow them as they open a bed and breakfast and await the arrival of their baby.
Renting. Working. Pregnant. Looks like our little girl is all growed up! *sniff*
Winslet's Titanic-size Heartache
Today, four-time Oscar nominee Kate Winslet is "genuinely happy" with two beautiful children and loving husband director Sam Mendes. But just as her career was enjoying a meteoric rise, her personal life was sinking to new lows.
Prior to the red carpets and acting accolades, Kate tells Parade magazine she grew up being called "blubber" and sought comfort in the arms of her first love Stephen Tredre.
Regarding Tredre, Winslet says, "He was the most important person in my life. My life revolved around him." In 1994, Tredre was diagnosed with bone cancer and Kate rushed to his side.
In late '97, the same week that the movie that would make her a household name, "Titanic", opened, Tredre died. Kate says it was "unbelievably heartbreaking."
Winslet managed to pick up the pieces and, after a failed marriage to James Threapleton which produced her daughter Mia, eventually fell in love with Mendes. In 2003, the NY-based couple had a son, Joe.
With her career and personal life now at the top of their game, Kate's life couldn't be better. "I love being married to Sam and I love motherhood more than anything."
Check out the entire interview with Kate Winslet in Sunday's Parade Magazine.
Tori: Poor Little Rich Girl?
On the (very) short end of the inheritance from her late father's $500 million estate, Tori Spelling has now resorted to selling photos of her pregnancy to OK! magazine -- for a cool $250,000, according to a report in Page Six this morning.
But there are signs that a detente between Tori and her mom Candy may be in the offing. According to People.com, Candy is "ecstatic" that Tori is pregnant with hubby Dean McDermott. "If Aaron were here, I know how thrilled he would also be to share in such a happy occasion," Candy also told People. It's no secret that Tori and her mom haven't been speaking ever since Tori's dad, TV mogul Aaron Spelling, died in July. Tori told the press that she was upset that she heard about her father's death from a friend, and ever since then, the tensions have only been escalating, culminating in a tense Emmy Awards-night faceoff. Maybe a little grandchild will change the way Candy thinks of her daughter -- but will it make her cough up some cash?
Tim & Susan Huge Hockey Fans?
Jack Nicholson at a Lakers game is a normal occurrence, but Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon at a NY Rangers game not so much. You may not know this, but apparently the A-list couple are die hard NHL hockey fans. The family has been frequently spotted at NY Rangers home and away games. Now that's a fan.
Tim and Susan aren't the only ones in the family who are big fans, apparently son Miles is also a hockey buff. Tim recently took 15-year-old Miles to an FHM/NHL party at Marquee in NY to mingle with his favorite players.
We did a little digging and found out that Tim's passion for hockey started all the way back when he was kicked off his high school team for fighting. He also played in the "Hero's of Hockey" game at the National Hockey League's All-Star Game, and claims to own every Rangers highlight video released since their 1994 Stanley Cup championship season.

Nicole and Brody Split Nic's Heart 'Never In It'
After two months of trying to elevate their longtime friendship to something resembling a relationship, Nicole Richie and Brody Jenner have called it quits, but say that they're remaining "close friends." According to Us Weekly, Richie initiated the break-up at Jenner's home in Malibu, and the reality-TV pair – known mainly for being the children of Lionel Richie and Olympian Bruce Jenner – decided mutually to go it alone.
"[Nicole] felt it was a mistake to jump into a relationship so soon after her breakup with [ex-boyfriend Adam 'DJ AM' Goldstein]." Of course, according to her MySpace blog, as PerezHilton.com ponts out, Nicole already appears to have a somewhat slender recollection of her time with childhood friend Jenner: "I know there are rumors regarding my 'breakup' with Brody Jenner. The truth is, we were never really together ... my heart was never in it. Anything further is just a cry for publicity." Ouch.
Something's in the air, clearly: Just yesterday, it became public that "The Break-Up" co-stars Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn had also split.
Babs Opens Tour, Ridicules Bush, Sings With Prompters
The original diva, Barbra Streisand, began her first tour in 12 years last night with a show that highlighted some of her beloved hits – and took aim at one of Babs' favorite targets, President George W. Bush. Streisand, playing before a capacity crowd of 16,000 at Philadelphia's Wachovia Center, took on the President with a skit that features a fake Bush uttering such lines as "I'm concerned about the national debt, so I'm selling Canada," and "If I cared about the polls I would have run for president of Poland." Now that, friends, is acidic political satire.
Babs also had to use a teleprompter to remember the words to her own songs, saying that she had been so unnerved when she flubbed the words to three songs at a 1967 concert in New York that she stopped giving live concerts for over 20 years.
Keith "Embarrassed" About Tree Incident
So he wasn't hunting for coconuts, and he didn't really fall out of a tree while climbing it. Rolling Stone Keith Richards sets the record straight about his fall from a tree in Rolling Stone magazine – and he thinks it's "embarrassing." Just to clarify the situation once and for all, Keith says, "I was sitting on this gnarled shrub about six feet of the ground. I was wet – I'd been swimming. I hit the ground the wrong way, my head hit the trunk, and that was that." Keith, God bless, but we still don't have any idea what you're talking about. Still, Richards had to have emergency head surgery – and face scads of public ridicule – following the incident. He's recovered from the accident.
Clay Doesn't Listen To Elton
Mop-topped "American Idol" runner-up Clay Aiken continues to do his best to evade questions about his sexuality. Rush & Molloy caught up with the singer at a performance of "Hairspray" starring his former "Idol" colleague Diana DeGarmo, and asked him the big question. They took a different tack – asking his thoughts about a recent warning from no less an authority on unveiling one's gayness than Elton John, who said that Clay will keep getting the same question until he addresses it. "I have no idea what you're talking about," he said, before taking off with the female members of his family.
Party Favors: De Niro Lays Out Dinero For New Pad, Maggie Has Baby Girl, "Knights" Get Pushed Back
Lower Manhattan's most famous resident, Robert De Niro, has finally found a place uptown – for a cool $23 million. The actor and his wife Grace Hightower, according to the New York Post's Braden Keil, bought their Upper West Side duplex, after a long search, from the ex-wife of film mogul Harvey Weinstein. Their new place has a projection room, not to mention five bedrooms and 6 ½ baths ... The world's most photographed pregnant woman, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and fiancé Peter Sarsgaard had their first child Tuesday afternoon, a baby girl named Ramona, reports People. "Everyone is healthy and happy," says Maggie's rep ... Much-anticipated ABC comedy "Knights of Prosperity" – the one where a bunch of guys try to rob Mick Jagger – has been delayed from its Oct. 17 premiere to give the network more time to give the show a better promotional push.

Nic's Tattoo Fix
How many tattoos does Nicole Richie have?
Nicole Richie sports nine (at least) tattoos on her body, Stephanie. The favorite seems to be this rosary she had tattooed around her ankle. She also has a spider-shaped one on her lower stomach, as well as a pair of ballerina slippers she got in honor of the song her father, Lionel Richie, wrote for her. (For you young'ins, that song was "Ballerina Girl.")
Make sure not to miss out on Nicole's fab photo gallery!
Hoff Laughs Off Daughter's 'Suicide Attempt'
David Hasselhoff is laughing off rumors that his daughter attempted to commit suicide, calling them a "big ball of tabloid garbage."
Though multiple police sources told TMZ the former "Baywatch" star reported that his younger daughter was "cut" and it was a suicide attempt, Hasselhoff's ex-wife Pamela Bach alleges David used the story to make her look like a bad parent and lied to the cops about it. Bach says it was really a cat scratch. Hasselhoff denies calling 911 about a suicide attempt, but his publicist says the 911 operator may have interpreted it that way.
While promoting his movie "Click" overseas, The Hoff explained his side of the story, saying, "my other daughter told me she scratched herself so I thought, oh my god my daughter's cut herself; not to kill herself, she scratched herself... I still don't know the full story, whether it was the cat or what so I called the paramedics."
While claiming everything was blown out of proportion, Hasselhoff adds his daughter had it worst. "She went, 'Oh great dad now I've got to go to school while all the kids look at me.'"

Julia Roberts' Family Outing
Forget Prada, Gucci or Fendi. Julia Roberts and husband Danny Moder are all about the very trendy baby bags.
The happy couple made a trip out to a friend's beach house in Malibu on Sunday with their twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, and with them brought a bunch of day luggage. Julia has been laying low these days and spending time with her family after opting not to star in "Ocean's 13."
With twins just about to hit those terrible twos, we're guessing those bags are filled with lots of toys to keep their little ones occupied.
