Australian rules football legend Richie Vandenberg got hit in the face with a glass at a NY bar early Thursday morning ... but despite his injuries, he refused medical attention, TMZ Sports has learned.

Here's what we know ... 39-year-old Vandenberg -- who captained the Hawthorn Football Club from '05 to '07 -- was partying at the Catch bar in NYC with a lady friend when someone came up to her and asked her to dance.

We're told she refused... and Richie came over to help get her point across, when the dude smashed Richie in the face.

Police were called and the suspect -- a 32-year-old man -- was arrested. Cops say Richie suffered a laceration to the forehead but didn't want to go to the hospital.

Australian rules football players are tough.

BTW, Vandenberg was a stud during his time with the squad ... and was hailed as turning Hawthorn into one of the most dominant clubs in the AFL.

A Dallas high school employee claims Deion Sanders' teenage son brutally attacked him on school grounds ... beating him so badly, he needed spinal surgery ... this according to court docs obtained by TMZ Sports.

Richard Simmons apparently was not released from the hospital as his people said, because it appears he was beating a hasty retreat Monday night from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

We're pretty sure it's Richard in the back seat -- sporting a beard -- with his longtime housekeeper/friend riding shotgun.

TMZ broke the story ... the housekeeper called 911 Friday just before midnight, saying Simmons was incoherent. Paramedics took him to Cedars, but his people claimed the fitness guru was released the following day.

Richard Simmons' people claimed he was in the hospital for less than 24 hours, but that doesn't seem to be the case, because his housekeeper made several trips to Cedars-Sinai ... days after he was admitted.

The housekeeper (above) made 2 trips to Cedars Monday. TMZ broke the story ... the housekeeper called 911 just before midnight Friday after Richard became incoherent. He was taken to Cedars, but the housekeeper and his other confidantes claimed he was out by Saturday afternoon.

A post on Simmons' Facebook account stated he suffered from dehydration, but 3 days in it looks like he never checked out of the hospital.

MMA fighter Kimbo Slice was hospitalized in Florida earlier Monday ... and multiple sources tell TMZ Sports the situation does not look good.

Law enforcement sources tell us ... Slice was admitted to a hospital near his home in Coral Springs, FL.

Police are currently at his home gathering information from family members.

Kimbo -- real name Kevin Ferguson -- last fought at Bellator 149 back in February and defeated Dada 5000 -- but the victory was overturned when Slice tested positive for a banned steroid.

Back in 2003, Slice became an Internet sensation for his backyard fighting videos -- destroying several opponents in unsanctioned street fights. He later signed a deal to fight in the UFC.

A Disney roller coaster ride became unhinged and a visitor, who was on the sidelines minding her own business, got knocked out by a bolt out of the sky ... literally.

Tatjana Goodall claims in a new lawsuit she was sitting on a park bench enjoying a cool drink when an errant bolt that had just flown off the California Screamin' roller coaster nailed her in the head, knocking her off the bench and rendering her unconscious.

Goodall claims she began vomiting, but the nurse at Disney California Adventure assured her the only worrisome sign would be if it was projectile vomiting, and she had the regular kind.

Goodall says she was diagnosed with traumatic brain injury, and she says there's permanent damage.

According to the lawsuit, the ride was shut down immediately after the incident.

SoulCycle's crappy instructors and faulty bikes are to blame for a catastrophic ankle injury ... so claims a very disgruntled customer.

Carmen Farias claims in a new lawsuit she showed up to spin class in 2014 and, since she was a newbie, she expected someone would show her how to use the bikes. Farias says she started riding but quickly tired and the instructor barked, "We don't take breaks."

Farias says she was so embarrassed she soldiered on, as her feet were locked to the pedals. She says she became so fatigued she fell off the bike with her feet still strapped in ... but the momentum of the fly wheel kept the pedals turning, and each rotation caused ankle dislocation.

She blames the bikes and lack of instruction for what she claims are catastrophic ankle injuries.

4:00 PM PT -- Mokrani doesn't know what the hell Chris is talking about ... he tells us he was NOT working security at the club.

8:55 AM PT - Chris Brown posted on social media and said Mokrani was a security guard who assaulted him and tried to kick him out, so his team "handled the situation accordingly."

Chris Brown exploded in anger and stomped on a man's head during a concert ... and the victim is now gunning for some justice.

Malek Mokrani attended a Brown concert in Cannes on May 18 ... it's clear a fight erupted and something clearly upset Chris, because you see his shoe turn into a weapon.

It's unclear if Mokrani was involved in the fight or just collateral damage.

He tells us he went to the hospital with neck and head pain and plans on filing a police report.

We reached out to Brown's rep. So far no word back.

Laila Ali is thanking the fans for the love and support after her father was hospitalized this week ... but did not provide any health updates.

"Thank for all the love and well wishes. I feel your love and appreciate it," Laila posted on Facebook.

She also posted a pic of Muhammad Ali with her daughter, Sydney, and added, "I love this photo of my father and my daughter Sydney when she was a baby!"

Andrew Kornfeld, the man who called 911 when Prince died, firmly believes he could have saved the singer with the backpack full of opioids he had at Paisley Park that morning.

The ME's report revelation that Prince died from a self-administered dose of Fentanyl ... seems to acquit Kornfeld and his father, Dr. Howard Kornfeld, of any involvement in the death. Andrew was delivering an opioid called Buprenorphine to treat Prince's addiction to Percocet. He insists Prince never took the drug.

Now Kornfeld is singing the praises of the synthetic opiate, saying it should be more accessible to addiction patients everywhere. Kornfeld tells CNN, he believes part of Prince's problem was that Buprenorphine is very difficult to get in Minnesota.

Muhammad Ali has been hospitalized for a respiratory issue ... and he's currently in fair condition, this according to the boxer's spokesperson.

'SOA' star Tommy Flanagan and Alan Ritchson -- Raphael from the latest 'TMNT' movie -- were headed to the Houston airport on Sunday after a comic con event ... when they saw a truck blow a tire and flip across the highway.

The driver of the wrecked truck, Jonathan Elder, tells us the actors rushed to pull his unconscious brother out of the passenger seat. In a scene straight out of an action flick ... he says 'Raphael' and 'Chibs' used a crowbar to free his bro right before the truck caught fire.

BTW ... the guy driving Tommy and Alan to the airport is a military vet who provided medical assistance until emergency crews arrived. Tommy took a pic with him after the incident.

Calvin Harris -- it seems -- has at least one lingering injury from his car accident ... just check out his bum ear.

Calvin arrived at LAX Tuesday with a bruised and misshapen right lobe.

TMZ broke the story ... Calvin was in a terrible car crash May 20 and taken by ambulance to the hospital, but bailed against doctor's advice when he couldn't get a private room. His people told us he left because his only injury was a small cut on his nose, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

Taylor Swift's BF had flown to London, though it's unclear why. He's already cancelled 4 gigs.

Forget the Olympics, the Zika virus has already infiltrated MLB -- with Detroit Tigers pitcher Francisco Rodriguez saying he contracted the virus in Venezuela during the offseason.

The 34-year-old revealed his health status to ESPN -- saying his symptoms started off almost like a common cold ... but quickly escalated.

"It wasn't a cold. A cold, you have a sneeze, have a headache, take a couple Tylenol and you're done. You don't have a cold for two weeks, you don't have a bodyache for two weeks, you don't have headaches, throwing up, weaknesses for two weeks."

Rodriguez says he was bedridden for 2 weeks while he fought off the mosquito-borne virus -- which some experts say can cause severe birth defects and neurological issues in adults.

He also says it took him roughly 2 months before he started to feel normal again -- and notes that he was never considered contagious.

As for Olympic athletes worried about catching Zika in Brazil -- Rodriguez says the concern is real.
